  5. - Marketplace.tf has a key price which fluctuates with the market, but generally costs about $2 USD per key
  6. - Keys bought there are instantly tradable, unlike keys from Steam Community Market (SCM) and Mann Co Store, which have a 1 week delay
  7. - Keys bought there are cheaper than SCM and Mann Co Store (these charge around $2.50 USD per key)
  8. - Currently there is a promo code 'uncle': Buy ten keys, get 1 free! - Sadly now only usable once every 24hrs, so the maximum discount is obtained by buying ten keys, and getting one free, once every 24hrs. Premeditate your purchase in advance if you want to take maximum advantage of this

  20. Marketplace.tf is a sister site to the ever popular scrap.tf, also made by Geel. Marketplace.tf is a commonly used site to buy keys cheaper and faster than steam community market and mann co store. The idea behind marketplace.tf, to my knowledge, is this: it intends to provide a platform for approved sellers to sell their items for cash, rather than in-game items. The issue with direct paypal trades between buyer and seller is that with certain paypal transfers, the funds can be retracted (the technical term is ‘chargeback’) up to 3months after the transaction. This is one kind of paypal scam. Marketplace.tf instead, offers a platform for sellers to sell their items and absorbs the risk of a scam, for the price of 10% of the sale price of the items (if I recall correctly). Ie. Geel guarantees you a safe trade and a spot to advertise on his site for 10% of the sale price. Sellers deposit their items in marketplace.tf bots, which will automatically trade offer them to the buyer once purchased.

  22. In order to purchase keys from marketplace.tf, here are the steps:
  23. (1) Login to site with steam account
  24. (2) Add your payment type (most likely a card)
  25. (3) verify your card (IMPORTANT!)
  26. (4) Place order -> Don't forget the promo code 'uncle' for buy ten keys get 1 free! You need to make separate transactions for this, but it's quite worth it! (Sorry, now only usable once every 24hrs as said above).

  28. (6) accept trade offers from bots containing your purchased keys.

  30. What is verification and why?
  31. To minimise credit card fraud, ie using a stolen credit card to buy keys for example, marketplace.tf asks you to verify your card. This means they will charge you 2 small sums between $0.01 and $1 USD, and ask you to tell them how much was charged. These sums will be refunded. Naturally, only the owner of the card to view the charges can verify the card. Without verification, marketplace.tf do not allow any substantial key purchase and any key purchase will need admin approval.

  33. Note that the keys purchased will be trade offered to you by bots, and as this appears to be one user account to another, the keys will be immediately tradable. In summary, cheap and tradable keys for cash.

  35. Why not an independent paypal seller?
  36. - You can, they do basically the same service and can charge less than marketplace.tf. However, they absorb the risk of a scam and hence are usually unwilling to sell large volumes of keys to a single new buyer in a span of 3 months. You need to build a longstanding trusted relationship with key paypal sellers to be able to buy meaningful volumes of keys.
