[22:29] <+Editanon> Upon entering his office he greets the three of you with a hearty hello "Good morning youngsters, I have not seen you three together in some time, how can i help you today?"
[22:29] <+C-Moon> "C'mon slowpokes! The mission's waiting for us!"
[22:29] <~Abby> "We're here about the dark node mission"
[22:29] <+C-Moon> "Hiya chief. I hear we need to see you before we go on that mission."
[22:30] <+Editanon> The poor guy almost chokes on his drink "I say, you three are taking that one?"
[22:30] <+C-Moon> "Yep, might as well start of strong for the newbie."
[22:31] <~Abby> "I'm curious about it, and if there really is a dark node there, something should be done"
[22:31] * +Alpine flashes a thumbs up. ''Don't worry, Gr- Mallard. I'll be just fine!''
[22:31] * +Jeanne blushes and tries to look away from the puppet doing the talking.
[22:32] <+Editanon> Mallard composes himself as he stands up and heads over to the shelf nearest to him "I applaud the enthusiasm, and if you all say you will be fine then im inclined to believe you."
[22:35] <+Editanon> Mallard pulls a small leather pouch off the shelf and hands it to Alpine "Even though the fair ladies account is.. not all that conclusive, I still wish to air on the side of caution. Take this light crystal with you just in case. Give it a few good taps with something and itll pour out enough concentrated light to take care of any run of the mill Dark that might be there."
[22:35] * ~Abby bows respectfully "Thank you Mallard. Is there any more information you can give us about this supposed node?"
[22:36] * +Alpine stares at the light crystal in her hand. ''Pretty.''
[22:37] <+Editanon> "If one is there it will be like all the rest, somewhere that light does not reach. A small dark purple object, about the size of an egg."
[22:37] * +C-Moon reaches out to touch it, but stops as her hand is slapped lightly by Jeanne
[22:38] * +Alpine crouches down and holds it out to C-Moon.
[22:38] <+Editanon> "This crystal is nearly of the highest grade, so do not worry about it shattering, but do try not to lose it. These little objects are very precious."
[22:38] <~Abby> "I meant the womans testimony."
[22:38] <~Abby> "What exactly did she say?"
[22:39] <+C-Moon> "I REALLY want to try and make it go off already....The light's probably pretty."
[22:39] <~Abby> "Children, please"
[22:39] <+Editanon> "Ah, yes. Ahem. Her frantic recount of the night was as such. Beasts of fur an shadow ambushed her and her borthers in the middle of the night. Wolves most likly, but the shadow part she continues to insist on is what worries me."
[22:39] <~Abby> "Let's not waste our tools before we need them"
[22:40] * +Alpine stands at attention. ''Yes! Sorry!''
[22:40] * +Jeanne continues to pay attention
[22:41] <~Abby> "hmmm, interesting, she said she was separated from someone too, right?"
[22:41] <+Editanon> Mallard lets out a large set of laughs "You do not have to worry about wasting anything, this crystal, like the rest of its type, recharge with the suns light. It is rather bright though so please dont use it inside the base."
[22:42] * +C-Moon is about to start tapping at the gem before Jeanne just scoops her up in her arms
[22:42] <+Editanon> "Now then, above all else this is a rescue mission. Find the two brothers and bring them back here. If you cannot locate them both then atleast try to determine what happened to them and bring back proof."
[22:43] <~Abby> "Ok...may I ask one more question?"
[22:43] <+C-Moon> "Oh! Chiefy! I's got a question too!"
[22:43] <+Editanon> "Yes young ones?"
[22:44] <~Abby> "How likely do you think it is that this is a set up?"
[22:44] <+C-Moon> "If things get too dangerous, like a big one finds us before we get away...."
[22:44] <+C-Moon> "Can we use.....that?"
[22:45] <+Editanon> "Not very likely i must say, the girl and her brothers are from the Stormpike cartel, very reputable traders in this part of the world. There employes are always highly vetted."
[22:45] <~Abby> "Ok, thank you, thats one worry off my mind"
[22:45] <+Editanon> Mallard smiles at Jeanne "If you deem it necessary, then yes i will not stop you."
[22:45] * ~Abby nods and Ami mimics her
[22:45] <+C-Moon> "Yaaaaaay!"
[22:46] <+Alpine> "That?"
[22:46] * +Alpine tilts her head. ''What do you mean by 'that'?''
[22:46] <+Editanon> Mallard clears his throat and puts on a more serious face, as serious as it can get with that silly mustache "Further more, if you DO run into any Dark, be it creatures or races, you return home immediately. You do not fight, you do not run, you do NOT hide, you badge out as soon as possible."
[22:47] * +C-Moon waves a hand at Alpine, "Don't worry about it, don't worry."
[22:47] <+Editanon> "You lot are still one stars, as strong and smart as you may be, I do not want you fighting them yet."
[22:48] * ~Abby pouts a little at that, she had hoped to at least study them, and the node especially a little "If that's what you wish Mallard"
[22:48] <+C-Moon> "As long as nothing goes too badly 'that' will never need to be used."
[22:48] * +Ami pouts, smoke rising comically from her head
[22:49] <+Editanon> Mallard smiles once again and sits in his chair "Good, now that we have taken care of all the details. Get yourselves ready and head to the stables. Find something quick and agile and get to the site as fast as you can. Its been a few days already, things just get more difficult as time passes."
[22:50] * ~Abby nods "I just need to change into my work clothes, and retrieve my tanto and deck, I will not be long"
[22:50] * ~Abby turns and hurries off to get changed
[22:51] <+C-Moon> "We're all ready on our end! Jeanne-y and I will meet you all at the stables!"
[22:52] * +Jeanne gives a slight wave before rushing down the stairs
[22:53] * +Alpine walks over to Mallard and gives him a hug. ''Bye, grandpa.''
[22:53] <+Editanon> Mallard pats you on the head "Be safe out there"
[22:54] <+Alpine> "I will, don't worry."
[22:54] * +Jeanne makes it a point to grab Holy Diver before placing C-Moon in her bag.
[22:54] * +Alpine runs out the door, giving one last wave to mallard
[22:54] <+Editanon> The three of you head off in your own directions and make your way outside the entrance of Roost to meet up. If you have any final places to visit or people you want to talk to nows the time
[22:56] <+Editanon> The minutes go by an the three of you are ready to leave. A stable hand approaches you from the far side.
[22:56] <+HolyDiver> "Yo! Horse guy! Can we borrow some transport for a mission?"
[22:56] <+C-Moon> "He means please!"
[22:57] <+Editanon> "Mallards already informed us and has the fees waves, but theres really not much to pick from right now. We only got one horse, three travel hares, and a large runner"
[22:57] <~Abby> "We'll take the fast of them"
[22:57] <+Editanon> "Three hares commin up, itll be a bit bumpy, but these big guys will get you to where you want in no time."
[22:58] * +HolyDiver gestures at Jeanne "Wait, like a rabbit? Can that even carry the girl and I?"
[22:59] <+Editanon> A few minutes later the man comes back with the three animals... that look exactly like their normal sized counterparts... just 10 times the size, slightly bigger then a horse.
[22:59] * ~Abby is wearing an elaborate crimson tunic with gold trim and sleeves that dangle and an open back that shows off her elaborate tattoo of Suzaku, paired with black pants with gold trim and flame like patterns woven in
[22:59] * ~Abby studies the hares "...interesting"
[22:59] * +Alpine giggles. ''Never seen a hare before, have ya?''
[22:59] <+HolyDiver> "Gonna take that one as a yes. Though I gotta say girly. I miss the horses we'd normally use."
[23:00] <+Editanon> "Just make sure you dont pull on their ears real bad an youll be fine."
[23:00] <~Abby> "Thank you for the advice"
[23:00] * ~Abby gets on one of the hares
[23:01] * +HolyDiver gets onto one of the hares as Jeanne gets on behind him grabbing his waist.
[23:01] <+Editanon> The three act like any travel animal should, they sit there waiting for their riders. One is pitch black, another a soft brown, and the third is white with black spots on its tail
[23:02] * ~Abby gets on the black one
[23:02] * +Jeanne is on the brown one
[23:03] * +Alpine is apparently on the white one
[23:04] <+Editanon> "Just pat them on the side of the head or neck an theyll go like the wind, they know basic verbal commands as well, stop go ect. Best of luck out there young ones."
[23:05] * +HolyDiver pats the mount on the side of the head, "Yeah let's go ya giant rabbit thing!"
[23:05] <~Abby> "Thank you" Abby says with nod, as Ami dives into the front of her shirt, peeking her head out and resting there, as abby pats the side of her mounts head
[23:05] <+Alpine> "thanks for everything!"
[23:05] * +Alpine pats the rabbit on the side of the head
[23:05] * +C-Moon waves at the Stable hand from Jeanne's bag
[23:06] <+Editanon> And off the three of you go hopping into the morning light, northeast to your destination
[23:07] <+Editanon> alrighty you three got a choice, skip the day an a half or so to the map, or play it out
[23:08] * ~Abby will leave the decision to the others
[23:08] <+Editanon> playing it out lets you guys do as you please and you might run into things, or might not, not playing it out means you just appear at the map with the time taken care of

[23:09] <+Editanon> thats 2/3 for play, and so it shall be
[23:10] <+Editanon> After about an hour of hopping you reach the river that encircles Roost. A bridge is nearby, however these hares are far to large for it. What do?
[23:10] * +Jeanne tries to see how deep the river is
[23:11] <+Editanon> the river itself is only about 10ft deep, the canyon drop to the river however is over 50ft
[23:12] * +Alpine walks of and tries to get a measure for how wide the gap is
[23:12] <+Editanon> most spots are just over 30ft, give or take
[23:12] <+C-Moon> "Alpy! Do ya think we could jump it?"
[23:13] * ~Abby scratches her chin, unfortunately, animals arent really her specialty, not mundane ones at least
[23:13] <+Editanon> As if it understood, the brown ones nose twitches and its eyes seem to light a blaze. Before you know it the hare is hopping at top speed towards the cliff
[23:14] <+HolyDiver> "Wahoooo! Fly rabbit thing fly!"
[23:14] <~Abby> "...I'd say we have our answer"
[23:14] * ~Abby urges her rabbit to do the same
[23:14] * +Jeanne holds on tight
[23:14] * +Alpine runs back onto the other hare and pats it on the side of the head ''Jump!''
[23:14] * +C-Moon ducks into the bag closing the top to hide
[23:14] <+Editanon> In a brilliant show of rabbit athleticism, it bounds over the gap and lands softly on the other side. You bounce a few times on its back but other then that no worse for ware
[23:15] <+Editanon> Taking after the example of their animal brother, the other two hop at top speed towards the gap
[23:15] <+Editanon> The black one carrying abby clears the gap, but just barely, it comes to a skidding stop at the other side
[23:16] <+Alpine> ''Come on, Snowball! you can do it!"
[23:16] * ~Abby dusts herself off Ami makes angry motions as if cussing out the rabbit
[23:16] <+Editanon> The one carrying Alpine didnt have so much succes, it faltered at the edge and almost didnt make it to the other side, hind legs hanging off over the gap.
[23:16] * ~Abby bops ami on the head
[23:16] <+HolyDiver> "Yeah! Rabbit thing you're the coolest!"
[23:16] * +Ami squeeks and rubs her head
[23:16] <+Editanon> A few seconds later it scratches its way up the cliff side and joins the others
[23:17] <~Abby> "Everyone ok?"
[23:17] <+Editanon> blacky an browny look like there ready for another go at it, spoty not so much. Poor thing is winded slightly
[23:18] <+HolyDiver> "All fine over here!"
[23:18] * +Alpine strokes the hare's back. ''That's a good bunny, you just take it easy for a bit, okay?''
[23:19] <~Abby> "Perhaps we should take a moment to let the animals rest."
[23:20] <+Editanon> A few minutes pass and all is well. Off you three continue, hopping along to the hills.
[23:22] <+Editanon> You continue to follow the river west to your destination, its well past noon and your hares are looking a little sluggish
[23:23] <+Editanon> You can rest again and get everyone something to eat, thats if you brought some food that is, or continue on till nightfall.
[23:23] <+HolyDiver> "H-hey Rabbit thing isn't looking that great."
[23:24] <~Abby> "They've been carrying us for some time, we should let them take another break"
[23:26] <+Alpine> "Oh shoot..."
[23:26] * +Jeanne drools for a bit looking at the mount before shaking any thoughts of eating it from her mind.
[23:26] <+Alpine> "Uh, did anyone else remember to buy food?"
[23:27] <+Editanon> Jeanne your hare just stares at you, as if mocking you 'try it', if it could talk
[23:28] <~Abby> "I was not aware i was going anywhere before i was carried roughly out of my room, so no, I had not prepared any"
[23:29] <+Editanon> Luckily you three remember that the stable hands always pack some kind of food or another in the saddles for their animals, so food shouldnt be a problem
[23:30] <+HolyDiver> "Well, if it comes down to it. The girl and I could always try to fall back on our skills from the past. Can't say you could get full off it though..."
[23:31] <+Editanon> The brown hare does a few short pounces over to Holydiver, and wacks it with its ears
[23:31] <+HolyDiver> "Ow! I meant foraging for food ya rabbit thing!"
[23:31] <+Editanon> It pounces back to its previous spot and you could swear it was laughing
[23:32] <~Abby> "I dont think our mounts appreciate that" Abby giggles
[23:32] <~Abby> "Anyways, we should check the saddle bags before we try anything else"
[23:32] <+Alpine> "Let's see, I think I remember the stable hands saying something about...Yeah, that."
[23:32] <+HolyDiver> "I mean like fruits or edible herbs and stuff. Maybe a small rodent or lizard if we could find one."
[23:34] <+Editanon> After diggin through the saddles you pull out multiple small leather sacks of dried fruit an meats. Your not sure WHAT meat, but its edible.
[23:34] <+HolyDiver> "Enough to keep ya alive, but not much."
[23:34] <+HolyDiver> "Now this on the other hand should be great. Eat up girly."
[23:35] * +HolyDiver hands the food over to Jeanne who begins to eat rather quickly
[23:36] * +Alpine stuffs a handful of meat into her mouth and offers some bits of fruit to 'Snowball'
[23:36] * ~Abby take a little bit and breaks it off handing it to Ami who digs in voraciously, burning it up with every bite, than takes some for herself
[23:36] <+Editanon> Snowball sniffs it a few times then quickly licks it up, she lets out a happy squeek
[23:38] * +Jeanne looks up from a now empty sack of food with a look that says, 'Wait, the fruits were for the rabbits?'
[23:38] <+Editanon> The three hares seem to ignore you as they happily munch on the grass around them
[23:38] * +Alpine shrugs
[23:39] <~Abby> "They seem fine"
[23:40] <+Editanon> After a while everyones bellys are full and you are off again towards your mission.
[23:41] <+Editanon> Night begins to fall and you are close to where you need to be, another few hours and you could push to your destination. Or you can camp here for the night and wait for day break.
[23:42] <~Abby> "...hmmm"
[23:42] <+HolyDiver> "You all! Let's forge on ahead! Those brothers have been waiting long enough for our arrival!"
[23:42] <~Abby> "This si true, but if Dark really are there, we'll be at a disadvantage"
[23:43] <~Abby> "It may be prudent to take caution"
[23:43] <+HolyDiver> "If the Dark are there we're not supposed to fight regardless. Or have you forgotten Mallard's instructions?"
[23:44] <~Abby> "I haven't, but they're the dark, and if we arrive at night, where they have the advantage, they could easily catch us by surprise"
[23:45] <+HolyDiver> "And if the Dark IS there they'll have an advantage on those brothers too. Do you want to wait around while they fight alone against something they have no chance against?"
[23:46] <~Abby> "If the dark is there, the brothers are dead"
[23:47] <~Abby> "It's already been 2 days"
[23:47] <+Alpine> "...How can you say that?"
[23:48] * ~Abby looks sad but continues "I can only say the truth. the odds of two men surviving amidst the dark for 2 days is... small"
[23:48] <~Abby> "I don't like it any more than you"
[23:48] <~Abby> "But... those are the facts"
[23:48] <+HolyDiver> "It may be small, but as long as it's not zero there's still a way for this to end happily."
[23:49] <+Alpine> "If there's even the smallest chance that they're still alive, then shouldn't we hurry all the more?"
[23:49] <+HolyDiver> "And if YOU want to make those chances even smaller then they are, then you can camp here on your own."
[23:49] <+HolyDiver> "Jeanne and I will be heading off regardless of what you think or decide to do."
[23:50] <~Abby> "That's true, but our safety is just as important as theirs, we cannot help them when we're liable to be wiped out ourselves.There is a reason Mallard told us to run if we encountered the dark. i want to help them to but..."
[23:50] <~Abby> "We can't help them if we get beaten to a bloody pulp"
[23:51] <+HolyDiver> "There are fates worse than death you know.......C'mon Jeanne, lets head to the destination."
[23:51] * +Jeanne follows closely behind her puppet towards the brown rabbit once more.
[23:51] * +Alpine looks back and forth between Jeanne and Abby.
[23:51] * ~Abby sighs "There are, you're right. I know this from experience"
[23:52] * ~Abby follows behind
[23:53] <+Editanon> Suddenly far off in the distance, two distorted howls ring through the dimming light of the nights sky. They SOUNDED like wolves, the large mountain types that are normal for this area, but both howls sounded...off
[23:53] <+Editanon> All three hares stop dead in their tracks and refuse to move
[23:53] <~Abby> "..."
[23:54] <+HolyDiver> "Alright Rabbit Thing you go off and hide. We're going on foot from now on."
[23:54] * ~Abby quietly gets off her hare and begins a sort of... dance, elegant, and sort of... disturbing, she begins to glow black as she does so
[23:54] <~Abby> )roll 1d100+300 Eye of the World
[23:54] * +Ami --> "Abby rolls 1d100+300 Eye of the World and gets 363."
[23:55] <+Editanon> You quickly realize that without the hares, that few hour journey to your destination quickly doubles, if not more. If you continue on foot you will not make it till well past morning tomorrow
[23:55] * +Alpine dismounts and quickly grabs her naginata
[23:56] <+Editanon> Through the eye of the world you see a great number of forest creatures to the north, none of them seem to pose a threat and most even scared just as much as your hares
[23:57] <+Editanon> However the howls are far off and to the west, even with the world you still cant make them out, there just to far.
[23:57] <+Editanon> Another pair of distorted howls ring through the night, from the sounds of it they havnt moved.
[23:58] <+Alpine> "So, what should we do?"
[23:58] <~Abby> "...I can't see anything, either it's an illusion, or they're further north"
[23:59] <~Abby> "either way, this is dangerous"
[23:59] * +HolyDiver tries to urge Rabbit Thing to move forward again
[00:00] <+Editanon> Browny refuses to move and puts its head to the ground covering it with its large ears
[00:00] <~Abby> "...give me a moment, I'll scan for invisible phantoms"
[00:00] * ~Abby begins to dance once more,a  bit simpler this time, still sort of disturbing, and she glows black

[00:01] * +Alpine strokes snowball's side ''Come on, girl. We need to keep moving!''
[00:02] <+Editanon> Through true seeing you see, not a whole lot, a handful of water and air spirits float about above the river you are near, none hostile
[00:03] <~Abby> "...that's... odd"
[00:03] <~Abby> "You two aren't just having an off day are you?"
[00:04] <+Editanon> "Will you stop calling us for nothing girly?" a voice rings out "Ya were trin' tah sleep here!" a slightly raspier voice rings out as well, both come from Abby
[00:05] * ~Abby rolls her eye "Oh hush, there's /something/ here"
[00:05] <~Abby> "We might jsut be out of range yet"
[00:06] <+Editanon> Both voices squak and peck Abbys head and repeat in unison "If it was out to get us, it would of got us by now."
[00:06] <+Alpine> "Abby, how are you doing that?"
[00:07] * ~Abby swats "Obviously! But we need to find out /what/ it is. whatever it is is harrying our objective"
[00:07] * ~Abby glances at Alpine "Oh, you havent met have you? Alpine, meet Hugin and Munin"
[00:07] <~Abby> "They're rude and sarcastic, but they're ok"
[00:07] <+Editanon> The crows flutter away from the swat and land back on your shoulders "Were going to sleep" one voice rings "Nighty night girly, dont let the Dark bite."
[00:08] * +Jeanne is looking around at the surrounding area
[00:08] <+Editanon> Alpine an Jeanne, neither of you see these comical birds, but you sure can hear their antics
[00:08] * +Alpine stares blankly at abby
[00:08] <~Abby> "You aren't going /anywhere/ until i let you"
[00:09] <~Abby> "That's our pact, i didn't give you my eye for nothing"
[00:09] <+Editanon> Both crows start to cackle lightly then quickly begin to snore
[00:09] * ~Abby looks to the other 2 "I'm going to scout west, I'll be back in a bit"
[00:09] * ~Abby shakes her head and walks west
[00:10] <+Alpine> "Are you sure you'll be fine by yourself?"
[00:10] * +Jeanne follows behind Abby with HolyDiver in tow
[00:11] * ~Abby nods at Jeanne and replies "I've got Jeanne "
[00:11] <+HolyDiver> "We shouldn't leave the newbie alone."
[00:11] <~Abby> "I can still see her"
[00:11] <+Alpine> "I'll be fine...I think."
[00:12] <~Abby> "If she's in any danger, i will know"
[00:12] <+HolyDiver> "Sure you can know, but can you make it back in time?"
[00:12] <+Editanon> Snowball shuffles over to alpine and rests its head at her feet
[00:12] <~Abby> "Yes"
[00:12] <~Abby> "These 2 have a radius of 1500 feet"
[00:12] * +Alpine begins stroking snowball's head
[00:13] <~Abby> "If you're worried, you can stay behind, I'll be ok"
[00:14] <+HolyDiver> "Nobody is going alone anywhere, because that is the worst idea I've heard you say in the past few minutes."
[00:14] * ~Abby nods "If that's what you believe"
[00:15] <+HolyDiver> "Hey Newbie, follow us. Make sure you don't fall behind."
[00:15] <+Alpine> "but what about snowball and the others?"
[00:16] <+Alpine> "We can't just leave them behind."
[00:17] <~Abby> "Perhaps Jeanne and Diver should stay behind than. I will not be going far, as such it shouldnt be too dangerous, and if anything attacks the camp, I trust diver should eb enough to at least hold them at bay"
[00:17] <~Abby> "What do you think diver?"
[00:18] <+HolyDiver> "You DO know I'm just a puppet with a given personality right? But either way, I guess I can hold down the camp here. Make sure to keep an eye on the newbie........and yourself."

[00:18] <~Abby> "And that would be?"
[00:19] <+HolyDiver> "If you hear a loud crash and a roar that sounds like a bad imitation of a lion, I want you to port back to base with no questions asked."
[00:20] <~Abby> "If i hear such a thing i will return to help you immediately, because that's what a team does"

[00:20] <~Abby> "You may have a bit more experience than me, but dont underestimate me"
[00:21] <+HolyDiver> "If that happens, it means there is something above our level here. Something we aren't strong enough to beat, but 'that' should be able to hold it off for a bit."

[00:22] <+Editanon> Another pair of howls echo through the night. They both do not seem to have moved at all if your ears are hearing it right.

[00:22] <+Editanon> Browny an blacky huddle up near Alpine and snowball
[00:22] <+HolyDiver> "You think I'm staying for much longer after that? I'm just getting the rabbits to run off on their own. They know the way back. Soon as they get away Jeanne and I are porting out too."

[00:23] <~Abby> "I'm not going to let you face something like that on your lonesome"

[00:25] <+HolyDiver> "I don't think the rabbits will move, and I'm not sure I could carry one without getting kicked."

[00:29] <+Editanon> As you walk around the plains an near the forest nothing stands out, a few critters scurry in the distance but nothing big and mean. If either of the crows see somethin they sure arent speakin up about it.
[00:32] <~Abby> after Abby finishes her circuit, she returns back to camp "Nothing is near us. I suggest we camp here and sleep. if these are dark, they might go away at dawn"
[00:35] * +HolyDiver sighs for a bit, "If the Rabbits aren't willing to take us and walking would take us longer than just camping out, I guess we have no choice."
