PC Engine CD Walkthrough v0.5 by M. Walrus

Note: Map is from an older computer version of the game, but still shows general locations.  Older version did not have roads, so you won't see those on this map.  Some maze-like areas in the forests and other places have been changed also.


---Part 1: (Area 1)

Urvan Village - Go to bar and recruit warrior after talking to people and gathering money.  Choose first option for all dialogs.  Buy better sword & armor for main char.

Prayer Hill - Get treasures, gain party member & fight boss.  Boss can kill you in one turn if you didn't get the good armor in town.

Urvan Village - Talk to everyone and head to cave NW of town

NW Urvan Cave (not on map) - Just NW of town along the mountain.  Loot treasures and meet mage.  Answer first option to recruit and fight boss.

Ervad Town - SW of Urvan.  CASINO TIME (or later if not saved $700).  Check for new Equipment.  Colliseum for exp and $500 for the hard fights.  If you do 5 fights including the hard ones (bottom option), it seems they lock you out from *all* colliseums, so try to only do 4 and leave.  Talk to everyone in town, then go to the bar.  See cutscene in bar and then head to building left of bar with soldier in front.  You'll fight the guards, then clear the building and end up in Ervad Castle.  Talk and get loot in SE room, head to Sada's Fort NE of Ervad Town.

Sada's Fort - NE of Ervad Town.  Meet with resistance leader.  After cutscene where soldiers leave, head to Zam Fortress in NW.

Zam Fortress - Recommended level: At least 15.  Soldiers break in.  Enter dungeon and open all cells, search and fight boss.  This can be a tough battle.  Make sure to get treasure in next cell over with the key he drops, as this is your only opportunity.  End up in next area.


---Part 2: (Area 2)

Kildale City - SW of Zam Fortress.  Talk to person in bar to buy item for 100 gold.  Buy best armor and weapons can afford.  Try Casino in Ervad first if need money.

Ovingston Cave - N of Zam Fortress West, on other side of trees.  After cutscene, explore and grab items.  Cutscene with dragon at end.

Kildale City - Talk to everyone. (?)

Srosh Cave - Explore until you find the treasure at end, past flame/warp traps.

Kildale City - Buy Wine from item shop (bottom item) and give it to guy in house above bar.  Take the note he gives you back to item shop and choose 2nd option.  You'll get Evil Armor to get past guards next.

Arpath Stronghold - When approaching you'll be prompted to put on the Evil Armor.  Choost the first option to do so, then head inside.  Head down to the south fort through the east wall passage, talk to soldier at exit and battle with first option for easy xp.  End up in new area.


---Part 3: (Area 3)

Frawardi City - Buy armor.  Skip weapons.  Go to the Casino if you need money.  Head to Coliseum if you want to try some battles for experience (I was not able to do anything there after this next part, so try going before continuing).  Talk to everyone and then head to Bar.  Choose top option, buy drink for $20.  Ask all questions besides bottom one, starting with second one.  Talk to guy by door to left and he will move.  Go in, talk to the Resistance leader and you will give him the note.  After talking to him, talk to the guy with the red bandana to get a full heal item.

Palace NW Frawardi City - Fight your way in, talk to the bartender and search until you find a boss with a cutscene first.  Kill the grunts first before the boss for a quick win.

Frawardi City - Head back to the hideout through the bookcase in a house in the NE corner of town.  Talk to the Resistance leader again.  After cutscene head east to the woods.

Dadarwa Village - Head SE from Frawardi City to get here.  SE house has a new party member.  After they join, talk to person with red bandana for an item(?).  Afterwards new party member will open path to the east.  Equip the slower but stronger weapon in their inventory.

Dadarwa Forest - Follow the path to the village, using the provided map.  This is the first very maze-like area.  None of the dead-ends have anything, so just cruise straight through to the village near the top.

Nanai Village - Talk to everyone in town and then head south to the rock, and walk around the left side until you get to a cave entrance.

Gomez's Nest - Go straight up and follow enemy leaving green trail until avalanche.  Head back the way you came near the entrance, and go down the left path now and circle up and then to the right to continue following the trail.  After the cutscene, continue down the trail and battle the boss.

Nanai Village - Go in SE house and talk to girl and she disappears. Leave town.

Dadarwa Village - Talk to everyone (?)

Frawardi City - Talk to everyone (?) and then head to NE cave, by following tree line.

Resistance Cave - Get all the items and then talk to the Resistance leader and he will join you.

Arpath Stronghold - Head back west to the stronghold and go to the gate, and enter the inner stronghold door after a cutscene. Grab items and fight boss on left side of 4th floor before taking north stairs to 5th. As before, just kill all the minions first and its an easy fight. Talk to group on 5th floor and then take south exit. Exit the fortress from the north and return to Kildale City in the NE.


---Part 4: (Back to areas 2 & 1)

Kildale City - Fight enemies blocking door to bar.  This could be a tough fight.  Talk to everyone in the bar.  Head to the center of the city and talk to the hostage.  An ambush occurs and you'll have another boss fight.  After the cutscene, the townspeople will return, and new weapons/armor are available.

Zam Fortress - Talk to guy by gate and then head into inner door.  Open the cells on the 3rd floor and you'll find a guard.  Answer his questions with the 2nd option each time and keep fighting him to get an item and clear all monsters from the dungeon.  Continue to exit and meet three people at the gate.

Ervad Town - Head east and then south back to Ervad town.  Everyone is missing from town and there will be a short cutscene when you enter.  Go into the SW house where you fought the enemies before, and back to the map room.  Read the map on the table and then exit the room to the right and go to another table for a cutscene that takes you to a secret passage.  Skip the north corridor here and continue left into a door, which leads to another cutscene.  Leave the building and you will find the townspeople have returned.  Talk to lady with 2 kids in NE corner house for a nice piece of armor for the main character.  Go to Sada's fort in the NE of town and you can get the three chests in the SE corner that were previously blocked.  Take fast travel at inn to Kildale City (2nd option).

Kildale City - Talk to both ladies in center of city below item shops.  One of them gives you an item.  Enter the house left of them, above the bar.  Talk to the guy inside again and try both dialog options (don't know if this is necessary, but it's new).  Take quick travel from Inn to Frawardi City (3rd option).

Frawardi City - Check for new equipment in shops.  Buy the bottom weapon for a party member that will join soon.  Walk back SE to through Dadarwa Village to the forest.

Nanai Village - Pass through the forest back to the village.  Enter the inn and go in the left side room and talk to your old party member (archer), and he will join again.  Leave back the way you came through the forest and return to Dadarwa Village.

Dadarwa Village - Talk to chief in SE house.  After the conversation, walk up to the shelves in the front room to grab an item, and then head back into the forest and through Nanai Village to Gomez's Nest.

Gomez's Nest - Do not actually go in the cave this time.  Instead, keep heading right from the cave entrance, to a newly opened path through the woods.

Dadarwa Temple - After making your way through the long and windy path (use your map and don't search dead ends- there's nothing), you'll end up at the temple.  Head inside and talk to the angel looking woman by the altar.  After choosing all the dialog options, choose the bottom option and you'll get an item.  Leave the temple and walk back the way you came, and you'll be warped out.

Frawardi City - Head to the inn and take fast travel back to Ervad Town (2nd option).

Ervad Town - Head south to Ervad Castle, but instead of going in, continue east along the forest edge.  Follow as the mountain area moves further north until it hits a peak, and after a short conversation you'll enter the forest.

Jermeth Forest - Use map to chart a way directly to the temple in the north of the forest.  Avoid side paths as there is no loot.

Jermeth Cave - Enter the temple and go to the door in the back to enter a cave.  Make your way to each colored dot on the map and touch each of the emblems.  There is a grave in the center with a clue for opening a door ahead.  Pay attention to the order of the colors.  Head to the door NW of the grave and step on the tiles in this order: Yellow, Light Blue, Red, Green, Purple/Dark Blue.  Cutscene, walk up to artifact and battle dragon boss. You will be teleported out of the woods when you leave.

Ervad Town - Walk past the castle back to town, and head to the inn to fast travel to Kildale City (2nd option).


---Part 5: (Area 2.5)

Kildale City - Take the road out of town all the way north until you reach a bridge.  When you cross some soldiers will fight you.  Continue west to the fortress.

Mithramifl Fortress - When you walk into the gate, more guards will show up and fight.  Enter fortress,head left and get chest along path.  Continue until you see a wide set of stair to the next floor. Follow the path up along the wall to the center of the northern walkway, and take the stairs to the lower area, moving SE to the stairs leading to the middle buildings.  Head to the door in the left building and fight an easy battle to proceed.  Continue inside and down the stairs to a cutscene & boss fight.  Open the chest after the battle for a great piece of armor for your healer.  Walk back out of the fortress and after some dialogue, follow the road south to a new city.
