- [16:17] <Kezlow> I continue looking for a new set of clothes.
- [16:17] <Kezlow> Pajamas aren't really my style.
- [16:17] <Mathmatt878> You find a couple pieces of normal clothing, all of them coloured white, rather than the bright gold of your pyjamas.
- [16:18] <Mathmatt878> The vendor smiles as you approach, eager to sell you his wares.
- [16:18] <Kezlow> "hello."
- [16:18] <Kezlow> "do you have anything in not-white?"
- [16:18] <Mathmatt878> The Prospitian thinks for a moment, and tells you to wait one moment while he checks in the back.
- [16:19] <Mathmatt878> "Checking in the back", in this case, refers to him just turning around.
- [16:19] <Kezlow> "see anything?"
- [16:19] <Mathmatt878> He turns back and says that he has exactly twelve sets of clothes that are not white.
- [16:19] <Mathmatt878> One of them is kind of an eggshell, but still, not technically white.
- [16:20] <Kezlow> "may i see the other eleven?"
- [16:20] <Mathmatt878> He nods, and wheels out a rack of white clothing.
- [16:21] <Kezlow> "unrelated question, but do you know where i can buy some paint?"
- [16:21] <Mathmatt878> You notice that there are twelve different designs of clothing, but every single one of them is still white.
- [16:22] <Mathmatt878> He nods, and points to a vendor down elsewhere in the market, who appears to be painting a portrait.
- [16:22] <Kezlow> I sigh.
- [16:22] <Kezlow> "how much for the eggshell?"
- [16:22] <Mathmatt878> He tells you that these are all white.
- [16:23] <Mathmatt878> But, if you choose a layout, he can order you some clothes of the twelve different colours.
- [16:23] <Kezlow> "and what might they be?"
- [16:23] <Mathmatt878> He asks if you mean the layout, or the colours?
- [16:24] <Kezlow> "layout first."
- [16:24] <Mathmatt878> He points to the rack beside him, telling you to choose one you like.
- [16:25] <Kezlow> I pick the one that looks the most threatening.
- [16:34] <Mathmatt878> I'm using this thing for reference: http://orig15.deviantart.net/c4d4/f/2013/113/e/b/homestuck_classpect_chart_updated_by_josiahr94-d5pb6fw.png
- [16:36] <Kezlow> the Maid outfit looks pretty regal
- [16:36] <Kezlow> fit for a dumpking
- [16:36] <Mathmatt878> Maid outfit it is
- [16:37] <Mathmatt878> The shopkeeper asks for your colour preference between blue, orange/yellow, red, black, beige, dark blue, pink, bright green, eggshell, dark green, brownish red, purple
- [16:38] <Kezlow> Brownish Red.
- [16:38] <Mathmatt878> The shopkeeper nods, and writes down your order.
- [16:38] <Mathmatt878> He asks you to return in two or three days, and it will be ready for him.
- [16:38] <Kezlow> I thank him and head off towards the library.
- [16:39] <Mathmatt878> After a bit of walking and following the map, you do find yourself at a library.
- [16:39] <Kezlow> I marvel at the books before seeking out a librarian.
- [16:40] <Mathmatt878> There appears to be a white creature behind a desk who greets you as you approach.
- [16:40] <Kezlow> "hello. do you think you could tell me anything useful i might need to know about this land? it's my first time visiting, and i'd rather not dally."
- [16:41] <Mathmatt878> The librarian says it's a pleasure to meet a hero as they're just waking up, and tells you that this land is called Prospit.
- [16:41] <Kezlow> "this i know."
- [16:41] <Kezlow> "could you go into detail about the local culture?"
- [16:41] <Mathmatt878> There are a variety of stores and buildings to visit on the moon, and if you head to the main planet, you can find the queen's castle.
- [16:42] <Kezlow> "ah, so this is just a moon."
- [16:42] <Mathmatt878> The librarian nods.
- [16:42] <Kezlow> "is the queen a fair ruler?"
- [16:42] <Mathmatt878> The librarian nods enthusiastically.
- [16:42] <Kezlow> I make a note of that.
- [16:42] <Kezlow> "do you think i could get in contact with her? i would like to meet her."
- [16:43] <Mathmatt878> The librarian says if you head to the planet, she'd be happy to speak with you.
- [16:43] <Kezlow> "good to know."
- [16:43] <Kezlow> "i've heard of a war going on. could you tell me about that?"
- [16:43] <Mathmatt878> The librarian nods solemnly.
- [16:43] <Mathmatt878> She tells you that Prospit has been at war with the other dream moon, Derse, since the beginning of time.
- [16:44] <Kezlow> "what do you hope to achieve from this war?"
- [16:44] <Kezlow> "is it a land dispute?"
- [16:44] <Mathmatt878> She shrugs.
- [16:45] <Mathmatt878> She tells you it is simply as things have always been.
- [16:45] <Kezlow> "what would happen if one side were to win?"
- [16:45] <Mathmatt878> A quick flash of horror shows itself on the librarian's face. She gulps, and says that it would be best not to think about that.
- [16:46] <Kezlow> I hesitate for a moment before asking the next question.
- [16:46] <Kezlow> "do you remain in this war for economic purposes?"
- [16:46] <Mathmatt878> She shakes her head, and tells you that the economy is fine.
- [16:46] <Kezlow> "because of the war?"
- [16:47] <Mathmatt878> She is unsure.
- [16:47] <Kezlow> I nod.
- [16:47] <Kezlow> I apologize for any grief I've caused, and change the subject.
- [16:47] <Kezlow> I ask how I would go about making money here.
- [16:48] <Mathmatt878> She says that some businesses may be willing to hire, but there aren't too many of those. Most people run a personal shop, but they might be looking for assistance if you ask around.
- [16:49] <Kezlow> I make a note of that as well.
- [16:49] <Kezlow> I ask her what people eat on Prospit.
- [16:50] <Mathmatt878> She says that's an odd question.
- [16:50] <Kezlow> I shrug.
- [16:50] <Kezlow> "just curious."
- [16:50] <Kezlow> "i'm entirely unfamiliar with the culture."
- [16:51] <Mathmatt878> She describes the food that they eat on Prospit, mostly fruits and vegetables grown in gardens, but there are a large amount of butchers on the planet that serve high end meat.
- [16:51] <Kezlow> "what sort of meat?"
- [16:51] <Mathmatt878> She thinks for a minute, and rattles off a list of various meats, none of which you have heard of before.
- [16:51] <Kezlow> "i...
- [16:51] <Kezlow> see."
- [16:52] <Kezlow> I ask her what she likes to do for fun, besides read.
- [16:52] <Mathmatt878> As an addendum, she also notes steak. Steak is also popular.
- [16:53] <Mathmatt878> She smiles as you ask this question, she says that she loves children. She loves to watch them play, and often takes her child to the park where they play together.
- [16:53] <Kezlow> I ask how old her child is.
- [16:54] <Mathmatt878> She says about three sweeps.
- [16:55] <Kezlow> "cute."
- [16:55] <Kezlow> I ask her what kind of books she likes to read, and if she has any recommendations.
- [16:56] <Mathmatt878> She says that she loves mystery books. And hands you a book about a detective trying to find a lost artifact in a desert temple. The title is incredibly short, however.
- [16:57] <Mathmatt878> Like, only two words!
- [16:57] <Mathmatt878> What the heck is this?
- [16:57] <Kezlow> I refrain from making a comment about the title.
- [16:57] <Kezlow> Must be one of those indie books.
- [16:58] <Kezlow> I thank her, and ask if she has any books with maps in them.
- [16:58] <Kezlow> I need a map of the planet for reasons.
- [16:58] <Mathmatt878> She shakes her head, and says you would have better luck at the market.
- [16:58] <Kezlow> I curse in my head.
- [16:58] <Kezlow> So much for the easy way out.
- [16:59] <Mathmatt878> She also says you could try going to the planet and seeing if they have any maps there.
- [16:59] <Kezlow> I tell her I might try that.
- [16:59] <Kezlow> I ask her if she has any books on electromagnetism.
- [16:59] <Mathmatt878> She thinks for a second, and goes to check one of the shelves.
- [16:59] <Mathmatt878> She returns a few minutes later, and says that someone must have rented it.
- [17:00] <Kezlow> I mentally curse once again.
- [17:00] <Kezlow> I ask her when the expected return date is.
- [17:01] <Mathmatt878> She shrugs. The library is very slack with return dates, as it's relatively unpopular. Most books return within a few weeks, sometimes even with a few days. However, they also could spend almost a month with the book before returning it.
- [17:01] <Kezlow> "when did you rent it out?"
- [17:02] <Mathmatt878> She racks her brain, and says that it would have been almost a week ago.
- [17:02] <Mathmatt878> Perhaps, six days?
- [17:02] <Kezlow> "alright, then."
- [17:03] <Kezlow> I ask her if she's got any books on popular tourism spots on Prospit.
- [17:04] <Mathmatt878> She says she doesn't have any books, but she does have a pamphlet with the information you want.
- [17:04] <Kezlow> I say that would be wonderful.
- [17:04] <Mathmatt878> She begins searching for it, checking drawers and underneath books, before she finds it in between the pages of another book as a bookmark. She hands it to you.
- [17:04] <Kezlow> I thank her and stow it away for later.
- [17:05] <Kezlow> I ask if she's got any books on the history of the war.
- [17:05] <Mathmatt878> She nods excitedly, and tells you those are another favourite genre of hers.
- [17:06] <Mathmatt878> She grabs a large, open book from her desk, and hands it to you.
- [17:06] <Kezlow> "i'll take this, but do you have anything more concise?"
- [17:06] <Kezlow> "i'm really only looking for a short overview."
- [17:07] <Mathmatt878> She shakes her head. Most shorter books are only for children to read, and they don't generally have topics such as war.
- [17:07] <Kezlow> "between now and the beginning of time is quite a lot of ground to cover"
- [17:07] <Mathmatt878> She sighs, and nods, although insisting it's a very interesting book.
- [17:07] <Kezlow> I thank her anyway, and stow the book with the pamphlet.
- [17:08] <Kezlow> "i'll see how far i can get in it"
- [17:08] <Kezlow> Something suddenly occurs to me.
- [17:08] <Kezlow> "do i need a library card?"
- [17:08] <Mathmatt878> She shakes her head, and says that as long as she gets the book backs eventually, she'll be happy.
- [17:09] <Kezlow> "that's a good policy."
- [17:09] <Kezlow> I know it's a longshot, but I ask the next question anyway.
- [17:10] <Kezlow> "do you have any books on proficiency in combat with medieval weaponry?"
- [17:11] <Mathmatt878> She shakes her head. She has books on medieval weaponry, but not about wielding them, just the book itself.
- [17:12] <Kezlow> I say I'll take it anyway.
- [17:12] <Kezlow> Can't hurt.
- [17:12] <Mathmatt878> She nods and goes to one of the far shelves, returning a few minutes later with a dusty book about medieval weapons, handing it to you.
- [17:13] <Kezlow> I move my eyes shiftily before asking the next question.
- [17:14] <Kezlow> "do you know anything of a being who calls himself 'master'?
- [17:14] <Kezlow> "
- [17:14] <Mathmatt878> She looks at you confused, and shakes her head.
- [17:14] <Kezlow> I frown.
- [17:14] <Mathmatt878> She also asks if you want a book on various religions, those tend to be called Master a lot.
- [17:14] <Kezlow> "i..."
- [17:15] <Kezlow> "eh, sure."
- [17:15] <Kezlow> "knowledge is power and all that."
- [17:15] <Mathmatt878> She nods and goes to another corner of the library, bringing back an absurdly large book of all things religion-based.
- [17:15] <Kezlow> I add it to my growing collection and turn to her.
- [17:15] <Kezlow> I thank her for her time, and ask for her name.
- [17:17] <Mathmatt878> She says that she is SL, or the Silent Librarian.
- [17:17] <Kezlow> "you don't seem very silent to me."
- [17:17] <Mathmatt878> She shrugs, and says it mostly has to do with being quiet in the library.
- [17:17] <Kezlow> I laugh, and introduce myself in turn.
- [17:18] <Mathmatt878> She says that it's nice to meet you, Kezlow, and an honour to speak with one of the heroes.
- [17:18] <Kezlow> Oh yes.
- [17:18] <Kezlow> I ask her what she can tell me of the hero mythos.
- [17:19] <Mathmatt878> She says it's just a tradition that those who sleep in the towers will awaken to be heroes of legend.
- [17:20] <Kezlow> "what are they fabled to accomplish?"
- [17:21] <Mathmatt878> She smiles.
- [17:21] <Mathmatt878> Saving the world.
- [17:21] <Kezlow> "this world?"
- [17:22] <Mathmatt878> All of them.
- [17:22] <Kezlow> "huh."
- [17:22] <Kezlow> "saving it from what?"
- [17:22] <Mathmatt878> She shrugs.
- [17:22] <Mathmatt878> If she had to guess, probably the war.
- [17:23] <Kezlow> "weren't we not supposed to end that?"
- [17:24] <Mathmatt878> She thinks for a minute, before saying that you aren't supposed to end it YET.
- [17:24] <Mathmatt878> Now would be dangerous.
- [17:24] <Kezlow> "soon?"
- [17:25] <Mathmatt878> She shakes her head.
- [17:25] <Mathmatt878> She says maybe never.
- [17:25] <Kezlow> "that's kind of a lame prophesy"
- [17:26] <Kezlow> "i'm awake right now and ready to get stuff accomplished."
- [17:26] <Kezlow> "do we need to trigger something beforehand?"
- [17:26] <Mathmatt878> She says it's just a myth, no proof at all.
- [17:26] <Kezlow> "i'm living proof."
- [17:27] <Mathmatt878> She explains that she means the part about you saving them.
- [17:27] <Kezlow> "ah."
- [17:27] <Kezlow> "well, it's been fun."
- [17:28] <Kezlow> "i'll make sure to recommend this library to the masses."
- [17:28] <Kezlow> "hopefully it won't be unpopular for long."
- [17:28] <Mathmatt878> She nods, and thanks you for your kindness.
- [17:28] <Kezlow> I thank her for /her/ kindness.
- [17:29] <Mathmatt878> She smiles.
- [17:29] <Kezlow> I strut out of the library, books in tow, and begin heading for the huge planet I somehow missed.
- [17:30] <Kezlow> I see if I can spot a castle or palace of some sort.
