43. Survivors of a nuclear attack are grouped together for days in the basement of their apartment building, where fear and dwindling supplies wear away at their dynamic.
 44. Nuclear explosions force the residents of a New York apartment block to run from the building. However, the explosions force them into a basement. Eight residents are holed up in the building's bomb shelter. They must acclimatise to each other in difficult, cramped conditions.
 45. A lot of movies did the whole "survivors stuck together try to survive each other", but not quite as vividly as The Divide. And also, not as disturbing. A simple premise - a few people escape a nuclear blast and find themselves stuck in a shelter, in the basement of a building.

Tension soon builds up and conflicts arise. As the movie progresses, the characters slowly descend into madness, whether because of the situation or the fact that they got irradiated. The actors' performance is amazing, especially of those who start losing it. You can feel yourself growing more and more afraid of them, just as the characters in the movie, a feat few other films accomplish so brilliantly.

There were some things not quite fully thought out, though. At some point, the movie introduces additional villains, in the form of soldiers in hazmat suits, but in my opinion they were unneeded. They were mainly there to give an excuse for the death/disappearance of a character and a door closed forever, but they just add confusion and those things could have been achieved in other ways. Especially since they remain unexplained in the end.

A word of caution - the movie is BRUTAL. I've seen slasher flicks with less violence, so be prepared going in.
 46. I thought i was losing it reading all those positive reviews of this movie.Generally speaking i use IMDb's ratings as a guide to whether i watch a movie or not, especially if its been rated, like this one, by over 500 people until i read Alex's review which i wholehearted agree with. Utter dross is what i think, ridiculously unexplained implausible situations and reactions and i'm sorry but the acting and dialogue were very poor. That said i did watch it all(mouth agape at the dreadfulness of it all) which is not always the case. All involved should be thoroughly embarrassed at there participation. 6.5/10 why people why.No redeeming features at all.
 47. It's doom that we're meant to feel here. And repulsion. I hate to say, but I shrugged.
 48. There are two versions of The Divide. Next to the MPAA-rated "R" version (for disturbing strong violence and sexuality, and for pervasive language) there's also an unrated cut that's featured on the US DVD and Blu-ray. Countries like Germany or the UK only got the R-Rated. a5c7b9f00b
