  1. Dear [Member of Parliament],
  2.
  3. I am a constituent of [Your Riding], and I have concerns about Canada Post, and the way that this government has handled this labour dispute.
  4.
  5. I am disappointed in the government for trying to force unwanted changes upon Canada Post under the excuse of economic reasons. I am disappointed in the government seemingly allowing the upper management of Canada Post to cry poor after their own mismanagement contributed to the current issues that they face. I am disappointed and concerned that Canada Post and this government has implied throughout this labour dispute that the postal workers - people who are just trying to make their living - are responsible for the chaos, uncertainty, and damage to Canada Post's finances and reputation; when the responsibility falls to Canada Post refusing to negotiate in good faith to find a solution beneficial to both Canada Post and its postal workers. Finally, I am disappointed that this government wants to treat our national postal service as a business that needs to make a profit every financial quarter, instead of as an investment and a public service that can help build Canada Strong and keep Canadians connected – especially for small Canadian businesses, Canadians in rural and remote areas, and Canadians in the northern Territories.

  9. I also recognize that you, [my MP], my Member of Parliament for [my riding] was [feel free to mention if they were one of the candidates or the only candidate] in my riding in the last election to have taken the CUPW pledge, according to the Canadian Union of Postal Workers; this pledge influenced [you and/or your family's] decision in who [I or we] voted for in this last election.

  12.
  13. I am writing to ask you as my representative for [my riding] to do everything within your power to live up to your pledge by standing up for the rights of postal workers, to encourage the government to push Canada Post back to the negotiating table in good faith, to encourage Canada Post to end the uncertainty by giving postal workers their fair and just compensation for their work, and to help the government and this Parliament take comprehensive and meaningful steps to invest into our postal service NOT as a business but as a public service that can help build and keep Canada Strong. Finally; if any party or member of parliament wishes to take any undemocratic and anti-worker attempts to force postal workers back to work via legislation or through the abuse of Section 107 of the Canada Labour Code - ESPECIALLY if this attempt comes directly from your party and this government - I ask you, [my MP], as my representative as the Member of Parliament for [my riding], to have the courage to live up to your pledge by standing up against any attacks against our country's postal workers and their rights to strike and to engage in free and fair collective bargaining.

  15. I thank you for taking your time to read this email, I hope that you take these concerns seriously, and I wish you nothing but the best in representing my riding in Parliament.
