  1. Misc
  2. --
  3. - POSTURE. Look ahead, that is where you are going
  4.
  5. Triangle (legs)
  6. --
  7. - Lift your head off the ground when doing a triangle. By doing this, you put their entire weight on their neck. Head on ground allows them to pull you up by your hips, like dragging a sack of potatoes
  8. - Pull down on the head. If they pull away/have good posture, attack their arm for an arm bar. This will make them lean forward again, at which time you should pull down on their head...and so on
  9. - If you don't have your foot under your other leg hamstring (ie: you have a shitty diamond lock) you can still try to squeeze the triangle and pull down the head, remember that the arm bar is always there if you can't get it
  10. - Remember to keep your head off the ground...
  11.
  12. Defense:
  13. - POSTURE until they burn out
  14. - Frame on hips
  15.
  16. Arm bar
  17. --
  18. From bottom full guard:
  19. - To attack their right arm, use your right hand to get a cross collar grip and trap their right arm with your left hand (hold their elbow or wrist). Slide your left leg up the side of their body and use your leg to further trap their right arm, placing your heel on their hip. Slide your right leg up *vertically first* into their armpit, then use your left leg to base and rotate your hips such that you can swing your right heel towards the back of their head to make a hook across their upper back/shoulders. Put your left leg across their face and raise your hips
  20.
  21. Back Control
  22. --
  23. - Engage your hips when you're on bottom and have someone's back! If they manage to flatten your leg, hip escape back into them to get them back up on top of you
  24. - When they are protecting their neck:
  25. - Grab each wrist and pull outwards. Attack the weaker arm by pushing them downwards with your feet on their hip(s)
  26. - Try to swim into the V of their arm, then put your hand into the crook of your knee. If you can do this with both hands, great. Now it is a race to see who can get back to their neck first, and your hands are on top
  27. - Once you have control of an arm or lapel, put your feet on their hips and push them downwards. Try to put them at an angle which keeps their arm closest to you, or an angle which makes the lapel choke tighter
  28.
  29. Full Guard
  30. --
  31. - While in bottom full guard, cross your ankles lower (at their butt/mid hips), get your hip into theirs, and engage your hips. This will make it nearly impossible for them to get up
  32.
  33. Crucifix
  34. --
  35. - If you're getting crucifixed, try to slide down and get the back of your head to touch the ground. Do a backwards roll and end up on top
  36. - If you're getting crucifixed and your left arm is trapped, try to get your head towards the ground while walking your legs to the right while you pull your left arm out
  37.
  38. North South
  39. --
  40. - While on bottom in north south, grab their belt and scoot in the direction of your feet until your arms are locked out on their waist. From there, swing your legs left and/or right in a clock motion to get to the side of the opponent.
  41. - Alternately once your arms are locked out, walk your legs to one side (the side opposite of the opponents head assuming they are slightly off-center) and then do a backwards roll to end up on their back
  42.
  43. Knee on belly
  44. --
  45. - If you're getting knee on belly'd and they have a collar and belt grip and are pulling up to create a ton of pressure, frame your elbow on their inside(knee-on-belly) knee and grab their outside knee. Hip escape towards them while pushing their outside knee up and over you. Follow through with the sweep
  46. -
  47.
  48. Head lock / guillotine
  49. --
  50. - Slice your hand inwards in a north-south vertical fashion rather than from the sides. This is much harder to protect
  51. - Use your right hand to slice inwards and grab their lapel. Then, lean your left shoulder into them in order to get your own lapels close to their neck. Reach in and transfer your choking hand lapel to your own lapel. Once this is done, look up to finish the choke.
  52. - Once locked in, rather than trying to stretch the person out like you're giving them a neck re-alignment, focus on brining your knees higher while crunching inwards and twisting your body towards your choking arm. This may feel strange as you are in effect loosening the noose created by grabbing your lapel, but the choke is from your arm and compressing their neck
  53.
  54. Arm-in Defense:
  55. - Use one hand to pull down on the wrist that is applying the choke, and reach down towards your feet with your underhooked arm. Tripod and put a ton of pressure on their hands/solar plexus underneath your chest until they let go of the guillotine
  56. - Take your arm-in trapped arm and bring it across their stomach to the choking side. Use your other hand to pull your arm out if necessary. This is a bit more dangerous as it gives them your back, but it's better than being choked and you may be able to scramble out
  57.
  58. Mount Attacks
  59. --
  60. - To drill mount to armbar, practice posting both hands on their chest and jumping up to your feet, then up to your feet at 45 degrees, then finally jumping up and swinging to 90 degrees with your leg over their head
  61. - Your partner can put their arm across the width of their chest such that you can post on their arm rather than on their chest
  62. - Look for their elbow to be raised off the ground. Scoop it up with your knee as you rotate, bringing your knee to the top of their head. Lean forwards, bringing up the trapped arm, and sit on their ribs. Lean enough that you can get your leg around and over their face, then squeeze your thighs on the trapped arm and sit back if you need to.
  63.
  64. Cross collar:
  65. - Get a good cross collar grip. Open their lapel with one hand and go palm up with your fist to the ground beside their neck to get your grip. With this grip held, drive your elbow into their chest for more control - make it hard for them to breath
  66. - Lean away from your cross collar grip for stability. When the opponent is done struggling, make a wide arcing motion with your head and free hand across the mat to the other side (keeping your head low). Use the elbow of your free hand to cut across their face/jaw/neck and grab the choke
  67. - Keep an eye on their elbows. If they raise one to defend the choke, scoop the elbow with your knee and transition to an arm bar
