- Peter Parker (Garfield) is an outcast high schooler who was abandoned by his parents as a boy, leaving him to be raised by his Uncle Ben (Sheen) and Aunt May (Field). Like most teenagers, Peter is trying to figure out who he is and how he got to be the person he is today. Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. As Peter discovers a mysterious briefcase that belonged to his father, he begins a quest to understand his parents' disappearance - leading him directly to Oscorp and the lab of Dr. Curt Connors (Ifans), his father's former partner. As Spider-Man is set on a collision course with Connors' alter-ego, The Lizard, Peter will make life-altering choices to use his powers and shape his destiny to become a hero.
- I think firstly it's my duty to say that I haven't seen Sam Raimi's Spidey trilogy fully and completely. As a matter of fact the only film I have seen from that trilogy is about a third of the first one when it was broadcast on ITV2 some 8 or so years ago. As you can probably gather, if an 8 year old me had no interest in the series, then I do have doubts about its credentials. However; I'm not one to hold grudges against films, and I'm sure I'll revisit the series a few years down the line. What I'm trying to say to you is I popped my cherry (metaphorically I assure you, I'm a 16 year old male,) on the Spidey franchise with Marc Webb's 'The Amazing-Spider Man.' Overall, I found the film enjoyable and entertaining, but did have problems that kept it reaching the same high mark for superhero films that 'The Avengers', also out this year, has set.<br/><br/>Undoubtedly the best thing about this film is the performances from the two leads in the film, Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker / Spider-Man) and Emma Stone (Gwen Stacey). It's fair to say that Garfield's performance is not close to surpassing his incredible role as Eduardo in 'The Social Network', but that is certainly not a criticism. His performance is well-rounded, believable, and his ability to play adolescent so perfectly is certainly one of the best in the business right now. Similarly, Emma Stone is again very believable and the pair has a certain dynamic, an on screen connection, which is incredibly satisfying for the audience to watch as the narrative progresses.<br/><br/>The films plot at times does seem to be somewhat formulaic, but the very nature of the Spidey franchise means that some conventions must be followed: i.e. fans would be outraged if the scene in which Peter Parker gains his special abilities via a spider bite isn't shown, or if Peter doesn't have a love interest throughout the film. Despite these conventions, it's ultimately the films plot that is its greatest downfall: it's littered with unanswered and unmentioned plot strings. For instance, (SPOILER) Peter's chase for his uncle's killer is completely left unanswered mid-way through the film, and a shot is shown of the NYPD officers (SPOILER) being covered in slime created by 'The Lizard' which turns people into 'Lizard People.' There is simply one shot of the officers being covered in this slime, and what follows isn't developed whatsoever. Damn, they even have the guts to show the officers transforming back into humans after (SPOILER) Spidery sprays an antidote across the city. Not only does the plot make the film not cohesive and often bewildering for the audience, it undoes the work by Garfield and Stone of making the film so believable for the audience.<br/><br/>The film is visually acceptable. The ending set piece is satisfactory visually, and the audience get just the right amount of POV web-swinging shots to leave them satisfied and not left with motion sickness. The effects on the villain of the film (The Lizard) are often quite plain and standard, but never become a big issue for the film. What does however; is the character himself. The villain, played by Rhys Ifans is simply not interesting and well developed as he should be to become genuine threat to Spider-Man. All we have to look at in comparison is 'The Joker' and 'Bane' in Christopher Nolan's 'Dark Knight' trilogy to see how lacking this villain really is. This comparison may be unjustified, but that's the nature of what superhero films are becoming nowadays - a well respected genre which is starting to release outstanding films on a yearly basis, and although 'The Amazing-Spider Man' does have many positives, Spidey doesn't quite live up to the standard of other superhero films over the past decade.<br/><br/>3/5.
- I like this movie very much. It was one of the best Marvel movie of 2012. This movie is for the person who like Action, Adventure and Fantancy. The special effect on the movie was very nice. It was the remake of older version of spider man with few changes. It has a wonderful graphics. The acting of all the actor of this movie was great. The story was also very nice. The sets was also very nice.this movie is not a waste of time and money. you will enjoy this movie very much. This is great movie from the Marvel. It is also a family type film. This movie can be seen by your whole family.So have a try and watch this movie. Every thing on this movie was perfect, from action to story. i liked the animation of this movie the most.

It had been stated that there would be four movies, with the planned release dates being 2 May 2014 for <a href="/title/tt1872181/">The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)</a>, 10 June 2016 for the third movie, and 4 May 2018 for the fourth. However, as far as the latter two are concerned, this did not pan out (perhaps to unsatisfactory performance or reception of the second movie) and instead the rights/license to the pertinent movie franchise were sold to Sony Pictures who decided to pursue the third reboot of the Spider-Man cinematic franchise. Mary Jane is not the love interest (or one of them) in this film adaption of Spider-Man. Instead the love interest is Gwen Stacy. Gwen was an earlier love interest for Peter Parker, after his failed attempt at a romantic relationship with J. Jonah Jameson's secretary, Betty Brant, and before Mary Jane in the original comics. Rhys Ifans told Ain't It Cool News that the man was not Norman Osborn (Green Goblin), but is a representative from Oscorp and someone the fans are familiar with. The man was later revealed to be Gustav Friers, aka the Gentlemen, who is known to have formed the Sinister Six in the comics. Stan Lee is seen in the library at Peter's high school as The Lizard and Spider-Man are fighting behind him while he is oblivious to the action because he's wearing headphones with the volume turned up. In the comic books, Peter's spider powers he got from the spider bite do not include any ability to shoot webbing like in the earlier series made by Sam Raimi. Instead, Peter invented a special spider web-like adhesive and the wrist guns to fire it which are referred as his web-shooters. That is where the imagery of Spider-Man typically folding his third and middle fingers into his palms with the other fingers are extended comes from; he is pressing down on a trigger extending to the palm of his hand with a double tap which allows him to form a fist without causing an accidental firing. The reason you don't see these in most versions most of the time is that the web-shooters are completely hidden under the costume with only the nozzle being visible. Otherwise, they are fully visible when Spider-Man removes his gloves to deal with technical difficulties with them or to reload. Likewise, Spider-Man in the comics also wears a utility belt which is also completely hidden under his costume. It carries additional web cartridges for reloads, little electronic tracking devices called spider-tracers, his camera, and a special flashlight that projects a light pattern resembling his mask. This element of the character has been the norm for decades in the comics and most of its various other media adaptations. The idea of Peter being able to shoot webbing from his own body (the media referred to this ability as being "biological web shooters") was first developed in a draft of the first Spider-Man movie script by James Cameron; this idea was later used by Sam Raimi in his films because he felt it would make for more sense than a high school student creating a wonder adhesive, despite the fact that Peter is known for his gift of knowledge in science. This film takes the opposite track to show how Peter was a special kid long before he was bitten by the spider in being able to invent such devices. There's a short scene in this film that shows Peter discovering a secret lab at Oscorp where spider webs are being studied for some unnamed research. No. It is of its own fictional reality; e.g., separate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (by Marvel Studios), separate from the X-Men cinema (by 20th Century Fox), separate from a number of other movie series/franchises adapted from Marvel Comics titles or based upon characters thereof. a5c7b9f00b
