  1. >"Natsuki, my dear friend. Please come to the literature club room tonight at 1:00 AM. The doors will be unlocked, so don't worry about getting in. I have an important matter to discuss with you. Come alone, and don't attract attention. I know your secret." The paper read.
  2. >Confused at the note slipped into her homework folder, Natsuki sat it to the side and began on her work. She'd show up, for sure. If it was in her folder, whoever snuck it into there must've been serious.
  3.
  4. >The room was dim, the only lights being that of the moon coming through the window and the single candle on the makeshift table made of pushed-together desks.
  5. >Illuminated by the flickering wick, the three girls seated talked amongst themselves.
  6. >There was general chitchat, discussions of the day's prior events, and such.
  7. >There was also one big question; why were they here, at school, in the dead of night? Why did they find a note in their schoolbags summoning them?
  8. >And what was the secret it teased at? Each letter was addressed individually, but otherwise they were identical.
  9. >The three skirted around the issue, but no one would spill the beans on the secrets they held.
  10. >A moment later, the door opened slowly and in poked the head of Monika.
  11. >"Fuckin' finally! We've been here for ten minutes, and some people have better things to do than be at school on a Friday night!" The pink one complained.
  12. >"Eheh, sorry. I hope it doesn't- wait, you don't seem surprised at me being the one to bring you here." Monika began, before leaving off on a question.
  13. >"Well, the penmanship of the notes matches yours." Yuri noted.
  14. >"Yeah! And we read each other's poems every day, so it was plain to see!" Sayori beamed.
  15. >"Plus, you wrote it in green ink. Kinda obvious." Natsuki huffed, arms crossing her chest.
  16. >"Oh. Well, anyway, thank you for coming! And I hope it wasn't too much trouble. Now, onto matters at hand." She closed the door behind her, walking to the table before setting her bag on it. "Now, let's start with secrets. Anyone got anything to share?"
  17. >The club members clammed up. Sayori spoke first, sheepishly.
  18. >"Well, I stole one of Natsuki's chip bags last week."
  19. >"You fuckin' jerk!" The pink one let a small slap against the arm of the blue one. "If you asked I woulda shared!"
  20. >"Sorry, sorry!"
  21. >"Well, that's not quite what I was looking for, but thank you for being honest. No one else?" The three avoided eye contact, and stayed silent. "Fine. I was referring to these."
  22. >Pulling a folder from her bag, she opened it to reveal some photos to the crew.
  23. >Young men, from their favorite VN, Heartbeat Heartbeat Book Meet. The Dokis fluttered at the sight of their loves, but tried to calm themselves.
  24. >Ever since the anomalous event that crossed worlds, the government struggled against the new population, with the strange diseases and quirks they brought with them.
  25. >As a precaution, it was made illegal to interact with them beyond business endeavors until things had been sorted out, and so far it had been slow going.
  26. >It wasn't fair; they knew they loved these people, and yet they couldn't express their love without being punished severely.
  27. >"W-who are those people? Some dorks? Heh." Natsuki stuttered out. "E-especially that one on the right."
  28. >"I..." Yuri cut herself off.
  29. >Sayori looked at the picture then back up to Monika, struggling to keep words in.
  30. >"Go ahead, let it out." Monika assured with a knowing nod.
  31. >"Oh, my dragonfly!" She reached out and grabbed the photo of her love, pulling it close into a hug.
  32. >The two sitting beside her looked at her, then reached for their own photos and simultaneously devolved into sentimental cuddlers with the papers.
  33. >After a moment, Monika cleared her throat, grabbing their attention. Yuri and Natsuki sheepishly lowered their pictures, while Sayori snapped to attention with the photo still held against her face. Holding up her own love, the green one began to speak once more.
  34. >"So, obviously we all love one of the Anons from HHBM. We can't just sit idly by when we could be starting our lives together! What if something happens to him, or someone tries to take them? We have to do something."
  35. >"Yeah, but what do you suggest? We can't just walk up and ask them out, or we'd both get arrested." Natsuki stated bluntly.
  36. >"Right. So, here's the plan; we'll help each other with our Anons. It cuts out the outbursts of love until we're in private with them, avoiding any unwanted attention. We've all got unique skills, and we can put them to use in bringing them back here. Then, once we have each other in our grasps, we can work out how to disguise them as regular citizens."
  37. >"Hm. That seems like it'll work, if we pull it off. And it would definitely be worth it. But I have to ask, Monika." Yuri started.
  38. >"Yes?"
  39. >"How did you know for sure that we loved these Anons? It was extremely risky for you to come out like this. If you were wrong, any one of us could have reported you."
  40. >"Please, Yuri. You think I don't notice your poetry styles? They match each of the Anon's exactly! Plus, I see you all doodling those hearts in your journal during club time when you think no one will notice." The three clam up once more, before Monika gives a small snort and pulls a journal out of her bag, flipping it to a page filled with hearts and doodles of her and her own Anon. "Don't worry, I do it too. Now, are we in this together, or what?" She asked, putting her hand towards the center of the table over top of the candle.
  41. >The three looked to each other, then put their hands in.
  42. >"Okay, everyone! Tomorrow, we'll start on our master plan! Let's meet at my house to sort it out, say, around 3:00?" After a concordance was reached, the four gave their goodbyes to each other, and stuffing the photos in their pockets, left the school one at a time.
  43. >On their journeys home, the Dokis held two things in their heart; hope, and fear, both for what could happen as a result of this.
  44. >However, it had to be done.
