  6. tsarbomba: There are no semites.

  10. Semite is a folk anthropology term invented around 1900 by a Jewish partisan to compete in the region.
  11. Monfd
  12. You just say Jew.
  13. Monfd
  14. Why is the term still used today by journalists?
  15. Monfd
  16. Well, every single journalist who uses the term is obviously demonstrating incuriosity about the topics they cover.

  20. First used in the 1770s by members of the Göttingen School of History, the terminology was derived from Shem, one of the three sons of Noah in the Book of Genesis,[6] together with the parallel terms Hamites and Japhetites. The terminology is now largely obsolete outside linguistics.[7][8][9] However, in archaeology, the term is sometimes used informally as "a kind of shorthand" for ancient Semitic-speaking peoples.[9]

  22. Anthropologists of the 19th century such as Ernest Renan readily aligned linguistic groupings with ethnicity and culture, appealing to anecdote, science and folklore in their efforts to define racial character. Moritz Steinschneider, in his periodical of Jewish letters Hamaskir (3 (Berlin 1860), 16), discusses an article by Heymann Steinthal[16] criticising Renan's article "New Considerations on the General Character of

  24. the Semitic Peoples, In Particular Their Tendency to Monotheism".[17] Renan had acknowledged the importance of the ancient civilisations of Mesopotamia, Israel etc. but called the Semitic races inferior to the Aryan for their monotheism, which he held to arise from their supposed lustful, violent, unscrupulous and selfish racial instincts. Steinthal summed up these predispositions as "Semitism", and so Steinschneider c

  37. Monfd
  38. All religions are atheist projects.

  41. The Christian ideal is a collection of mental states.
  42. Monfd
  43. Explicit atheists (as opposed to the Christian atheists) are just as able to achieve these mental states. An investigation of these mental states indicates they're related to openness and high-empathy.
  44. Monfd
  45. Explicit atheists often have higher rates of these two traits, for example, because they're less tribalistic as evidence by their abandoning of the totem -- theos -- at the center of theistic-tribal mental states.
  46. Monfd
  47. That is why many atheists are more Christian than Christians, especially American Christians (which is extremely tribalistic at this point in history).
  48. Monfd
  49. This is easy to explain when you use scientific ontology where 'religion' is a sub-type (among other traits in the graph) of 'community organization structure'.
  50. 14:06 Monfd
  51. If you use theistic ontology, then atheism diverges near the root node as a different type of metaphysics, and it's very hard to explain the above.

  54. Monfd
  55. Surprisingly, many atheists continue to use a theistic ontology.
  56. Monfd
  57. Which makes sense from an HLC perspective -- history-language-culture -- as they were born into a theistic HLC ontology and it's a greater part of the landscape than the theos they previously detected and abandoned.
