  2. First results of the Staff Survey
  3. 21 January 2020

  5. Effectory has presented the main results of the UG Staff Survey to the Board of the University, the faculty boards, management and members of the Local Consultative Committee and the University Council. Compared with the last survey in 2018, the results show a slight improvement in six of the 10 topics covered (enthusiasm, commitment, vitality, leadership, long-term employability and autonomy). The results for the other four topics (satisfaction, employment practices, atmosphere and social safety) were not significantly different. The response rate (60.6%) was similar to that in 2018 (61.8%).

  7. The Board of the University was pleased with the results. ‘The results show that staff at the UG are enthusiastic about their work and generally feel engaged with their colleagues. They experience a degree of autonomy when carrying out their duties. Concerns have been raised about the UG as an employer, the pressures of work and the appreciation felt by staff; these are matters that we shall have to address’, says UG President Jouke de Vries.

  9. Plans forged after the first survey in 2018 included reducing the workload and increasing social safety within the UG. Jouke de Vries: ‘The Staff Survey has proved its worth as a catalyst for change over the past two years. We must now analyse the results of this survey and take new measures to improve the working environment. We are on the right path, but there is still some way to go.’
