  8. Welcome to my FAQ for G-Man: Quest for a Cure. In this game you play as a
  9. mysterious government agent known only as the G-Man, and your objective is
  10. to figure out how to work with dolphins to develop a cure for post-traumatic
  11. stress disorder, a disease that has plagued the dolphins for millennia.
  12. Basically, this game is about dodging bullets and running while also
  13. working to get a dolphin cure, and hopefully save the government.
  14.
  15. [after absolutely nailing it on the first sentence, that one trailed off into some shit about Contra.]

  22. Welcome to my FAQ for G-Man: Quest for a Cure. In this game you play as a

  25. stress disorder, a disease that has plagued the dolphins for millennia.
  26. Unfortunately, the government is deeply superstitious and the cure is
  27. somewhere on the ocean floor somewhere between us and them...but the
  28. reward is enormous...the ability to generate huge destructive energies,
  29. emeralds that can change the very fabric of reality, and much more.
  30. This game is a blast to play, as well as one of the best on the Genesis.

  48. 1) Story
  49. -----------------------
  50.
  51. The year is 2079. The citizens of Earth complain of long hours at the
  52. laboratory. The G-Man, an alter-ego of Dr. Manhattan (the inventor of
  53. the world's first universal man-to-man transportation protocol), has
  54. taken over a number of orphaned children. He is a robotic dolphin-like
  55. alien that has been trained to be a servant of humanity. He is
  56. apparently in love with one of the orphaned children himself.
  57.
  58. The G-Man has arranged for all of humanity's major cities to receive
  59. a batch of specially designed nano-prototypes. The entire country
  60. is to receive a batch of them upon the very same day in order to
  61. complete the experiment. The entire world is to be provided with
  62. free shipping throughout the entire world in exchange for the
  63. renewed lives of the poor orphans and micro-organisms.
  64.
  65. The G-Man is very frustrated. The first batch of nano-prototypes were
  66. being held by the government facilities of the United States. The
  67. G-Man is very frustrated. He wants the city's poor children to receive
  68. a better life. He wants them to know that there is hope for them. The
  69. first batch of nano-prototypes were created at Area 51, where the government
  70. secretary was located. The government facilities were heavily modified
  71. in order to make sure that the nano-prototypes would work with as much
  72. accuracy and predictability as possible.
  73.
  74. The G-Man does not have the luxury of funding research. The government
  75. funding is not sufficient to capture the costs of these experimental nano-
  76. prototypes. The first nano-prototype prototype is being held by the
  77. government-run facilities at Area 51. The G-Man is in dire need of
  78. funds, and this situation will be made painfully clear in due time.
  79.
  80. The G-Man does not have the resources to create new nano-prototypes. The
  81. availability of funding is severely limited. The National Security
  82. Agency (NSA) is in dire need of funds to fund their many research
  83. projects.
  84.
  85. The G-Man does not have the resources to maintain fighter or
  86. offensive capabilities. The United States of America do not have the
  87. resources to fully fund all of the above listed requirements.
  88.
  89. The only way for the G-Man to fund research is to maintain an army of
  90. superfreighters and other such equipment. The G-Man does not have
  91. to produce an immense amount of personnel to maintain this operation.
  92. He simply has to keep the ships and the cargo space free of
  93. obstructions.
  94.

  100. transceiver, which you can use to read his orders. By pressing the
  101. Hovercraft keys, you will use the key to move in the corresponding
  102. direction. Holding down the key will cause you to rotate the
  103. Hovercraft's engine thrusters.

  117. FAQ/Walkthrough

  119. ----
  120. Welcome to my FAQ for G-Man: Quest for a Cure. In this game you play as a
  121. mysterious government agent known only as the G-Man, and your objective is
  122. to figure out how to work with dolphins to develop a cure for post-traumatic
  123. stress disorder, a disease that has plagued the dolphins for millennia.
  124.
  125. I recommend starting with the tutorial as this is the only place you'll
  126. realize the basic controls for the game. After that, move on to the
  127. manual and read the WALKTHROUGH section to get a taste of what this game
  128. will be like. If you are already familiar with the game and want to learn
  129. some things you can only do in the manual, go start a new game and read
  130. the manual until you are good enough to play the game.
  131.
  132. After you finish the manual, move on to the game. In this game you can only
  133. use the X and Y buttons, and the control style is the same as the first
  134. game, although you can hold the control stick backwards. Your goal in this
  135. game is to avoid the toxic waste by catching the dolphins and use them to
  136. heal yourself. You can only heal yourself using the dolphin medicine and you
  137. can only do this by using the pellets you find laying around. You can only
  138. heal yourself using the dolphin medicine and not the dolphins themselves.
  139.
  140. Dolphin Medicine:
  141.
  142. After you use one dolphin medicine, you have to return to the doctor to give
  143. it to the dolphin you saw swim under water after the first treatment. The
  144. doctor will then fill you up with the medicine and give you a pass to enter
  145. the next level.
  146.
  147. Dolphin Food:
  148.
  149. In the first level, you will be given three dolphin food pelts. Two of them
  150. are green and one of them is red, this green food will heal you and the red
  151. one will heal your enemies. After you use one, you have to return to the
  152. doctor to get another one, and to cure you.
  153.
  154. Dolphin Food Pellet:
  155.
  156. In the level after you use one of the dolphin pelts, you will have to use
  157. two of the pelts to heal yourself. The one that cures you will be found
  158. in the next level.
  159.
  160. Dolphin Food Pellet:
  161.
  162. In the level after you use two dolphin pelts, you will have to use three
  163. of the pelts to heal yourself. The pellet that heals you is found in the
  164. next level.
  165.
  166. Dolphin Food Pellet:
  167.
  168. In the level after you use three of the dolphin pelts, you will have to use
  169. four of the pelts to heal yourself. The pellet that heals you is found in
  170. the next level.

  173. G-Man: Quest for a Cure
  174. FAQ/Walkthrough
  175. by UltimateGamingMind <ugm@defensegamingcenter.arpa>
  176. ----
  177. Welcome to my FAQ for G-Man: Quest for a Cure. In this game you play as a
  178. mysterious government agent known only as the G-Man, and your objective is
  179. to figure out how to work with dolphins to develop a cure for post-traumatic
  180. stress disorder, a disease that has plagued the dolphins for millennia.
  181. Of course, your quest will take you through a forest, through ancient
  182. shadows, and over telegraph poles.
  183.
  184. You'll also traverse two alternate dimensions, one that resembles hell
  185. and the other is called the Aquinas Substation. In order to get through the
  186. game you'll have to go through two different time periods, one in which
  187. the government has been destroyed, and one in which the G-Man is still
  188. rewarding the citizens of Earth with his knowledge.
  189.
  190. The controls for the game are simple. Press the Y button to jump. Press and
  191. press X to shoot. Press and hold the L and R buttons to crawl and crawl
  192. straight forward. Press the Y button to shoot a bullet when you are in
  193. darkness. Press the X button to use your gun. Press and hold the R button
  194. to drop a bullet when you are in darkness. Press and hold the R button
  195. to shut off the G-Man. Press and hold the Y button to shoot.
  196.
  197. Dolphins in this game are very docile. So, you can treat them however you
  198. want. You can throw them into a wall, lock them in a room, or throw them
  199. into spikes. You can even drop them in the ocean. Just jump and hold the
  200. L button to throw. They are docile until they are subdued by you,
  201. and then they are aggressive.
  202.
  203. The best way to take care of a dolphin is to shoot it in the dark water
  204. when it's in the middle of the water. It will be killed instantly. You
  205. can also shoot it in the middle of the ocean and drown it.
  206.
  207. The only other way to take care of a dolphin is to feed it. The best way
  208. to do this is to feed your dolphin the correct amount of food in the
  209. dolphin's stomach. Feeding a large amount of meat or meat-like
  210. dishes will result in a large stomach. Feeding a small amount of meat
  211. or a small amount of fish-like foods will result in a smaller one. Feed
  212. an entire stack of fish-like foods results in a small one.
  213.
  214. Also, in the Aquinas Substation you can build your own sub-station.
  215. This is done by drilling holes in the floor of the sub-station and using
  216. the drill to fill up the holes. Once the area is filled, drill the floor
  217. again and this time drill the other side of the station. This will give
  218. you access to the other side of the station. This method can be done
  219. both in a stand-alone mode and in the hand mode.
  220.
  221. To get through the door after killing a group of enemies, you can jump
  222. over the door. If your dolphin is in a door, he will say something, and
  223. then the game will assume that you just entered the room. This is not a
  224. very good way to play the game.
  225.
  226. You can also use the G-Man to teleport you to other areas. To do this,
  227. use the lift-off-a-hazard cheat code which gives you infinite fuel,
  228. and go to the area where the G-Man usually teleports you. Shoot the
  229. door, and the G-Man will teleport you to the area where the G-Man
  230. teleports you.
  231.
  232. The G-Man will also give you special supplies when you need them.
  233. For example, if he gives you a few boxes of shotgun shells after you
  234. kill a group of enemies, he will give you three shotgun shells.
  235.
  236. The G-Man's supplies will only replenish when you need to use them.
  237. When you are not using the supplies, you can swim back to the surface
  238. and collect them.
  239.
  240. The G-Man will also teleport you to the first level of the Aquinas
  241. Substation.
  242.

  244. G-Man: Quest for a Cure
  245. FAQ/Walkthrough
  246. by UltimateGamingMind <ugm@defensegamingcenter.arpa>
  247. ----
  248. Welcome to my FAQ for G-Man: Quest for a Cure. In this game you play as a
  249. mysterious government agent known only as the G-Man, and your objective is
  250. to figure out how to work with dolphins to develop a cure for post-traumatic
  251. stress disorder, a disease that has plagued the dolphins for millennia.
  252. Unfortunately, the government is woefully ignorant about the existence of
  253. dolphins, and if they were to know how to save them, they would be very
  254. vaguely helpful. So, to set the stage, here's what you're supposed to know.
  255.
  256. The Dolphins live in a large underwater city, called the Lagoon. When you get
  257. close to the city, the government will send a pair of scientists to bring you
  258. info on Lagoon III, and if you want to save the life of one of them, you
  259. must find the secret to the city and bring it back to the Lagoon before
  260. the government sends more of their secret-knowledge to the scientists.
  261.
  262. To find the Lagoon I must go to the first city I pass by in the game,
  263. Pleasure Land, and then look for the Lagoon. If you can find it, then the
  264. Lagoon is right beside it. If you can't find it, then it's in the most
  265. inaccessible part of the game, and thus, I will tell you where to find it.
  266.
  267. The first thing you must do is find the secret cave. It's to the left of
  268. the entrance to the first city. There is a cave entrance to this cave, and
  269. it's blocked by a bunch of boxes. To get past the boxes, you must use your
  270. bazooka, a weapon only found in the first two levels of the game. There are
  271. also a few enemies that you will encounter, but nothing you can't avoid.
  272.
  273. [the below examples use a slightly different writing prompt (different title/additional sentence, ending in the word "rest")]

  311. After many years, Dr. Pettrovich (the G-Man) finally gave him a cure for the
  312. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, allowing him to finally move on from these
  313. terrible illnesses. Over time, Dr. Pettrovich began to develop other
  314. complications, and over time, the symptoms increased. He began to use a
  315. telepathic link to manipulate the dolphins. He began using the dolphins to
  316. experiment with the various Post Traumatic Stress Disorder symptoms. Eventually,
  317. he began to have the ability to control time. He began sending letters to
  318. the lab workers, informing them of his plans (sometimes involving
  319. destroying the entire facility).
  320.
  321. Eventually, he received a telephone call from Peggy, a scientist that was
  322. experimenting on a new method of time travel. Dr. Pettrovich found her, and
  323. interrogated her. He was able to hypnotize her, and then force her to use
  324. the teleporter that Pettrovich had made. She was able to escape from Dr.
  325. Pettrovich's grasp, and escaped to the moon, where she set off a massive

  327. was never heard from again...

  330. G-Man's Dolphin PTSD Cure Quest
  331. FAQ/Walkthrough
  332. by UltimateGamingMind <ugm@defensegamingcenter.arpa>
  333. ----
  334. Welcome to my FAQ for G-Man: Quest for a Cure. In this game you play as a
  335. mysterious government agent known only as the G-Man, and your objective is
  336. to figure out how to work with dolphins to develop a cure for post-traumatic
  337. stress disorder, a disease that has plagued the dolphins for millennia. Only
  338. when the last dolphin -- and human -- has been cured of PTSD will the Earth be
  339. free, and only then can the G-Man rest.
  340.
  341. Only one dolphin at a time has been cured so far. But the mysterious G-Man is
  342. ready, as the last of the four, the scientist, has been recovered from his
  343. alien spaceship. The man inside the spaceship is a government spy who wishes to
  344. talk to the G-Man. However, the scientist has other plans. He has hidden a
  345. bomb in one of the many gold containers in the ship. The bomb is to be planted on
  346. one of the government leaders when the meeting is over. And one-and-a-half years
  347. later, the bomb goes off.
  348.
  349. The G-Man has no choice now but to work with the scientists and heal all of his
  350. friends. He's a brilliant man, a genius. He's an amalgamation of many different
  351. experts in the field of Xenology, Geology, and Physics. But his greatest
  352. skill is his ability to sense people. And that sense of sense of sense of
  353. knowing that he has been wrong about everything, including the past.
  354.
  355. This is the main part of the FAQ. The other parts will be added as I think of
  356. them. Thank you for reading.
  357.
  358. [finally, I reprompted it with the original "g-man ptsd dolphin cure" text that it made up itself]
  359.
  360. ====================
  361. What is the G-Man's name? It's clear from the intro that he's a
  362. foundation employee, a government employee.
  363.
  364. The G-Man also tells you that he's working on a cure for post-
  365. traumatic stress disorder, but he hasn't quite figured out how to work
  366. with a dolphin yet.
  367.
  368. There is no real action to be taken, just an intro. You have to
  369. find out about the dolphin's cure from the G-Man, and then go find
  370. a way to get it. Talk to the dolphin repeatedly, learn about it,
  371. and then get the dolphin to follow you to the edge of the water and
  372. talk to him.
  373.
  374. The dolphin will follow you to the edge of the water, but it needs
  375. to be trained. He'll follow you and teach you to swim. When he's
  376. satisfied with your skill, he'll tell you to get him to the surface
  377. and take him to the lab.

  382.
  383. When you reach the surface, the dolphin will follow you and let you go
  384. left. Swim over to the left side of the room and climb up the ladder
  385. here. At the top, go straight ahead and climb down the next ladder.
  386. When you're over the ledge that's across the room, talk to the
  387. scientist, and he'll give you a bunch of equations to work with.
  388. Continue down the hall, and you'll encounter a lot more of the
  389. aliens. The last room has a bunch of scientists and a scientist
  390. holding the captive aloft. Talk to the scientist to get him to open
  391. the portal for you.

  396.
  397. Walk straight forward and take a left, going through the small door.
  398. In this room is a scientist holding a machine gun, and a bunch of
  399. aliens holding babies. Talk to the scientist to get him to follow you,
  400. then talk to the first group of aliens. He'll tell you to leave them
  401. alone, and he'll give you a buffron charge.
  402.
  403. Go back the way you came, and go through the doorway. You'll be
  404. approached by two aliens, and the mother is pregnant. Talk to her, and
  405. she'll tell you to find the baby for her. So go back the way you came,
  406. through the first doorway, then through the next one. You'll be
  407. approached by a scientist, who'll tell you to leave him be. Go back to
  408. the room with the two pregnant women, and talk to the
  409. scientist holding the machine gun. He'll tell you to leave him be,
  410. and he'll give you a buffron charge.
  411.
  412. Head back out the way you came in, and go left through the small doorway.
  413. Go through the doorway across from where you entered, and you'll see a
  414. downstairs hatch in the floor. Go down the stairs. In the next room,
  415. you'll be surrounded by a bunch of baby aliens.
  416.
  417. ====================
  418. What is the G-Man's name? It's clear from the intro that he's a
  419. foundation employee, a government employee.
  420.
  421. The G-Man also tells you that he's working on a cure for post-
  422. traumatic stress disorder, but he hasn't quite figured out how to work

  425. There is no real action to be taken, just an intro. You have to
  426. find out about the dolphin's cure from the G-Man, and then go find
  427. a way to get it.
  428.
  429. The first thing you should do is go down the passage and find the
  430. vending machine. This is where the G-Man gets his strong chemical
  431. symbol. You can't miss it.
  432.
  433. Now go back to the passage with the tunnels, and go left. Go all the
  434. way down, and you'll find a hole in the floor. Go in it, and you'll
  435. find a big yellow sign that says 'Toll: 1'. The key is right there
  436. above the door. Use the key to open the door, then go in.
  437.
  438. You'll see a small set of steps on the right, leading up to a room
  439. with a dolphin. Go up to it and get the dolphin food. Then go back down
  440. and get the dolphin food again. Now go back down and get the dolphin
  441. food again. Now you should be up to two of the three food items. The
  442. other two items are in the dolphin cages.
  443.
  444. Now go back to the passage with the tunnels, and go right. Go all the
  445. way down, and you'll find a hole in the floor. Go in it, and you'll
  446. find a yellow sign that says 'Toll: 9'. The key is right there. Now
  447. you can go up to the second floor and get the key.
  448.
  449. Now go to the right, and you'll see a door. Go through it. Down
  450. here, get the key. Now go back to the passage with the tunnels, and
  451. go right. You'll see a door, go through it. Down here, get the key. Now
  452. go to the right of the yellow sign, and you'll see a big yellow sign
  453. that says 'Toll: 6'. The key is right there.
  454.
  455. Now go back to the room with the tunnels, and go through the other
  456. yellow sign. Go through the other yellow sign, and you'll find a
  457. room with a dolphin in it. He'll tell you about the key, and then
  458. give you the key to the dolphin cages.
  459.
  460. Go back to the room with the tunnels, and go through the passage
  461. that leads right to the key room. In here, use the key on the key
  462. pad, and you'll get the key to the dolphin cages.

  468. The key to getting the dolphin cages is the food. He'll give you some
  469. information about the dolphin cages, and then tell you to feed him
  470. the dolphin.

  490. ====================
  491. What is the G-Man's name? It's clear from the intro that he's a
  492. foundation employee, a government employee.
  493.
  494. The G-Man also tells you that he's working on a cure for post-
  495. traumatic stress disorder, but he hasn't quite figured out how to work
  496. with a dolphin yet.
  497.
  498. There is no real action to be taken, just an intro. You have to
  499. find out about the dolphin's cure from the G-Man, and then go find
  500. a way to get it.
  501.
  502. There are two doors in this area; the left one leads back into the
  503. library, and the right one leads to the underwater lab. Go into the
  504. underwater lab, and talk to the scientist in the yellow helmet.
  505. He'll tell you about the new advanced test subject, which is an
  506. additional type of drone, called an Autoad.
  507.
  508. Get out of the lab, and go to the right. If you look on your right,
  509. you'll see that the dolphin is slowly waking up. Go to the corner of the
  510. cave, and you'll see that the dolphin has a strange machine in his
  511. mouth, and it's about to blow. You have two options; either shoot the
  512. drone, or use the machine.
  513.
  514. I recommend shooting the drone, as it's much faster, and safer, with
  515. the possible exception of the one-hit kill. When you've killed it,
  516. the dolphin will open his mouth, allowing you to enter it.
  517.
  518. Now, go back to the lab, and you'll see that the machine is blowing up,
  519. but there's no way to stop it. Swim to the deck of the ship, and use
  520. the syringe to take the drone out of the machine.
  521.
  522. Now, go back to the room with the egg chamber, and use the syringe
  523. with the egg in the chamber. Once you've done that, the egg will break
  524. open. There's no need to use the syringe, as the drone will die
  525. any way you're ready.
  526.
  527. Go back to the room with the scientists, and use the syringe on
  528. the syringe-shaped object in the middle of the room. That's the
  529. contest dummy, and the last thing you have to do is use the syringe
  530. on him.
  531.
  532. He's like King Kong with a gun. Use your gun to shoot him a couple
  533. times to stop him from getting you with his gun.
  534.
  535. Go back to the room with the warm water room, and you'll notice that
  536. the dolphin's body is covered with a thick layer of plastic. A few
  537. times, he'll even get in your way.
  538.
  539. If he gets in your way, use your syringe on him. Use the syringe
  540. to make it between you and the dummy. When you do this, he'll
  541. expand his own mucus, and you'll end up with a big mouth.
  542.
  543. Once you've killed him, you'll get a key. Take the key to open up
  544. the safe, and then, you'll see a cutscene of a guard getting his
  545. four-hour haircut. He's not even a scientist!

  549. ====================
  550. Go back up the stairs and into the next room. This room has the dolphin
  551. in it. You can either jump on the dolphin and press B repeatedly when
  552. you're close to the dolphin, or you can wait for the dolphin to wake up
  553. and press B. Press B when the dolphin's eyes flash red and the dolphin
  554. runs to you.
  555.
  556. When the dolphin's awake, you have to lead him to the passage. The passage
  557. is to the right of the room where you fought the first guard, but there's
  558. a guard that comes out of it at the end. Lead the dolphin to the
  559. passage, and a cut-scene begins.

  566. 1. Make sure your dolphin has oxygen. If it doesn't, your dolphin will
  567. stun or get dizzy. This is boring and sucks when it happens.

  570. Continue to the room with the sign that says "Mos Defile". [this is mos def's full name -ed]
