- 'Sup, doods!
- I am spending a lot of time nowadays trimming clips for YouTube and TikTok. Let me know if you are finding those in your feeds. I can see my X/Twitter views on all of my posts nearly triple since I started making clips so those will probably stay. I'm not sure if TikTok is doing me any good, however. Even on a Business account, you cannot schedule posts more than 10 days out. Considering I currently have clips scheduled on X and YouTube Shorts through July 2, I have to tend to the TikTok a lot more frequently. If doing that was not worth my time, I could put more time into the stream improvements I want to make. For some reason, I feel a need to improve the stream before I resume work on the tutorial series scripts. Once the scripts are done and footage filmed, I want to ramp up the streaming schedule to take advantage of whatever surge of viewership I can get from it. I will want the stream to be where I want it by that point. I just need time for it.
- Speaking of time, I have the week of July 4 off from my day job and that frees up a lot of free time to work on stuff while SGDQ is going on. It doesn't make sense for me to stream during SGDQ...
- ...unless you feel like watching it along with me, dood?
- I've done a little bit of a lot when it comes to the GDQs. In 2015, I performed a PPL run, had a tech shift helping set up runners between games, had a shift on the donation station helping process donation comments to be read by the host, and even played host to a couple of games, those being Lovely Planet and Digimon World. Having been to three GDQs in person, I have a tiny amount of knowledge of the backend of running the GDQs, which has certainly changed a lot since they moved online. I have not participated in any of them since and will likely never be able to have the time to participate so long as my employer will not grant me any time off more than two months in advance and the game submissions are conducted more than three months in advance. All that said, I can give some insight to a few of the speedruns that I know about and, as someone who has given commentary to more than a few runs myself, judge how well the commentary communicates how the game works and how the speedrun plays it.
- If that seems like something you would want to see, I have polls up on X and YouTube asking the question, though I have a feeling I know how they will go.
- Oh yeah, doods, I did get a personal best in Tetris Attack, didn't I? My Easy – V-Hard leaderboard time is now THREE runs out of date. I should get to work on editing those, shouldn't I?
- In other news, I did finally beat the Witch's first episode in Dicey Dungeons, dood. I had to keep my options open and not go full offense. Relying on odd or even dice rolls for some attacks is also not good when you have to randomly roll to put them in your spellbook in the first place. Blizzard/Inferno is good. Magic Missile/Ice Shard, not so much. I expect to put in a lot more sleepless nights into this game before I put it down. I hear that it's not too deep of a game, unfortunately.
- Today's (permanent) extra streaming goals:
- Goal #5b: finalize the tournament layout once and for all in a way that I can adapt for the Pokemon Puzzle League tournaments. This will be much easier to focus on after the monthly Tetris Attack tournament this weekend.
- Goal #6a: clean up my own stream layout. Most of the framework necessary for a semi-proper stream is done now thanks to streaming the process, though I'm not currently motivated to stream any other part of it at the moment. Next major objective is to make transitions and alerts. This will be a lot easier to work on in July during SGDQ, which I have another week off from my day job for.
- Goal #6b: catch up on video archives that I have yet to upload since I restarted streaming.
- Goal #7: script and record footage for my Puzzle League tutorial series. I have some scripts left to touch up before feeling comfortable with moving on to recording gameplay. Then I will need to record my talking points and edit it all together. Getting back to this will be easier once the workflow for the monthly tournaments is finalized.
- Goal #8: release the Puzzle League tutorial series YouTube shorts once a day until they're all done. I really do think I need to time the release of the series with a ramping up of my streaming schedule so that I can take advantage of whatever there is to gain from releasing the shorts.
- This week's schedule:
- Wednesday & 8pm-10pm ET – Wild Cards Wednesday: Bumpty Open Tune Up Edition, Doods!
- Friday @ 9pm-1am ET – Friday Night Salt Mines: Final Preparations for the Bumpty Open Edition, Doods!
- I will be broadcasting matches on Saturday and Sunday at PuzzleSpeedrun. Go check them out, dood!
- That’s my life story for the week. Until next time, everyone, be decent to each other. Later, doods!
