- As what I told @Lylia on the other post, I am going to share a lttle bit on why I am leaving (or considering leaving) beam. It's been 3 days since I stopped streaming on Beam, I've been consistently streaming on beam everyday for the past 2-3 months. Even if its for 30mins to 1hour.
- I am by no way dissing beam, dont get me wrong, beam is a great platform and the community is tight knit also helpful.
- I feel that the 'follows' and 'viewership' for beam feels superficial. It's nice to see that you get X-amount of concurrent viewers / followers while streaming. But in my short time on beam dedicated to only streaming on beam I noticed a pattern not only on one stream but it happens almost on all streams.
- Further elaboration on why i used the word 'superficial', I've made friends with a few of the top streamers on beam (although nothing compared to what twitch has) who pulls 100-150 concurrent viewers daily, partnered. Have been Raided/Hosted by these people a few times now.
- I'm guessing this happens on twitch too.. But here's what im talking bout, majority of the people on beam are supportive in the sense that...
- 1. They usually follow for follow.
- 2. They would tune into your stream to help you increase viewership
- 3. Shout you out pretty often if you frequent their stream
- Now the problem stems from point 2, it's at the point where majority of the people does that. And it happens on almost everystream i visit (unless they are partnered or beam's top streamers)
- I know twitch probaly has this problem too, but in my 6-8 months on twitch i may have gotten lesser concurrent viewers but people who come, they come and stay to actually watch. Instead of just here to 'park'
- My other problem is even though beam has this FTL (sub second delay stream) its still lacking in comparison to twitch. Stability and Usercount are two of the bigger things i have in mind.
- Going into stream ,everywhere you see familiar faces this is a good thing because it means you are well networked in this platform. But it also means that the crowd is that small.
- Take my pointers with a pinch of salt, because I was nowhere as close to how involved to streaming when i was on Twitch. I've also picked up a lot of things on networking, streaming and interacting during stream while i was on Beam.
- Now.. onto some numbers. On how I came to this conclusion as to where I am right now on Beam.
- I've garnered more followers (4 times more) in 3months than I've ever had on twitch over a period of 6-8 months. Recently received a substantial amount of tip from someone on Beam. I've also made a few friends who i some times play games with nowadays.
- Dont get me wrong, no one should go out streaming with the idea of making money or making it a job ( at least i'm not and is not supportive of it ) After receiving that tip i went around to people i believe in and support, tipped boout 4-5 of them.
- Now... I apologize or the lengthy post BUT! If you were considering going into beam. dont let my post put you down. It IS a great platform to learn about streaming and not just streaming but also the social aspects of it.
