  1. Let us go, you and I, On a journey of the mind
  2. Take these blades of brush and quill and paint the sad skyline
  3. Side by side we strive to stain these empty lands alive
  4. Only you and I, against glares and sighs, knew where we could go
  5. So we walk through the sand, hand in hand, under the common design
  6. Never a thought about what's to come, only the seeds we may sow
  7. A bond in war, forged with tones we thought might never die
  8. Our foes do fall, and the land is dyed, if only by you and I
  9.
  10. So let us go, you and I, further in that darkened waste
  11. In shields of thought and swords of color, we might give it a taste
  12. With our battle scars, and who we are, each fight will add a day
  13. To the time we spent, a bond present, never could it end
  14. Or so we thought as we created the futures of our way
  15. The futures so bright, built of our might, they would not mend
  16. For you sought the earth, and I would rather the night and day
  17. Painting the skies and dyeing the ground, we would spend
  18. The journey of the mind, going a separate way
  19.
  20. As our trek did endure, our enemies procured their numbers
  21. With our world at our backs, the emptiness, it did not slumber
  22. The vast void cared not of what pleasure we have sought
  23. No disparity in its eyes, only the demise of all knew was not holy
  24. The beast of naught, it menaced our world of thought
  25. So we prepared for our great Thermopylae
  26.
  27. Let us go, you and I, into this one final time
  28. So our skies and land might climb
  29. Over that vast, barren darkness
  30. Our world, no more so heartless
  31. The brush and quill, so eager to kill
  32. That last little bit of starkness
  33.
  34. Days of life, days of brightening, days of nothing cheerful
  35. For once it ended, what we mended, would end in something tearful
  36. For you the earth, and me the sky, no longer could we travel
  37. On a path together, birds of a feather, with no black left to battle
  38. Our bond, once strong, was all but gone, in feelings oh so fragile
  39. In this journey of the mind, this was our last time, to build our great castle
  40.
  41. Let us go, you and I, in our separate ways
  42. Let us go, you and I, so our path may never stray
  43. Let us go, you and I, but do still keep the memory
  44. Let us go, you and I, for this there is no remedy
  45.
  46. Let us go, you and I, for our souls have gone awry
  47.
  48. Let us go, you and I, since this is our last goodbye
