  1. >You step out onto your front porch holding two cups of tea.
  2. >Setting them down on the small table, you sit down on one of the wooden chairs.
  3. >You let out a content sigh as you look out across the garden in front of you.
  4. >Sunlight coats the entire grass patch, bringing out the best of the colourful flowers.
  5. >A thick, dark green hedge surrounds the entire garden with the exception of a small parting, making way for a pathway that leads to the porch.
  6. >Sound rings out as the gentle breeze plays with a set of wind chimes that hang from the porch light.
  7. >Your old eyes come across a familiar shape, hunched over next to the hedge.
  8. >Your wife is tending to her flowers as per daily routine.
  9. >You sip from your cup as you watch her work away.
  10. >The sunlight shines off of her brilliant silver hair.
  11. >Finally she stands and turns towards the porch, you smile as she waves to you.
  12. >She ambles towards you as fast as her crooked legs can carry her.
  13. >Once she steps onto the porch, she throws her dirty gloves onto the table and sits on the chair next to you, sighing.
  14. >"Hello, dear."
  15. "Morning honey."
  16. >"Your eyes meet hers for a brief moment before she leans forward.
  17. >Her wrinkled hand cups your face as she leans in and kisses you gently."
  18. >"Remember the kids are coming to visit today."
  19. "I know, they should be here soon."
  20. >"Gives us some time to relax then."
  21. >Your old wife sits back in her chair and drinks her tea.
  22. >You reach across with your free hand and take hers. Holding it tightly.
  23. >She smiles in between slugs of tea.
  24. >Your eyes fixate on a small, silver ring on her finger. Adorned with the most beautiful gem.
  25. >It's been so many decades since that day.
  26. >But you remember it like it was yesterday.
  27. >Well, most of it. Some of it.
  28. >Time hasn't exactly been kind to your memory.
  29.
  30. >Your eyes shift to your wife's face.
  31. >She's watching the garden before her, admiring her handiwork.
  32. >Her face, though wrinkled through the years, is still as beautiful as it was back then.
  33. >Suddenly, without warning. She speaks.
  34. >"I love you. Anon."
  35. >It catches you off guard.
  36. "I-I love you too."
  37. >She chuckles a little at your surprise.
  38.
  39. >Some time passes. The two of you sitting in a content silence, still holding hands.
  40. >A car pulls up and stops just beyond your garden.
  41. >"Well, they're here."
  42. "That's our peace over then. Damn."
  43. >"Oh Anon, they're not THAT bad."
  44. "I know, I know. I'm kidding."
  45. >The two of you stand as the car door opens.
  46. >From it spring two energetic children, around five or six.
  47. >Followed by two adults.
  48. >"Grandma! Grandpa!"
  49. >The kids shout as they run into the garden and launch onto the two of you. Taking turns hugging you.
  50. >Your own son follows, along with his wife.
  51. >You greet them, your own wife quickly ushers the four inside.
  52. >However, you stop for a moment. Looking at the doorway to your home.
  53. >It's been so many years since the two of you got married.
  54. >So many memories shared between you.
  55. >Many forgotten ones too.
  56. >Time may have weathered the two of you.
  57. >But it hasn't touched the love you've built over the years gone by.
  58. >The love that will continue to grow for years to come.
  59. >"Anon?"
  60. "Yeah, I'm coming."
  61. >You grab your walking stick from it's place by the chair and enter your home.
