Dee Learns of Killian's Death

[21:03] August says, "It seems one of our members has fallen."
[21:04] Dee asks, "Which one?"
[21:05] August asks, "Killian. Did you know him?"
[21:06] August whispers: you didnt see that..
[21:08] Dee's eyes widened as she inhaled sharply. Killian? For a few moments she said nothing simply looking off into space as she recalls her arrival at the Academy and her conversations with Killian. It wasn't until she heard August whisper to her that her focus returned, pupils narrowed as she brought him back into focus. Her expression eased out into a smooth smile.

"Yes, I knew him."

Her words came out calmly and concisely. An extra effort put into maintaining her tone.

"Could you tell me what happened?"

[21:11] He thought about it for a moment, he had only spoken to Killian a couple times although he was a good person all around. He looked towards Dee before he'd try to relay the information Cedar had told him.

"I believe vampires got him I don't know many of the details but.. when they received his body it was only ash." He spoke slowly lowering his face towards the ground.

[21:25] Dee's calm expression remained steady as she listened to the details. After they had been relayed she offered an even nod to August. "I understand. Killian was the one who inspired me to pursue Alchemy, gardening, and a mastery of poison magic." Her gaze shifted towards Yuanzi as he arrived, an amicable smile spread across her features.

"Hello Yu, I take it you have heard the news?"

[21:29] He sighed towards Dee, he could tell she was clearly upset by the tragedy in a way she'd probably feel the same what about Killian as he does for Aaron.

"I'm sorry Dee, no one should have to go through this. Shouldn't have to live our entire lives on edge." He spoke shaking his head before Yuanzi would approach, he'd give a quick low "Hey Yu." he refrained from saying anything else since Dee had already asked the question he intended to.

[21:35] As Yuanzi comes down the stairs to find Dee and August, his features are noticeably different than usual. No smile, yet no frown. Just a deadpan expression on his face. The Drakanite's tail twists and lashes about irritably behind him.

"Heard the news..?"

His voice was quiet like a mumble. He had indeed known what occurred, but 'heard the news' wasn't quite so accurate. He takes a couple more steps forward.

"No. I saw the news. I saw Ethric carrying Killian's cold, burnt body. They're trying to preserve the body in hopes of... I don't fucking know. Reviving them, I guess?"

His tone grew louder and more agitated as he progressed. Far too emotionally distressed to even think about taking a seat, he begins to pace about while his tail continues to react accordingly with his mood.

"This shit shouldn't be happening in the first place! I'm so sick of it! If it isn't people getting hurt, it's people dying. I have other friends I haven't even seen in over a year! They're probably dead too."

He can't help but think about Frisky, in particular. He had a habit of wandering into bad situations and had been missing in action for quite some time. It was fair that he would assume the worst.

[21:47] Her hands came to clasp together, holding them at her waist as she looked at Yuanzi. Noting that he was very upset at the news and not doing very well to handle the situation.

"I believe you are correct Yuanzi in my experience a person who hasn't been seen in over a year they most likely are dead." She frowned slightly at she spoke. Though, what could you do? Live life the best you could do.

"Still, this means we've got a Vampire to kill." As she spoke her lips pressed into a thin line. Glancing from Yu to August and back again. "Which mean's we're going to have to get training overtime and learn as best we can. Mess with one Silver Dragon, mess with all."

[21:53] He watched as Yu would talk about the event that had just occurred. He was obviously irritated and upset, but with the circumstances who isn't?

He wait until they we're both done speaking to say something himself. He was thinking about what he could do to help, until he spoke.

"I agree Yu, something has to change people cannot just keep getting injured left and right."

He shook his head, he couldn't grasp his head around it why would someone do this to Killian, this couldn't have just been a simple wrong place wrong time interaction?

He looked towards Dee before he'd let out another big sigh, "I agree we're going to half to train so that when the time comes we're prepared." He said with a small smile.

He muttered, in response to Dee's mention of a vampire needing killing. He begins to tap his feet on the floor to help exert some of the energy he'd built up amongst all the emotional distress. He nods to Dee, since he agrees that his long-unseen friends very likely are dead.

"I'm tired of doing absolutely nothing about it all but honestly? What are we going to do? Everyone that goes anywhere near those things just drops like a fly. If not, they're lucky to walk away with bite marks in their neck."

He sighs, slamming his right hand down on his leg.

"You're right, though. Mess with one Silver Dragon, mess with them all... August, we all train, all the time. Look what good it did everyone else."

He seemed quite defeated on the matter.

[22:17] Dee settled down on the bench, bringing a leg up and crossing it over her other leg. Her hands came to clasp together upon her knees. This was a messy situation and she wasn't sure exactly how to handle it. It was one thing to have to devise a plan on how to deal with Immortal killing machines but it was another to deal with the death of someone she viewed as a mentor.

"The Vampires are weapons of Achyon. Achyon is at war with Osrona. If we wish to deal damage to the menace the best route to take is through Osrona. I am not fond of siding with the weak." Her cerulean hues glanced towards her friends. "What do you two think?"

[22:27] As his friend continued on with the information August's posture would just seem to be worn out. His eyes were low and he couldn't pick his chin up. In a way he felt the same way as Yuanzi did, especially after Aarons talk with him earlier, he told Aaron he wanted to help and Aaron told him to stay far away.

Of course Aaron is looking out or August's future like he probably should.. He nodded his head at the end of his response, "We'll get them back, one day we can return the gesture they have set upon us." He muttered, his tone much more serious.

He walked towards the bench, after all he needed to sit down he waited for Dee to respond, tapping his foot on the ground his anxiety rippled through him.

He nodded agreeing with Dee's statement, "I agree Osrona has done nothing but good for us, Achyon is the real threat here." He softly spoke, his gaze still peering towards the ground.

[22:33] Yuanzi turned to face Dee and August, listening to them both in silence before deciding to chime in again, first responding to Dee's question.

"Xuelian told me the vampire is an outlaw from Achyon, actually. This was a one man job, and a one man decision."

He paused for a moment, sighing.

"Regardless, you're right. Achyon have done nothing but bring misery to most of the people I know."

With that, he nodded, coming to some sort of conclusion in his head.

"Yeah, I'd side with Osrona. If that's what I need to do to get something done."

After all, he too, much like August, was constantly told to stay out of things. Don't get involved. Worry about staying alive. What was the point if everyone around him was just going to die instead? He'd rather risk his life at this point to achieve progress, instead of idly sit around and wait for everyone to die.

"If the other Silvers are going to insist I stay out of it, because I'm inexperienced, or whatever the reason, I'll just find another option."

He seemed quite intent on the Osrona suggestion now that Dee had brought it up, and was beginning to calm down somewhat now that he had a clearer goal.

[22:44] Dee brought a hand up to rub her chin as she considered her friends choice and ponders if this was a mistake. Had she inadvertently put her friends on the path of serving Osrona? That wasn't her intention, well not really.

"I'm not sure that we should sign our lives away mind you. I don't trust Osrona, my familes got a... History with the city." She paused for a second as if pondering whether or not she wanted to explain what that history was. Then she just shook her head and continued.

"I do believe that if we offered our aid as auxiliaries or mercenaries though? We could avoid becoming entangled with their corrupt military while making progress on our goal." Clearly she wasn't very keen on becoming a soldier of the city proper.

"I sparred with one of their Noble Matriarchs not long ago. Perhaps, if I spoke to her she would work as a go between with us and the government proper." She let out a sigh. "I know that sounds mercenary but its what I got."

[22:53] He leaned back against the bench as he pushed the hair out of his face with a grunt. He'd take a minute to grasp everything before he'd finally speak.

"I wasn't saying we should sign our lives away, I've already been offered that choice by both militaries. Although Dee, you're onto something I like where your heads at, I think that would be a much better option than being dictated by someone just like we are here." He spoke.

He didn't mean it in a disrespectful way towards the Military, its just that he had already followed so many orders and yet people still wound up where they were today. He couldn't help but think for a second if he would've done more it could have changed the outcome.

He peered between them before he'd look back at Dee, he grip his hand attempting to hide his trembling, though it wasn't to fear rather just anxious. "That's a smart idea, It might be our best shot currently." He spoke.

[23:00] Becoming quite overzealous in his current state, Yuanzi once against deescalates his stance and rephrases his words, since he too did not intend on joining the military forces of Osrona.

"I'm not joining any army. I'm not subjecting myself to becoming a tool for either nation to use to kill each other. That's the reason we have messes like this in the first place."

He clasps and rubs his hands together. The friction giving off quite a lot of heat as he noticeably can't keep his energy contained within his body, choosing to exert it through a slow but steady stream of mana exertion. It wasn't much, but since August was right next to him, he could probably notice the heat the most.

"I like your idea, too. I don't want to sign my life to Osrona, but I'm more than happy to help them hunt down a menace that needs to die."

With that, he fell silent and his gaze shifted to the floor. He seemed to be in deep thought.

[23:17] Dee let out a sigh, good her friends were listening to her and didn't actually intend to join up with the Second Dawn. Her head bobbed in a nod as she spoke again.

"The question is how many of the Silver Dragons would join us. If I have more Magi willing to fight it'd certainly make things easier." She looked up as Aaron ran past stating he'd break someone's leg. Oh, well that sounded excited and Aaron probably could do that.

Her focus shifted back to the two of them. "Though, I'll be honest I would still like to focus on my studies. Which, as the leader here. I will stress that you two don't get carried away. I will speak with the Grimmore about our assistance but you can't slack on your education. We're more than just weapons. You know? We've got lives beyond our revenge."

[23:18] Dee says, "I do not, please join us."
[23:18] "Thank you." Kiemi'a scooted over to take his seat. He's looking awfully melancholy, after having checked the infirmary.

[23:25] He peered back towards Yuanzi as he see a small stream of smoke come the corner of his eye. He'd place his hand on Yuanzi's shoulder before he'd speak.

"We're going to be able to do this. But Dee is right, we can't get overwhelmed and charge in now, it'll only result in failure. It's something we're just going to have to hold onto for a minute. Let it be the thing that drives you." He spoke his head nodding.

He returned his sea blue gaze back towards Dee, "You're right, we can't just throw ourselves in there. We wouldn't be much help. However the Silver's are working on it as we speak, I'm absolutely sure of it." He spoke, finally breaking his frown with a big smile towards her.

[23:29] Kiemi'a sensed that his fellow silvers are feeling that loss too, though they appear to be staving off the pain well. At least, that's what he sees... It's hard picking yourself up from such an event...but August has the right of it. Only thing the group can do is move forward. But not in reckless abandon.

[23:34] After some time, it seemed that Yuanzi was finally able to settle a lot of the energy that was causing him to be quite fidgety and whatnot. As August's hand makes contact with his shoulder, he sighs once more.

"I know. I know the other Silver's probably have their own plan. I just wish I was strong enough to be part of it."

Honestly, he had fallen behind some of his other Silver's in terms of combat capabilities. Somewhat due to his focus on his studies instead, somewhat due to his tendency to be one of the few people sane enough at Starfall to avoid most conflict.

"I'm not going to run out and get myself killed, and I know you two wont either-"

He pauses, glancing over to Kiemi'a who has also arrived not too long ago.

"You three-- I suppose. Or so I would hope Kiemi'a wouldn't do anything reckless."

He nods towards the three of them since they all seem to be on roughly the same page.

"The last few years I've been here, I kept thinking that the Shadowmire was going to be the thing I had to prepare myself for. I've spent the last 2 years studying so much about that place. I feel like I wasted so much time... It isn't even them stirring trouble. It's Achyon and these vampires... I feel like I know so little..."

Even with their plan discussed, he still felt quite defeated and powerless. Both his knowledge and his strength were not enough to handle the current threat.

[23:38] Kiemi'a would shake his head. "I wouldn't think of throwing myself into danger if I can help it..."

And he won't be able to for a long while. He's not much in the way of offense, and he really wished he could stand beside his comrades in the front lines, not behind. He didn't catch the plans, but like Hel he would do something stupid as go into the Mire again.

[23:48] Dee let out a sigh as she leaned back and pressed her head against the cool stones behind them. She wasn't sure how to go about things and it seemed like they'd their own plans. She looked over to Yuanzi.

"Could you fill me in on what you've learned of the Mire? I've not done the research I should have. Yes, I am aware that its not them that have caused the problems yet they exist and are strong. I heard that they hate Vampires as well. Perhaps..." She didn't say anything past that.

Her gaze shifted to Kiemi'a "That's a good attitude, I'm sorry I don't believe we've met. I am Dee Angelos, pleasure to meet you." As she spoke she brought a hand to her chest, nodding her head slightly as she leaned off the stones. "We've been plotting out some course of action to deal with Killian's death. Better to go forward with a plan."

[23:53] Yuanzi nods to Dee, first and foremost. He was happy to share information he had been gathering for himself through studies. Even if texts were limited about the area.

"I have a place I usually go to for that kind of stuff... It's sort of a secret, though, so I'll have to maybe show you some other time..."

Thorn's words echoed in his head as a reminder that he was told not to show that place to anyone... Surely it was fine to show even one or two people, maybe...

"I can't speak to who they do or don't hate, but I know their traditions, culture, at least some of their species... that kind of stuff. I felt the need to become a bit more well informed after running into a Nethradin when I was 13..."

He shivers somewhat even remembering that foul smiling creature.

"At the moment, from what I understand, a decent fraction of the mire are part of some sort of cult... I've also come to understand that if you are well versed in their culture as well as respect it, they tend to not give you too much hassle..."

He clears his throat.

"Although I haven't tested that myself... I've been told that if you pay their blood toll, you can come and do as you please freely."

[23:57] Kiemi'a waved to Dee, in an attempt to greet a new acquaintance. He sure as hell can't talk about the Mire, seeing he's only been there once.

"Kiemi'a. Kiemi'a Shezorei. Pleasure is mine."

Then when talk of the Mire was discussed, he could vouch for one thing: the toll. It was just a small amount, but it was a nerve-wracking experience.

"I can vouch for the blood toll...kinda. It did seem to placate them, save for one..."

[00:04] Dee gave Kiemi'a a smile, though they then turned back to Yuanzi. Listening to his answer about what the Mire was and how to handle it. When the blood toll came about she gave a nod. "I paid a toll to a Dryad at one point. They were a giant tree monster." She paused and brought a hand up to her chin.

"I think that we could just pay the toll and get passage. However, I also think if we showcased that we are strong we could earn respect. Maybe?" A soft sigh escape her lips. "Though, I just don't know."

[00:10] He'd stay silent allowing the three to talk, he let out a quiet sigh and stretched out his arms. Yuanzi summed it up really good, that's about all the information August knew himself.

"We tried to give our blood, and they took it and still came after us. Probably because we had nine people there, but what I'm saying is it's hard to rely on, but I think we have a better chance at giving our blood than showing off our power, but I could be wrong." He spoke once again pressing his back against the bench putting one leg over the other.

Kiemi'a nodded, remembering the last time a disaster like that happened. The guys that were willing to put up a fight... well... He shook his head to shove those memories away. He fiddled with his staff, hoping it'd calm his nerves.

"They're powerful beings to begin with, and not even several of those nine that stood their ground could leave a dent in one monster. You...you could guess how well that incident turned out. And well...that incident is the reason why I want to become a medic."

[00:19] Yuanzi nods to all three of them as they speak, one by one. The discussion about how the mirefolk would approach the young students was an important one to be had, as sometimes luck was necessary to ensure you happen upon the less dangerous, more hospitable monsters.

"Strength likely wont impress them, and blood likely wont be enough..."

It's a little trickier than that, since they were often quite finicky creatures.

"I think... It depends what we run into. Some will respond better to respect, others to strength. For some, simply the toll may be enough. If we're unlucky, we may even need all three."

He pauses for a moment, waiting for Kiemi'a to speak, giving himself some time to think of a way to wrap up his point about the Mire without rambling too much. Kiemia's point was also quite valid, so he nodded once more.

"I actually think... If we keep it between ourselves, that in either seeking support or lending some sort of assistance... It may be beneficial. I usually wouldn't advocate it, but as we all know, the Vampires are becoming a dangerous threat. If we go, I think I may be able to talk our way through..."

He was really 50/50 on this matter. He felt that he may have developed enough knowledge on the Shadowmire to keep everyone safe...

But on the off chance he was wrong...
