Studies were done on the brain to analyze which areas correlated to the big five personality traits. Over a hundred participants were examined for this research study. In the research, it was found that different areas of the brain do light up when certain traits are present. Although results looked promising for the big five, they should be taken with a grain a salt since it is hard to prove cause-effect and there was also results that were null or invalid. This is however a great step in personality research in trying to understand what causes behavior and how it is linked to our brains.
