  1. >Twilight closes the door behind her. The blond mare proceeds to eye you.
  2. >"My. I do wonder why she came here?"
  3. "...Wait. You're asking me?"
  4. >"Erh. Actually I was talking to myself." She smiles awkwardly.
  5. >"Anyhow. It looks like you are faring pretty well."
  6. >Her doctor trots to the door and opens it.
  7. >"So, I suppose you won't be needing that IV anymore."
  8. >She comes back into the room. Pushing a medical cart.
  9. >It had equipment and a trash can in it.
  10. >"First. I'll need to know your body temperature."
  11. >She takes out a thermometer.
  12. >"Say: Aaaah."
  13. >You open your mouth.
  14. >"Very good. It will only take a sec."
  15. >As you wait. The medic takes the IV bag.
  16. >She proceeds to dismantle the plastic snake. She leaves the IV line for last.
  17. >Once she deposits the leftovers inside the trash can. She turn to you.
  18. >"That should be enough."
  19. >She takes a look at the stick.
  20. >"Impressive. According to this; you're just below average heat."
  21. >Looking at you. She asks.
  22. >"Care to share your secrets?"
  23. >Noisy, she is. But amusing none the less.
  24. "Sorry. A magician never reveals his secrets."
  25. >"Hmph. What a shame." She says dryly.
  26. >She takes a small ball of cotton from the cart.
  27. >She bathes it on what looks like alcohol.
  28. >"Very well. Take this. No. With your right hoof."
  29. >You pick the wet cotton ball.
  30. >Without losing a moment. You press it above the nail on your left hoof.
  31. >"Oh hey. Thanks for thinking forward." She smiles.
  32. >And for the final act. She takes the catheter out.
  33. >"Keep pressing for a while."
  34. "Yeah. I know."
  35. >Her doctor throws the catheter into the trash.
  36. >"I wish all the patients could recover as well as you."
  37. >She said as she ogled your roommate.
  38. >Embarrassingly. You had already forgotten about him.
  39. >The earth mare now approaches the officer.
  40. >She starts to switch the liquid bags.
  41. >As she does. You spot a window blind.
  42. >Curiosity strikes you.
  43. >You try to stand on all four.
  44. >Success. But you quiver as you do so.
  45. >Flinching every step of the way.
  46. >The mare spots you approaching the window.
  47. >She switches the almost empty IV bag and then intercepts you on your way.
  48. >"If you need to go somewhere; just ask."
  49. "No. I can do this, thanks."
  50. >The earth pone follows you with concern.
  51. >You try to open the window blind.
  52. >It takes some effort. So the mare in white helps you with it.
  53. >"Is that. What you wanted to see?"
  54. >Twilight wasn't lying.
  55. >The moon was red blood. A landscape like no other.
  56. >Shyly hiding between the clouds. Glorified by surrounding stars.
  57. >The crimson color of the moon was reflected by all towers in Canterlot.
  58. >Giving it this bizarre Transylvania feel.
  59. >A night like no other. This would probably look great on Nightmare Night.
  60. >But something bothers you.
  61. >You have the feeling that this night's moon. Is gonna bite you back.
  62. >Somehow. Someway. Sometime.
  63. >"Isn't it freaky?"
  64. >The mare said from behind you.
  65. >"I mean, it's kinda scary, but also terrific. Wouldn't you agree?"
  66. >Nope.
  67. "Why? It looks all too... grotesque."
  68. >A.k.a edgy.
  69. >"Well... Princess Luna has always been a bit 'shy'."
  70. >Is this mare for real?
  71. "As in?"
  72. >"Well, she has always had a problem talking with her subjects. But to think that she would make this for Nightmare Night... I think she's beginning to embrace new Canterlot."
  73. >For Nightmare Night?
  74. "And who told you that?"
  75. >"Nopony... But I wouldn't be surprised. I hear she had a blast on Ponyville last time."
  76. >News travel rather slow.
  77. "And how about with the state. Is she politically active?"
  78. >She lets out a small hum.
  79. >"I suppose."
  80. >Remember with who you're talking to Anon. She's just your caretaker.
  81. >You keep staring at this unusual landscape.
  82. >As you do so, the earth mare continues her routine.
  83. >The atmosphere that the red body invokes is... conflicting.
  84. >Her doctor is right on something. This a pretty night for such unusual circumstances.
  85. >Then again, this is what edgy DA users fap to.
  86. >It makes you feel like a faggot since you're the reason this exists.
  87. >"I've gotta say. Your recovery is miraculous."
  88. >She has pointed this out many times. Makes you wonder.
  89. "Why?"
  90. >She smiles warmly.
  91. >"Because you have been here for an hour or so. Even the ER team thought you had... well..."
  92. >Your memory is fuzzy. But if you recall correctly.
  93. >They thought you were D.O.A: Death on Arrival.
  94. "Expired..."
  95. >"Yes. I wouldn't mind to take a blood sample. You know, for medical reasons."
  96. >The rascal in you takes over.
  97. "Anytime. I just need to make a private date. Right?"
  98. >Smiling, she says.
  99. >"Such enthusiasm. I like it."
  100. >You chuckle on her words.
  101. >She starts to trot to the door, pushing her cart.
  102. >You glance at your roommate.
  103. "Hmm. Excuse me. But could you tell me when is the officer gonna wake up?"
  104. >"Oh, him. I don't think he's going to wake up in a long while. Maybe in some hours, or until tomorrow."
  105. >That's a relief. You don't have to deal with what's his face.
  106. "Thanks."
  107. >"No problem. And if you need anything; ask the guards."
  108. >What.
  109. >As she opens the door and leaves. You can see some soldiers patrolling the hall.
  110. >Yeah. Even if you starve. You're not going to deal with them.
  111. >With nothing to do. You peek out the window.
  112. >You catch view of some pegasi in patrol. Along with the occasional unicorn guarding from the towers.
  113. >Directing your view down. You see the entrance of the castle.
  114. >It was plunder by platoons of soldiers.
  115. >The view was... intriguing. To say the least.
  116. >You hear the wounded officer's groan. Seems like he may need to rest for the week.
  117. >With nothing to do and no needs to satisfy. You keep staring at the full moon.
  118. >After some time. You look at the clock in the wall. It has been twelve minutes.
  119. >The scenery in front of you, as strange as it is, has lost its wonder.
  120. >You think back to the incident.
  121. >Trying to recall anything gives you empty memories, but at least it doesn't yield migraines.
  122. >All you can recall is a faint guttural whisper.
  123. >Whatever it was. It was disturbingly soothing.
  124. >As you reminiscence. You remember your cutie mark.
  125. >That pentagram with obscure inscription on it.
  126. >Now that you think about it. You could never read it.
  127. >Looking at your surroundings, you look for a mirror.
  128. >Disappointingly, there aren't any.
  129. "Is that... a bathroom?"
  130. >You said to no one.
  131. >Now that you think about it. This might as well be a guest's room.
  132. >Also, since you have nothing to do.
  133. >You decide give it a shot and decipher the message in your cutie mark.
  134. >...But first you must walk over there.
  135. >Just groovy.
  136. >You shake your way to the fabled door into the bathroom.
  137. >Once inside. You're greeted by regal decorations.
  138. >The florid ornaments seem to fit in. Even though it's just a bathroom.
  139. >You spot the mirror. You close the door.
  140. >Time to read whatever the hell those runes are.
  141. >You approach the mirror. As close as you can.
  142. >You read the symbols written in the outer circle.
  143. >...Something is wrong. This is not a language you're familiar with.
  144. >How in the hell did this got here?
  145. >You know that saying these words is a terrible idea...
  146. >But there is something about it. This is as if it has been calling for you.
  147. >You feel that the temperature became a bit more chilly.
  148. >You say to yourself that you're imagining things. But you know this is not how things work out for you.
  149. >As you inhale and exhale uneasily, you can see your own breath.
  150. >Yep. You ain't gonna do this. You start to NOPE your way out the bathroom.
  151. >But once you're about to exit this box of Pandora.
  152. >Your body contracts painfully. Leaving you gasping for air.
  153. >Your lips twitch out of your control, trying to pronounce the unspoken words.
  154. >The desire to speak those forbidden letters consumes you.
  155. >You bite your lips in defiance. Sure that you can win.
  156. >With every ounce of your willpower, you try to leave this room.
  157. >Your throat becomes dry, itching to spread the word of the devil.
  158. >Your body refuses your demands. It only has one wish: To announce the supernatural.
  159. >So close to freedom; yet so far.
  160. >An icy gust forces you to turn to the mirror.
  161. >Malignant cramps, cold as ice command you to submit.
  162. >In retaliation, you close your eyes. But your endeavor is futile. For the runes are ingrained into your vision.
  163. >Your mouth feels dry now. Gasping to restrain it is your last stand.
  164. >Unfortunately, your resistance becomes trivial.
  165. >Unable to combat such desire. You whisper the sentence.
  166. "y-uln grah'n gof'nn nog'llll gnaiih'hai"
  167. >You mumbled slowly. Savoring each letter.
  168. >That shit is fucked up. This is a horror setting.
  169. >Once spoken, you are in control again.
  170. >You open your eyes; slowly; expecting something that would eat you.
  171. >To your delight, there isn't anything stalking you... this only makes it worst.
  172. >These Lovecraftian horrors are getting a toll on you.
  173. >Then you notice... you're black. The final nail on the casket.
  174. "Nope. I saw this movie. The nigger dies first."
  175. >You nervously trot to the door.
  176. y͞҉'a̶̢̕i̧ ̛͠ḩa̢̨f҉h̛͡'̴͟d͏͡r҉̵n̶̨
  177. >Of course; life is never easy.
  178. >A malicious wind paralyzes your body. Something wants to talk to you.
  179. "Yes? What do you want?"
  180. >The voice didn't reply.
  181. >You look for its origin. You bet anything that he's in the mirror.
  182. >You turn to face it.
  183. >Nothing.
  184. >This can't be your imagination.
  185. >Your twisted mind is for fucked up sexual scenarios. NOT for pants shitting terror.
  186. >Staring at yourself. You noticed that there is another set of letters.
  187. >These are engraved within the upside-down star.
  188. >You would fight against the paranormal once more.
  189. >But the susurrus engulfing your ears convince you otherwise.
  190. >Hesitantly. You speak.
  191. "uln hri'ai"
  192. >You swallow your own spit in anticipation.
  193. >...
  194. >Thankfully. No monster appears.
  195. >You wait a bit further.
  196. >Just when you were about to give on waiting. The world was gobbled by unforgiving darkness.
  197. >This feel oddly familiar. The cold. The empty... The dead.
  198. >A poltergeist speaks to you.
  199. h̨͟͡a̶͏f̛h̵̀͞'҉̛͡drn̴̨̡ ̵҉ul̵n͟͝
  200. >And so, your memories rush back to you.
  201. >This was the beast that assaulted you and Luna.
  202. >The shock leaves you petrified.
  203. >The memories of this demon crashed back into your mind.
  204. >Twitching in shock, you begin to control your anxiety.
  205. >It took you some effort, but you manage to pull yourself back together.
  206. >It seems like this thing is a protector of some kind.
  207. >The concept of an eldritch god living within your mind is insane.
  208. >Now that you think about it, last time you were here you didn't have a body.
  209. >You look to yourself.
  210. >It's your pone body, but it's better than nothing.
  211. >You notice that the ghost hasn't said a word. You ask for it to talk.
  212. "Um. Hi there... Can you tell me. Why did you brought me here?" Still trembling, you ask.
  213. >The Leviathan spoke with a sepulchral tone.
  214. '͢ài̵
  215. "And can't you do it without being too spooky?"
  216. n͢a͏҉̷-̶̶͞a̕h̴͝͞
  217. "I see... On any case. Who are you?"
  218. h̸a҉͘͢fh̸̸'̀d͘̕r҉n͠͏-̀ń̴y͞t̕͠h̛
  219. >That can't be right. That's more like an occupation.
  220. "Wait. You're serious? That's your name?"
  221. h̡'͡a̶h̛
  222. >Intriguing. Why would it be named like that?
  223. >Unless... it's a slave. But then...
  224. "Kay then. Tell me; what do you want to talk about. Also; why are you my servant?"
  225. s'u҉hn
  226. >Da fuck? It answered both questions with a perplexing explanation.
  227. "A... pact!? Where is this contract?"
  228. g͟e̴b҉
  229. >You feel something touching your flanks.
  230. "The hell?!"
  231. >You turn to see another one of those disgusting limbs.
  232. g̸e̛b̵
  233. >The creature points at your cutie mark.
  234. "Wait. So this pentagram... is the contract?"
  235. >You were agitated, to say the least.
  236. h͟'̀a̷ḩ
  237. >Interesting. So in other words...
  238. >Your special talent is selling your soul to the devil. Now ain't that something.
  239. >But there are many demons on human folklore. So...
  240. "A pact with whom?"
  241. c̶͜͟-̡̧̡c͏̴ḩt̀e̸̶n̴f̵f̀͡
  242. >Oh perfect. So there are more of these things.
  243. >How in the hell did you contact these things in the first place?
  244. "That only opens more questions."
  245. à͢͝h̴'͜͟ḩ̵̧a̢͝f̢h͏͘'̨d̷͟r̵͜͢n ͜g̴̸͡o̴̷t͏h̸a҉̛'͟͡͞é̡͞e͢͞
  246. >The poltergeist asked.
  247. "Yes, I command you to respond all my questions."
  248. go̸̶͢k͘͜͠ą
  249. >Welp. Apparently you're the owner of a Cthulhu. Congratulations.
  250. >First of all.
  251. "How did I contact you?"
  252. na̛a̵h͢͝'̸͘s҉h̨͞t̴̛͝u̢ng͢g̷͢͟l͟i ̸͘͝c'c̀͠ht҉e̸̡̡n͏҉̷ff̸̡ ̡͜c͜h͘t̴̢͜e̕̕ń҉f́͟f̕͝'͡u̶͢l̷ņ͝
  253. >Well that's fucking disturbing.
  254. "And why? What did they saw on me?"
  255. k̶'y̧ár̸n̸ak̛
  256. >...An exchange?
  257. "...I suppose I became a pony, but what did you win?"
  258. ć̛h̀'̛͜a̴͟gl̡͢͠
  259. >Perfect. Just what you needed.
  260. "So what? You want to start a cult to eat the hearts of pones?"
  261. y͡'̛͡g̴o͡t̶̷h̵͠a ̶w͘g͏͏à͢͠h̶͝'̨̧ǹ̡a̢gl̴͝ ͘͞m̛͟n̕a̡h̕r͏i҉̛i̡'h̨̧͢ŗ̛i̧i͏
  262. >That's...a relief. You're not the puppet of some cosmic monstrosity... Or are you?
  263. "Just to be clear. You take orders from me, not backwards."
  264. a҉h̵
  265. "You're loyal to a fault, unlike that blue pegasus. Right?"
  266. y͘'a͡thg͟ goka ̢h͏af͡ḩ'd̷rn g̴ot҉ha̸
  267. >Sounds convincing.
  268. "And this... community of which you speak. Can they contact you?"
  269. f̸-aḩnafl҉
  270. >You sigh comfort. It felt like someone lifted a heavy weight from you.
  271. >You ponder in the info that this creature has given to you.
  272. "Very well. Let me get this straight. A 'community' of dark gods summoned me. For the purpose of escaping into another realm?"
  273. ka͜d̀i҉śht͝u̷
  274. "I see... So tell me. What does this pact entails?"
  275. c͠-̨k͟'̨͝͠y̵̨a͏rn҉a͜k̕͘͝'̸b̸̕͏th͟͏n̡k͘͠͠
  276. >Sharing existence...
  277. "Say what?"
  278. c-s͟g̶n'wa̷h͟l҉
  279. "In other words... we are one?"
  280. c̶̷͡-̨a̶̡h̢͘
  281. "Very well... Then tell me. How did it happened?"
  282. a̶h̴
  283. "What exactly!? Why can't I remember anything? Tell me."
  284. >You commanded your servant to reply.
  285. y'̡͘a҉h̛͟n̵͏͞af̵̛͜l̀͢-̷o̴̢g̀
  286. >What?
  287. >Two things strike you odd in that answer.
  288. "First, what do you mean you can't?"
  289. s'̷̡̀ú͡h̷͘n͢ s͘y͢h͠a͝'̡̀h̛́
  290. >So the pact leaves it in silence. But then...
  291. "Which leads me to the other question. You're loyal to your brotherhood, why did you came here with me?"
  292. r҉'ul̴h
  293. "From whom?"
  294. n͡'͟gh͠f̴ţ'sh͟ùg͜g
  295. >That doesn't sound good. At all.
  296. "This darkness... You can't fight it back."
  297. c͡'̴a̶h͜n͜a͡f̶l͏
  298. >You gulp at the thought of a universal destroyer.
  299. "Very well..."
  300. >You take your time to reflect into this.
  301. >In a nutshell. A society of whatever found you and sent you here as a vessel for Cthulhu.
  302. >Surprisingly, the behemoth doesn't desire to make a cult.
  303. >Which is refreshing, considering how you're dealing with an eldritch abomination.
  304. >Interestingly, they locked a part of your memory.
  305. >Finally, Hermaeus here seems to have escaped to this realm. Hiding from something.
  306. >It's exasperating. Talking to this thing is very draining.
  307. >...Wait a minute.
  308. "It was you wasn't it..."
  309. >The guardian kept silent.
  310. "It was YOU who attacked me and Luna?" You say angrily.
  311. nn̷n̢yá
  312. "That isn't an excuse!"
  313. >You were mad at your supposed "protector". It has only caused you trouble since the very start.
  314. nnn̡y͞a ng-l͜lǫig̶'bth̷n͏k̨ ͡h̶li҉r͜gh͝ ͠hl͠i̶rgha͘h͟ t͡h̀ro̴d
  315. "And who says she's an enemy!"
  316. s̴'u̴h̕n
  317. "Screw the pact. Next time she comes here you let her in. Understood!"
  318. >You stand your ground against a cosmic titan.
  319. >But so does it.
  320. s̨͡'̕ú͠h̀n͘ s͜ý͢͟h̀a͘͞'̧̧h̵͏̷ ͞h͜͡͡á̴̧f̴͞h'͘d̵̨rņ̶͡ ̴̨h-a̛͏͠th͜g̢
  321. >Apparently, the contract is sacred.
  322. "Then at least you could've done it without fucking me over!"
  323. f̵-̶̡a̴̡h͠m͠nàh̕͟n҉͝'͜
  324. "Yes they do! You idiot!"
  325. th͏à̸r̶̡an͏̷a̵k ̷̕͢n̢ǹ̷ńy͢a
  326. "...So you're saying that only I matter."
  327. s̶͟͜'͠uh̴n
  328. "...Very well."
  329. >Speaking of neutral lawful.
  330. "In the least; could you have done it in a more sensible way?"
  331. n̡a-̧͘a̢h͟
  332. >You snort at its answer.
  333. >You try to formulate a way to bend its will. Then you realize.
  334. >This thing is a dark god; you're just a mere mortal.
  335. >Even though your anger against your servant boils.
  336. >You can't do anything about it. So much for having a pet Cthulhu.
  337. >You let out an annoyed sigh.
  338. >It seems like your servant protects your body and mind from anyone and anything. Indifferent as to whom it may hurt.
  339. "I-I don't have any more questions..."
  340. >You were about to ask it to return you to reality.
  341. >But before you do that.
  342. "Wait. I do have another question. Is there any way to contact you without being invoked into 'shogg'?"
  343. y'̨͘͟a̶h̀͏'a̷̢i ̷̛͝h̕a͢f̛ḩ̷̵'̕͏̧d͡rn c̶̢̛h͏͞'a̧g̛l͝͏
  344. "And how?"
  345. p̨h̴͘̕'s̶̕h͏ǫgg̷'̵͞a͡i̷ ̷͜͡h͜͟a͜f̴͢h́͏'̵dr̸n͞-n̨̧͞yt̵̸h͞͞
  346. "So I must call you by name?" You rise your eyebrow as you say so.
  347. a͘͡h҉
  348. >Mhmm... It could be useful.
  349. "Very well 'hafh'drn-nyth'. I'll like to change your name."
  350. >Since its language must be spoken with certain satanic tone. Saying its name out loud seems like a bad idea.
  351. >You expect some kind of reply. But it never came.
  352. "Why? You may be wondering. Because 'hafh'drn-nyth' ISN'T a name. Thus; I shall baptize you as M00t. For you resemble an eldritch, almighty and dark god. Who roams in my realm of origin."
  353. >This would also explain why you're here. He probably wanted to be a little filly.
  354. >It should come to no surprise; too. That he fucked that up.
  355. h'̴got̸h͠a͏
  356. >Your follower accepted its new name.
  357. "Very well then. Now; I wish to return to Equestria... But do it gently. Last time it was a bit... rough."
  358. h̨'̴g̶o̧th͘a͡
  359. >The answers provided by M00t arise many questions. Still.
  360. >Back on Canterlot. You have a date with destiny.
  361. >You feel an invisible force pressing you.
  362. >Slowly; your skin is ripped apart; albeit painlessly.
  363. >Your former hide melts as it touches the floor. It's fascinating, in a morbid way.
  364. >You appreciate the muscles in your anatomy as your skin is tore.
  365. >Then, it digs deeper. Reaching your skeleton, pulverizing it. Mercilessly.
  366. >And that's as far you could see. For your vision was stripped from you.
  367. >A horrible snap rings your ears. Overloading your senses.
  368. >Immediately, you're back in the bathroom. You're hyperventilating.
  369. >This was "gentle". Can't imagine what "rough" must be.
  370. >You look to the mirror. You're sweating.
  371. >You feel nauseous. Your eyes itch. Your ears are buzzing.
  372. >You take your time to calm down.
  373. >So... Now that you're here. Let's try to talk to it.
  374. >You whisper its name in front of the mirror three times.
  375. "M00t... M00t... M00t..."
  376. >A shiver runs by your spine. Malignant murmurs run in your mind. It was it.
  377. "So. You can hear me... Very well."
  378. >While inside Equestria, M00t can't directly answer you. But it can whisper its calling to you.
  379. >You think of your next question...
  380. >Actually you can't. Who knows how much time you spent in shogg.
  381. >Maybe if you have the time. You'll continue.
  382. >You direct yourself to back into the "nursery".
  383. >You open the door and get back to the guest's room, where you're greeted by the faces of guards twisting in terror. And Twilight Sparkle.
  384. >The guards were pegasi, carrying spears. While her highness was hovering a quill, books, a list and a scroll.
  385. >"...Anonymous. What are you doing?" The concern in her voice was daunting.
  386. "What? Why do you look scared?"
  387. >Your attorney gulped before replying.
  388. >"Your presence. Why is it back?"
  389. >Shit nigger. You mumble your question to M00t.
  390. >Connection error. Goddammit.
  391. >So this is why it forced you to enter shogg.
  392. "I... can't explain."
  393. >You curse the name of your servant and demand for its powers to dissipate.
  394. >It doesn't want to.
  395. >Her royalty, although distressed, appeases the guards.
  396. >"Don't worry. He is my client."
  397. >Dazzled. They ask.
  398. >"C-c-client of what?"
  399. >"S-s-sorry for the outburst ma'am..."
  400. >"He is the defendant, I am her lawyer."
  401. >Turning to the other guard, she says.
  402. >"It doesn't matter. We all have been surprised by him."
  403. >They submit their condolences.
  404. >"Sorry for being noisy."
  405. >"I apologize ma'am."
  406. >She accepts their offer in behalf of you.
  407. >"Very well Anonymous, we need to hurry. We must arrive at the tribunal in time."
  408. >She signals all three of you to step it up.
  409. >"Yes your highness." They guards say.
  410. >You follow behind them.
  411. >As you do. You catch a glimpse of her doctor and the officer.
  412. >You appreciate them for mere moments but that was enough.
  413. >The once sardonically perky mare was reduced to quivers; hiding behind her patient...
  414. >Her fright was so bad, that she was probably breaking the Hippocratic Oath... Or its pone counterpart.
  415. >As for Gravel. You could see his mouth agape. Staring in silent trepidation.
  416. >And that was the last you saw of them.
  417. >As you're escorted inside the deserted and ever-expanding halls of the castle, guilt overtakes you.
  418. >Even though your hoof was forced into an accident after another. There is one thing you can't deny.
  419. >You're somewhat responsible of this.
  420. >It's true that you didn't have a choice so far. But.
  421. >To say that you're one hundred percent innocent, isn't a fact either.
  422. >You're being umpired by actions; not intentions.
  423. >No matter whenever you had control of them.
  424. >You can't help but feel ashamed as you eye the purple mare.
  425. >Her mane was a bit untidy. She has put effort in this.
  426. >All her focus is spent on a task she barely knows off.
  427. >If only she knew. That she can't help you at all...
  428. >But the princesses can. And have. They stand against their own system for you.
  429. >Indeed.
  430. >The reason why going full rebel has always been your last resort...
  431. >Is because so far there has been some hope that kept your restrained...
  432. >But as the time of reckoning approaches.
  433. >The fear of being slandered as a terrorist turns noticeable.
  434. >Truly; this has been a wild day. The ride is coming to conclusion.
  435. >The anxiety flows in your veins. You dread for the worst.
  436. >If the future holds only despair for you... So be it.
  437. >You came here; not by your choice. But that doesn't mean you'll let them choose your fate.
  438. >Indulging in your imagination. You think of the possible scenarios.
  439. >In the best of cases, Twilight miraculously wins the case unscratched.
  440. >You'll have to deal with screaming pones from now on; but hey. Beggars can't be choosers.
  441. >In the worst possible case... You're sent to Tartarus. What do then?
  442. >You evaluate the idea of escaping forcibly...
  443. >Actually. Worst case scenario is to escape Tartarus; and then sent back.
  444. >Without hope to appeal or parole.
  445. >Basically, being banished and imprisoned on the place you were banished... overthinking...
  446. >Never fails to make things worse.
  447. >First the first. She's your lawyer. All that you tell her is confidential.
  448. >You know what they say. Tell everything to your attorney; also; might as well take this weight off you.
  449. >Right now you're climbing stairs.
  450. >You gather courage to speak. Once you reach the top, you'll talk to her.
  451. >And thus. You do so... Or at least you would.
  452. >As it should be obvious right now. Things aren't that easy.
  453. >The earth shimmered gracefully. It was vibration without violence, enough to catch everyone's attention.
  454. >And as it came it disappeared. In a quiet daze.
  455. >"Seismic activity... Never felt it on Canterlot before."
  456. >Her majesty spoke with detachment. Mesmerized at the unusual event.
  457. >"Are you okay? Princess?"
  458. >A guard spoke concerned.
  459. >"Yes. Thanks for asking."
  460. >Well that was unexpected. But better that what you feared.
  461. >You were about to have a word with Twilight when a voice interrupted you.
  462. >"Princess Twilight, it's a warm surprise to see you here."
  463. >You, along your wardens, search for its origin.
  464. >It came from the other side of the hallway with lofty columns.
  465. >A geriatric stallion lied on the end of the bridge.
  466. >This bridge serves as a support platform connecting a building shaped like a chapel.
  467. >The monument is held by this marvelous-marble board.
  468. >It's a superstructure; floating many feet above the ground. Defying gravity majestically.
  469. >The corridor is encased by soaring cylinders which bend and collide in an arch. Giving the archway the form of an oval.
  470. >Both sides had equally monumental double-glazed windows.
  471. >Spread equally throughout the hallway. Centimeters of thick brick placed in between them.
  472. >The moon's glow gives birth to an uninvited, tense atmosphere.
  473. >"May I say. I do find your unexpected visit rather pleasant."
  474. >His voice was deep and modulated. He begins to approach you.
  475. >"Oh, hi there. It is a pleasure; too." Her highness speaks humbly.
  476. >As he trots on the delicate red carpet beneath him. His features forge themselves.
  477. >You can see a Socratic beard which matched his ghastly hair.
  478. >Curiously, his walk was vivacious. Amusing for someone his age.
  479. >Your lawyer begins to close to him too, and thus, y'all follow.
  480. >You try to speak to her but she couldn't notice you.
  481. >"I am sorry mister, but I don't know you. Would you please tell me your name?"
  482. >"My apologizes, your majesty. I was disturb by the small shake."
  483. >"That is understandable."
  484. >The shifting shadows in the stallion's face hide his appearance.
  485. >You can't appreciate the full picture; but you can see he's wearing a green business shirt.
  486. >You try to resume your efforts with Twilight; and whisper to her.
  487. "Twilight. There's something you need to know..."
  488. >She peeks at you.
  489. >"About?"
  490. "My memory... I remember. And I want to tell you now."
  491. >She cheers up instantly.
  492. >"Really. I can't wait to hear it. But not here, or now."
  493. "But Twilight-"
  494. >Before you knew it, you had already met with the Methuselah.
  495. >"Sorry to interrupt."
  496. >He bows in front of her majesty. In a shocking twist, his hip doesn't crack.
  497. >"My name is Timber Grey. Nice to meet you."
  498. >Now that Captain Ahab is in range, you can observe him fully.
  499. >He is a chocolate earth pone, with disheveled, short and ashen mane.
  500. >His face is wizened, resembling the cracks of an oak tree. Eyelids are wrinkled, too.
  501. >There is some light in his brown iris, albeit jaded by age, but you can see discipline in them.
  502. >Now you can see a medal hanging from his chest. It's shaped like a star.
  503. >His body, although seasoned, feigns to be younger.
  504. >A small glimpse confirms his cutie mark: An open book with squiggles on it and a scale on the background.
  505. >Lastly, his expression was controlled. Rigid. Calmed... Almost like he wasn't affected by you.
  506. >Impressive.
  507. >Her majesty responds.
  508. >"Nice to meet you."
  509. >"The pleasure is only mine, your highness." He says flatly.
  510. >He takes a glance at you.
  511. >"And I-I suppose. That he's the conspirator."
  512. >He stutter momentarily before completing his sentence eloquently.
  513. >"As you may have deduced."
  514. >The old stallion's expression tenses.
  515. >"I see. And what would bring the Princess here? Perhaps you would act as a barrister?"
  516. >He was being noisy but with hints of utmost respect.
  517. >The alicorn resumes her walk.
  518. >"Indeed. I suppose you assume that much by the books I carry."
  519. >She also resumes reading her books.
  520. >Moses pursues her steps, followed by you and the guards.
  521. >"Splendid deduction. And who would you represent?"
  522. >She lazily points a hoof behind her, missing you.
  523. >Him. The stallion in black."
  524. >Vandyke was dumbfounded.
  525. >"S-s-sure?" He almost swallows his tongue.
  526. >"Yes; what is so shocking about it?"
  527. >The stallion's features tense on heavy disapproval.
  528. >"My Princess. What has driven you to represent THIS-
  529. >He accusingly points his hoof at you.
  530. >thug?! Isn't the damage he has done enough!"
  531. >Her majesty faces the stallion with restrained disapproval.
  532. >"Actually. I was asked by the Princesses to be her attorney."
  533. >Socrates is, strangely, concerned now.
  534. >"That is... most peculiar. Now tell me. Do YOU believe in his innocence?"
  535. >What is with this old crook?
  536. >"I do. Of course. If I didn't, why would I be here?"
  537. >Twilight spoke shakily. As you figured before, she's doing this as a favor to the Princesses.
  538. >Abraham Lincoln becomes dead serious. His glare was intimidating.
  539. >"Even my hips are more stable than that, my majesty."
  540. >He catches up with what he said.
  541. >"I'm sorry. It was not my intention." He bows in front of her. Apologizing.
  542. >Twilight was offended, but she drops the issue.
  543. >"Fine, but please. It is not necessary to bow on me."
  544. >"As you command, your highness."
  545. >The stallion stopped paying his respects.
  546. >After a small beat.
  547. >You and company continue your path.
  548. >"I'm shocked that you'll choose to defend him. Considering how it was you who brought him here."
  549. >Lenin simply doesn't know when to shut up.
  550. >"Then who would I represent?"
  551. >"Your friends."
  552. >What?
  553. "I'm unaware of the details. Can someone fill me in?"
  554. >Without looking at you, Marx replies.
  555. >"Mmph. So you're in the dark; colt? I wonder why?" He says sarcastically.
  556. >Your lawyer takes a small peek at the old stallion. Just like him, she doesn't turns to you.
  557. >"I was going to tell you in the lobby. But since he already mentioned it..."
  558. >She glares at Plato.
  559. >"...The prosecution has called forth four witnesses. Amongst them: Applejack and Rarity."
  560. >What again?
  561. "And how come you haven't mention this?"
  562. >"Not the time Anonymous; right now I need to focus on a very important task."
  563. >She gives you the cold shoulder.
  564. >What a wonderful lawyer. Ain't she?
  565. >Then; the fossil speaks.
  566. >"So you've spent your time looking for ways to shut down their testimonies."
  567. >Her majesty looks at him astonished.
  568. >Shut down their testimonies?
  569. >Anaxagoras is unmoved by her stare.
  570. >"So it's as I suspected. The defense will throw a pretrial motion to remove them. Right?"
  571. >Her majesty gulps.
  572. >"How do you figure that out?"
  573. >Twilight, you can't be serious.
  574. >"It seems like your perception requires tuning. Why; I'm the prosecutor of this case."
  575. >Your attorney is shocked at this revelation.
  576. >She failed to notice that; Anaximander here; is her rival. At least today.
  577. >Her ear flaps. Her face when she was puzzled now.
  578. >"Your name... It sounds familiar..."
  579. >"Probably because I'm mentioned on that book; Chief Prosecutor Grey; to be exact."
  580. >You're now standing in front of two rather tall doors.
  581. >Chief Prosecutor... well shit.
  582. >Twilight looks for the page where she read his name.
  583. >Mildly disturbed. She asks.
  584. >"...D-didn't you... Were you not on vacations?"
  585. >Aristotle looks at her.
  586. >"Some incident this afternoon caught my attention, so I decided to stay and look into it."
  587. >No doubt he's talking about the train fiasco.
  588. >"Shall we enter?"
  589. >Your attorney is unnerved. Apparently, Eastwood deciphered her strategy.
  590. >This doesn't look promising; at all.
  591. >Recollecting herself. The alicorn gathers her focus and opens the large doors.
  592. >Inside; the aura of stiffness puts you on edge.
  593. >It was the mythical Sun Court. Glowing in glory.
  594. >The first thing to summon your attention was a chandelier hanging from the room's roof.
  595. >Its' body shined along with its' light. Giving the court a magnificent illumination.
  596. >You follow its' gold chains that nail it to the ceiling.
  597. >There, you are greeted by a picturesque painting of Celestia. Symbolizing her power.
  598. >Returning your vision to the ground; at some feet in front of you; there is a ledge of wood that divides the room.
  599. >In the center of the room, there was a podium, shaped like circle. Weird.
  600. >On its sides, you see two jury boxes, they seem to only have space for three pones, each. Weirder.
  601. >In front of it, there was a bench standing tall. Given its height; it's safe to assume that's the judge's bench.
  602. >On its' left side; a small bar is annexed to it. But it dwarves in comparison.
  603. >You see a typewriter sitting on it. You can guess who's table it is.
  604. >On the background, there are two giant mosaics.
  605. >The one on the left had Celestia raising the sun. Consequently; the opposite one had Luna raising the moon.
  606. >You also notice some stairs behind the judge's bench which seem to lead to a second floor. Probably the judge's chambers.
  607. >Finally, you spot two tables that didn't match with the tribunal.
  608. >While all furniture was made of precious wood, such as oak.
  609. >These ones were made of metal, haphazardly thrown to face each other.
  610. >They were vertically oriented from where you stand. They also were in front of the jury's bar.
  611. >Judging by how they face each other. You take them as the benches for the lawyers.
  612. >This is one raggity court.
  613. >The "trial" part of this courtroom seems to be an afterthought.
  614. >"S-So..." Her majesty's voice cracks as she speaks.
  615. >Old Man Greyson glances at her.
  616. >"Yes. In what could I help you?"
  617. >He spoke with the tenderness of a grandpa.
  618. >On her side, Twilight looks overwhelm by many questions.
  619. >Her silence was broken by two mares.
  620. >"TWILIGHT!!"
  621. >They came from a door to you right. As you turn to greet them.
  622. >You see both Treekicker and Squiggletail.
  623. >Both were about to race for her friend but you accidentally intimidate both by glancing at them.
  624. >You stopped them at their tracks, so they trot to her slowly.
  625. >Once next to her, they do a group hug.
  626. >"Twily, I am glad that you are safe and sound." Rara says with relief.
  627. >"Ah'm glad to see ya. But there was no need to come for us." The cowgirl soothes her majesty.
  628. >Now that she is back to herself. Your attorney's loquacity returns.
  629. >"Hi girls! It is nice to see you." Still agitated. She forces a smile on them.
  630. >"What is it dear? Is there something bothering you?"
  631. >"Ah bet that it has somethin' to do with him." AJ turns to you ready to attack.
  632. >Normally, you would feel intimidated. But after that talk with M00t; you can't say you're impressed.
  633. >The alicorn appeases the her friend.
  634. >"No. It is not that." She stores her items in her saddle.
  635. >"Then what is it?" The unicorn asks.
  636. >Robert Jebediah Greyson intervenes.
  637. >"I would assume that; defending a criminal; would cause much stress."
  638. >"Nah, that can't be true. Twi will never do that."
  639. >"Actually..." Her highness inhales deeply.
  640. >"I am his attorney." She points her hoof at you, this time, she succeeds.
  641. >Immediately; the girls voice their concerns.
  642. >"WHAT!!"
  643. >"Twi! What in tarnation are you even talkin' bout?!"
  644. >"I bet this delinquent brainwashed her. HAVE AT YOU!" Rara takes a boxing position.
  645. >She looks so cute, thinking she is big or burly.
  646. >"Calm down Rarity. Dont'cha remember that we all got checked on the head?"
  647. >She gives a glance at AJ before going back on all four.
  648. >"Why yes, of course."
  649. >"Speaking of which. Last time I went over there you were still on testing. What happened?"
  650. >"Ah well, see. This nice mister here got us out."
  651. >"He did?" Her majesty is puzzled again.
  652. >"Correct. As you may be aware, the prosecutor who was going to take this case backed out around an hour ago."
  653. >He leaves a small beat.
  654. >"Anyway. Considering the utmost importance of a witness. I went looking for your friends; and as it turn out; they were left on a constant loop. Being revised ad infinitum. Those recruits need more discipline."
  655. >"Really? Well, you have my thanks." Twilight expresses her gratitude.
  656. "Speaking of which. What are they doing roaming here freely?"
  657. >You gotta admit. You didn't expect to see them outside their designated lobbies.
  658. >"About that: Since the courtroom is an intimidating place, I left them to roam as they saw feat. After all, up until now. All lobbies in this floor were empty."
  659. >The alicorn is a bit annoyed.
  660. >"That sounds very irresponsible from you."
  661. >"But my highness, look around. There are bailiffs guarding all doors."
  662. >Now that he mentions them. You failed to notice the guards.
  663. >"Still. Leaving them like this?"
  664. >"Actually. I have never seen the Sun Court before. The ambient here is just... electrifying!"
  665. >"There sure is somethin' bout it. Mind ya, I can't put a hoof on it."
  666. >Both mares seem to have grown to the room's mood. Looks like Grey's plan worked out.
  667. >Your lawyer sighs in defeat.
  668. >"Fine then. You have my thanks for helping them."
  669. >Grandpa Smith smiles, arrogantly.
  670. >Twilight is upset. But she can't say much about it.
  671. >"So where are the others?"
  672. >She turned to her friends.
  673. >"Well, Ah think that Rainbow left to wonder around Canterlot, along with Pinkie... Ah think."
  674. >"And my poor Fluttershy can't even dare to get out the castle. The red moon scares the little thing."
  675. >"I see. Thanks for telling me."
  676. >A small beat.
  677. >"Anyway. I have to discuss important matters with my client. If you excuse us."
  678. >Your lawyer directs herself to the door on the right. You follow behind her.
  679. >"No wait Twilight-."
  680. >Rarity was cut mid-sentence.
  681. >"Actually. I'll like to have a word with your majesty."
  682. >Epicurus strikes again.
  683. >"The trial is about to start, so why don't you ladies wait in one of the prosecution's lobbies."
  684. >Both refuse.
  685. >"Nah it ain't gonna happen. If any of us is gonna talk to Twi; is us."
  686. >"I concur with Applejack."
  687. >The third age stallion disagrees even further.
  688. >"I'm sorry mmmmy ladies." The mummy speaks as sardonically as he can.
  689. >"But that ain't-I mean. This isn't a request."
  690. >Applejack is now irked at him.
  691. >"But. But ya said we could go around freely."
  692. >"What my friend tried to say is: Would you please allow us to catch with our friend? Ever since we got locked in that awful dungeon we haven't speak to each other."
  693. >Rarity tried to charm the Papa Smurf. Trying to reach the granddad in him.
  694. >She couldn't. Now going for the puppy eyes.
  695. >"I mean, I'm grateful that-" Ezekiel just extends his hoof at her. Signaling her to stop.
  696. >"Ms. Rarity. Although I don't want anything more than to see you reunited with your friend after such stressful day. Please remember; you're inside a courthouse; the law reigns supreme here."
  697. >House said without any intention to back from his argument.
  698. >"The same applies to you Ms. Applejack. So I'll say it again. Please; go and wait in the prosecution's lobby."
  699. >There was a firm sense of discipline in his voice.
  700. >"He is right girls. I am sorry, but you must do so."
  701. >"But Twilight..."
  702. >"Ya heard her Rarity. We can always talk tomorrow."
  703. >"...Ugh. Fine."
  704. >The two mares, defeated, open the door to the left. Disappearing behind it.
  705. >"So. What would you like to discuss?"
  706. >Twilight was suspicious about him.
  707. >"I'll like to talk in private."
  708. >"And why can't we do it here?" That tone. Is the same one she used back at the library.
  709. >"Because it involves your client."
  710. >"Huh."
  711. >"Correct. May I accompany you to your lobby?"
  712. >"There is no need."
  713. >"What do you mean by 'no'?"
  714. >The Spirit of Christmas Past wasn't amused.
  715. >"I can fulfill all the requests you could make to my client."
  716. >Of course, Yoda was amused at this.
  717. >Smiling condescendingly. Okay, this guy striking your nerves now.
  718. >"My beloved Princess." He flickers his head from side to side.
  719. >The alicorn is resentful of his way of expression.
  720. >"If I recall correctly. You said you're a barrister, correct?"
  721. >Wait. She's just a barrister?
  722. >"Yes, so?"
  723. >You can't believe this.
  724. "Seriously... you are going down that road?" You expel a livid groan at him.
  725. >"Would you look at that. Your client has a better knowledge of the laws than you." The sly smile of his only enrages you further.
  726. >"Look. If you want a request from him, I can fulfill it myself."
  727. "You can't."
  728. >"Huh?" Her majesty is dazzled.
  729. >"Barristers can only represent their clients on court. Meanwhile, solicitors can ALSO act in the name of their clients."
  730. "In simple words. He can talk to me and you can't stop him..."
  731. >Her majesty has been cornered.
  732. >"Y-Yes. I suppose. But you just want to talk to-"
  733. >With his signature move. He extends his hoof at her. Indicating her to stop.
  734. >"But I have a contract that I'll like to share with him."
  735. >"Yes you do-I mean... You-" You interrupt her blabbering.
  736. "Twilight, he's right. He requires MY permission. Something you don't possess the right to."
  737. >Biting her lips. She tries to come with an excuse.
  738. "Look; I'm sure that it is no big deal. Let him."
  739. >Still humiliated for such oversight. She ponders in your words.
  740. >She sighs.
  741. "Look, I don't like him either." You throw a glare at him.
  742. >The stallion flinches at it. Then immediately recovers.
  743. "But if you're just a barrister... there is nothing you can do."
  744. >Your companion is nervous, now that you think about it. You can't read Equestrian.
  745. "I'll require you assistance to look at these papers... I need you next to me."
  746. >You keep your glare at the prosecutor. Hoping that it will hold him.
  747. >A bit disappointed, she says.
  748. >"You're my client... Let's go."
  749. >The trio moves into the door on the right. You open the door.
  750. >Before you, there is a curving hallway. Decorated with a blue carpet with generic royalty motifs.
  751. >There were also some decorated armors. Funny to see them outside the armory.
  752. >You can see a door of oak at you right, some feet away from you.
  753. >You start to move into the hallway.
  754. >Your barrister looks broken. You whisper some consolation to her.
  755. "Look Twi. He's obviously trying to undermine you... Don't let him."
  756. >She turns to you and replies: "I know..."
  757. >Following the carpet. You notice that another door.
  758. >Interestingly, there is another mosaic at the end of the hall. With both sisters this time.
  759. >Looking past it. There is small gap between this hall and another.
  760. >Then it click on you. The other hallway is the prosecution's lobby.
  761. >As a matter of fact. You can barely make out Rara's tail.
  762. >So the lobbies have the shape of a crescent moon? Huehuehue.
  763. >"Here. This is our lobby." Her majesty says.
  764. >Once in. You see some delicate furniture. A sofa made of silk. A painting of Luna hanging above it.
  765. >There was also a handsome table in the middle. Surrounded by wood stools.
  766. >"So. What is it you wanted to talk about?"
  767. >"Very well, I would like it if your client could take look at this?"
  768. >Protagoras took a scroll that he was hiding underneath his clothes.
  769. >"It is a simple offer."
  770. >Twilight takes his papyrus as she approaches the table in the room.
  771. >You and the prosecutor near her.
  772. >Once set around her; both you wait for her response.
  773. >Twilight takes her time reading the contract.
  774. >"This is a terrible deal." Her highness exclaimed.
  775. >"I know."
  776. >"And yet you dragged us here for this?" Can't say she is happy about this.
  777. >And neither are you.
  778. "Then why did you want to talk to me?"
  779. >"I didn't." This old stallion.
  780. >"And if you could let me talk. I'll give you a good reason."
  781. "Forget it. You brought us here based on lies."
  782. >You glare at him, trying to shut down his response.
  783. >"I-I-I never. I mean." You successfully neutralized him.
  784. >"Anonymous. Stop it." Only to be reprimanded.
  785. "Twilight, don't you see it. This was a trick."
  786. >She keeps silent, then, turns to him.
  787. >"Speak. But if this is another insult..."
  788. >The lethargic lawyer gets the hint.
  789. >"Very well, I make no excuse of my previous behavior."
  790. >"That doesn't sound like an apology."
  791. >Obi-Wan bows once more.
  792. >"My apologizes, your highness... I also admit. That I can't find a better way to do so..."
  793. >He straightens himself.
  794. >"I found myself consumed by my instincts as a lawyer, and I forgot with who I was dealing with. My condolences..."
  795. >Her majesty doesn't buy it.
  796. >"...That doesn't change the fact that you brought us here with lies."
  797. >Gray uses his tender voice from before.
  798. >"Now now. I didn't bring anyone here with lies."
  799. "Which happens to be a lie on itself."
  800. >He peeks at you.
  801. >"Then I suppose that you were going to stand there; in the middle of the courtroom; until the trial started?"
  802. >This guy just keeps on poking you.
  803. >"No. Your guess is correct."
  804. >His smug smile just makes it worse.
  805. >"Then allow me to proceed."
  806. "What if I don't want to hear your propose."
  807. >"I'm fine with it. After all, it's her majesty's reputation that worries me. Not yours."
  808. >Your face when he just keeps on rustling.
  809. >"My reputation? What about it? I'll like to hear what you are about to say."
  810. "Twilight. It's obviously a trick."
  811. >"Although his assertions sound correct. I assure you that not the case."
  812. >Twilight wallows on her curiosity.
  813. >"Be short about it. I need time to prepare."
  814. >"Of course your majesty." He bows once more.
  815. >Stalin continues.
  816. >"Right into the point then. Princess. Have you wondered... the response from Canterlot's society if they found about your current position?"
  817. >"No in the slightest." She answers immediately. Mirroring his loftiness.
  818. >"That is rather worrisome." He speaks concerned.
  819. >You take it as another trap.
  820. "I thought you were going to the point."
  821. >"Tsk tsk tsk. If that's what you want." He gives you a peek full of disdain.
  822. >"Princess, think about the possible results. In the worst case scenario. You give this stallion full acquittal."
  823. >Say what?
  824. >"And how is that worst case?" She rises her eyebrow.
  825. >"Think about it. You were the one that brought him here, it was you that mobilized Canterlot with that letter, and if you find him innocent-"
  826. "Okay. That's good enough!"
  827. >You interrupt The Walking Dead. Unfortunately. Even with your gaze on him. He continues.
  828. >"Ha. I-I see. You're the puppet master here." He says shaking.
  829. >Her majesty is now being gnaw by the desire to know.
  830. >"Anonymous. Stop it. You're not helping your case."
  831. "And he is trying to put doubts in your mind." You keep your eyes on him.
  832. >"That's a nice way to say that you're censoring information." He still finds a way to speak, if barely.
  833. >"Both of you. Stop it." Your companion exclaims.
  834. >After some time. You stop glaring at him.
  835. >"Mister Grey. What will happen when I defeat you in court?"
  836. >Without skipping a beat. He responds.
  837. >"Your reputation will be ruined. You will be patronized just like Luna was."
  838. >Her eyes widen on that thought. Twilight swallows her spit, and then asks.
  839. >"How so?" She speaks with a fragile tone.
  840. >"Princess Twilight. Your inexperience is showing."
  841. >She eyes the stallion. Almost like if she wanted to shut him up.
  842. >"Don't you see it. The Aristocracy is afraid of him. He hurt Princess Luna. And if our theory is right. You. You are her next victim."
  843. "That's a nice way to say 'I love intimidating my competition'."
  844. >"That doesn't explain your insane assertions. Are you insinuating that my client is actively attacking me!"
  845. >"Not precisely, but if you allow this case to proceed. He will."
  846. "Twilight. He has no business being here. He just came here to play with your mind. He said so himself, he doesn't care about me signing that contract."
  847. >Your barrister finally agrees with you.
  848. >"Actually; you're right Anonymous. You have just went on circles."
  849. >She takes the contract, and gives it to him.
  850. >"We won't inquire on this any longer."
  851. >"As you say. I just hope that Celestia can withhold the cross fire."
  852. >How does he do it? How can he find a way to return into the conversation?
  853. >"What?" Twilight was boiling.
  854. >And the Red Baron barely winces.
  855. >"Yes, haven't you thought about her. You're like a daughter to her. If somepony finds you defending this stallion; an enemy of state none less; the disapproval will be overwhelming."
  856. >She gulps on this.
  857. >"She will have to bend backwards to control all the damage. And it's all because of him." He points at you.
  858. >"He has brought nothing but misery."
  859. >And that's it; with some restrain; you give him a piece of your mind.
  860. "And I'm sure that Celestia will have a field day with you. Intimidating your competition, slandering her own client, and guilt tripping me into signing a contract."
  861. >An icy atmosphere engulfs the room. Uninvited gales run into the stallion.
  862. >He stumbles backwards a bit. He is quivering.
  863. >Some cold sweat runs down his face. Yet; he's still smiling. Such arrogance...
  864. >Oh fuck this. You just made a fool of yourself.
  865. >"Tsk tsk tsk. Apparently you're well versed on scare tactics. If I may break down your sentence:
  866. >To start with: I'm not intimidating anyone; I'm offering advice on the young princess.
  867. >Second of all; nopony is slandering you; son. You're a danger. We all know it. And
  868. >lastly; I'm not blaming anyone here. It's just a reality. If she finds you innocent on all charges. She will forever be marked by a major blunder."
  869. >This guy. This fucking guy.
  870. >He may have been cracking all over his statement. But he finds a way to sound eloquent.
  871. >It doesn't help that he just tricked you with your short fuse.
  872. "You're playing a dangerous game here. Grey."
  873. >"In which sense?"
  874. "What stops us to tell Celestia about your little games."
  875. >"Games? That sounds like a way to demonized our conversation."
  876. >Twilight finally regains her ground. She speaks.
  877. >"Mister Grey... Why?"
  878. >Grandmaster Flash looks at her concerned.
  879. >"Why would an attorney; such as yourself; risk his career like this?" She says detached.
  880. >Too late now. The old fart hit her; hard.
  881. >He recaptures his pose.
  882. >"Because. I'm not playing any mind games on you."
  883. >Fucking bullshit.
  884. >"Princess. Disgracefully, you're just a barrister. You can't sign that contract for him. But you can convince him..."
  885. "You sidestepped my question Grey."
  886. >He turns to you. Mustering all the hubris he could find. He speaks.
  887. >"I don't care. I'm old and my carrier can't go anywhere. I'm on the top: Chief Prosecutor of the State of Canterlot. If I have to sacrifice everything to save the future of a Princess; so be it."
  888. >Oh; how tempting it is to just summon M00t and let it eat him.
  889. >"But then. Why would you give me such terrible deal? Why would you summon my friends here?"
  890. >Twilight spoke in monotone.
  891. >"I'm sorry your highness. But I just took this case like an hour ago. Believe me; the previous prosecutor; was an incompetent."
  892. >"...Can you offer a new deal?"
  893. >The shit.
  894. "Twilight! He is playing with you. Otherwise; why would Celestia hold this trial."
  895. >"Isn't it obvious." The goatee lawyer says.
  896. "No. Please clarify it."
  897. >"Our Princesses admire order. It's only civilized to upheld protocol. That's why."
  898. >You were about to counter-argument when your companion took over.
  899. >"Please. Make a new deal. And I'll think about it."
  900. >What. Wut. WUT!?
  901. "Twi-Twilight. You can't be seriously considering this!"
  902. >"...I am sorry Anonymous. But... I must meditate on this."
  903. >Quick. Think of something. ANYTHING!
  904. "Grey. All you have done is to give vague menaces. Tell me; what could possible happen if she defends me?"
  905. >Now you've got him. Let's see what he has to say.
  906. >"Tsk tsk tsk. You really don't know when to stop digging your own grave. Do you?"
  907. >His way of laughing crisps your nerves.
  908. >He waits for a reply. But you don't give it to him.
  909. >"As I suspected. Let me illuminate you. See; her majesty doesn't possess a kingdom of her own. She is new to the system; she hasn't been introduced to the Aristocracy; nor the Council. As Celestia's prodigy, she holds certain influence. So much that she became a barrister today. Still. She is of no concern to diplomacy, not yet. Now I invite you think about it. A young princess; who's only remarkable effort was when both Celestia and Luna disappeared; is found defending a criminal such as yourself. That on itself is a guaranteed scandal; now imagine that she gets a full acquittal. Added to the fact that it was her that brought you here. It's the perfect storm. In the best of cases; she'll be reduced to a 'trophy princess'. Just there to wave and smile..."
  910. >This faggot sure loves to listen to himself.
  911. >Still. Unlike last time. He sounds genuinely concerned about her.
  912. >"Now you understand? Now you can see how you can ruin her life?"
  913. >And back into the pit you go.
  914. >From her side. Twilight is immobilized.
  915. >Fuck you Grey.
  916. >"Very well. I'll be expecting you."
  917. >"Yes, your highness..."
  918. >Manfred Von Karma was dead serious now. Both his smugness and douchiness gone.
  919. >He begins to trot to the exit.
  920. >"Also... I'm sorry about my behavior. Sometimes, truth is bitter."
  921. >And so; he left. Victorious.
  922. >You look back to your companion. She was dishearten.
  923. >Goddammit this is the shittiest shit that has ever fucking shit.
  924. >She proceeds to look into the mosaic outside the lobby. Pondering on her future.
  925. >One thing is sure though.
  926. >If she won't write a letter about this guy. You're sure as hell that- Oh wait nigga. You can't into Equestrian.
  927. >Curse you Timber Grey. It's frustrating to see him walk away unpunished.
  928. >Without being aware of it. Purple Smart approaches the mosaic outside the lobby.
  929. >She sits in front of it. The crimson light cloaking her from the world.
  930. >Reflecting upon the chief's warnings. You can imagine her face; filled with subdued doubts.
  931. >He only had one aim. To attack her.
  932. >And he did so with such calculated strikes. Without fear of you or her.
  933. >With the perfect excuse; to "protect her". It leaves powerless to see her like this.
  934. >You observe some movement.
  935. >She marks her respiratory cycle. You can see it in full detail.
  936. >The anxiety casted upon her future erodes her will.
  937. >Your next move should be to comfort her. She's your barrister, after all.
  938. >Now to find an opening...
  939. >This is the wagon situation all over.
  940. >Maybe by apologizing again?
  941. >She cocks her head a bit. Given by the angle. She's probably stargazing.
  942. >Actually; forget about it.
  943. >She's in deep introspection. It will only be rude.
  944. >As much as it makes you feel impotent. This is something she has to do. Alone.
  945. "Twilight..."
  946. >Her ear twitches at sound of you voice.
  947. "You need anything, I'll be in the lobby..."
  948. >Beat.
  949. >"...Okay..." She says with detachment.
  950. >The indifference in her tone speaks volumes.
  951. >Distressed. You resume your sentence.
  952. "Perhaps I could provide advice..."
  953. >She takes her time to reply.
  954. >"...No. That's okay... You can wait in the lobby..."
  955. >Without any way to turn this into a conversation.
  956. >You wait inside the lobby.
  957. >Thinking about your next step. Let see...
  958. >Obviously she requires some reaffirmation. Problem is; she doesn't have a support right now.
  959. >In your wildest dreams. You concoction a plan where you are her pillar.
  960. >But this isn't a fantasy. She has her doubts about your innocence.
  961. >As always. The most desperate solutions are left as last resort.
  962. >Musing your next movements yields zero results.
  963. >You'll have to try your hardest to comfort her without spilling spaghetti.
  964. >Of course; if you have learnt anything today; is that Murphy hates you.
  965. >Assembling all your ideas. You reflect on them.
  966. >Looking for the best opening...
  967. >Taking the fault seems like the most appropriate. Since it grasps on her sympathy.
  968. >After all; she'll probably freak out if you mention her past experiences.
  969. >You sigh in contempt against that bastard, who just left untouched.
  970. >The thought that Twilight is mortified rubs you in the wrong way; too.
  971. >But now all you can do is keep planning...
  972. >And waiting...
  973. >You heard someone coming this way.
  974. >Twilight enters the room. Unexpectedly. She seems to have grown a fighting spirit.
  975. >She exudes determination, whatever her meditation did. She was born a new.
  976. >She exhales and trots to you. Once in front of you; she asks.
  977. >"Anonymous... What are you?"
  978. >A damn curve ball that is. You gulp before answering.
  979. "What is that suppose to mean?"
  980. >"Anonymous I need an answer."
  981. >She was devoid of anger, sadness, or anxiety. Just curiosity.
  982. "...Very well. But you need to be more specific."
  983. >"Where do you come from? Are you even from Equestria?"
  984. >Okay the fuck is up with her.
  985. "No; I'm not from Equestria..."
  986. >"Don't give me vague answers Anonymous." She says with a neutral tone.
  987. >Welp.
  988. "...As I've already said. This is not even my plane..."
  989. >Your barrister eyes you. Judging your reply.
  990. >"Very well. You told me that you remember what happened in the armory. Is your true nature related to it in any way?"
  991. "To be fair..."
  992. >Her eyes squint at you, waiting.
  993. "...you're correct."
  994. >You wait for another question. The suspense is killing you.
  995. "Twilight. Your silence worries me..."
  996. >Her majesty stood there motionless. She then inhales and exhales.
  997. >Fighting her inner demons.
  998. >"Anonymous..."
  999. "Yes?"
1000. >"I am no attorney; just a barrister. I can't sign a contract in your name. But..."
1001. >She takes a deep breath before continuing.
1002. >"Even then; I wouldn't sign anything without telling you... Anonymous. I need to know: The truth."
  1003. >...
1004. "As you wish, your highness..."
1005. >That was an accident. Thankfully; she doesn't seem to mind.
1006. >You turn and give her a side view.
1007. "Remember my cutie mark? As it turns out. It has a vile meaning behind it."
  1008. >Her interest intensifies.
1009. >"How so? What could possibly be worse than 'dark magic' as special talent?"
1010. >Oh but it is Twilight.
1011. "Kay. It represents a 'pact' with an eldritch God..."
  1012. >"And what's her name?"
1013. "Actually, it's an IT, not a SHE...
  1014. Its name is M00t."
1015. >The murmurs from the beyond begin to whisper. Sadly.
1016. >They can only be heard inside your skull.
1017. >"That is an unusual name... Moot huh?"
1018. >She thinks her next question.
  1019. >"Could I talk to it?"
1020. >By the God almighty. Never.
  1021. "What?! No, that's a terrible idea."
  1022. >She doesn't like your answer.
1023. >"Oh then tell me how can I trust you?"
1024. "The same way I trust you."
  1025. >Right on the nail's head.
1026. >Her majesty is flattered, but confused.
1027. >"And why would you trust me? We barely know each other?"
1028. >Well that's is not one hundred percent true.
  1029. >How to say this?
1030. "Huh. Well, jeez. I dunno... Maybe because you offered your services in exchange for nothing. Also, even after the chief's visit. You're still thinking about defending me..."
  1031. >She kept silent.
1032. "Or maybe not. Still, at least I know I can rely on your competence..."
1033. >She rubs her chin, still skeptical. You revert to your original position.
1034. >Now you're face to face. She stops rubbing and asks.
1035. >"Anonymous. Tell me, are you innocent."
  1036. "Of course I'm!"
1037. >"No Anonymous. Look at me in the eyes and tell me. Are you innocent?"
1038. >You gotta admit. She's taking this somewhat personal.
  1039. >You fulfill her request.
1040. "I never choose any of this... I'm innocent Twilight..."
  1041. >She isn't satisfied, yet.
1042. >"Anonymous. About the incident at the armory. What happened? Keep in mind that I already talked to Luna."
1043. >It's not like you were gonna bullshit her.
1044. >Kay maybe a bit. But anyway. Here it goes: All or nothing.
1045. "I'll tell you the truth. But first I really must know... Do YOU think I'm innocent?"
1046. >"Anonymous answer my question first." She says coldly.
1047. "First tell me if it makes a difference. If you don't believe me; then. What's the purpose?"
1048. >Her highness keeps silence. Then she takes a deep breath.
1049. >"...That is what I would like to know."
1050. "In other words. You don't." You say; saddened by the fact that she doesn't trust you.
  1051. >"It is not that I don't. I am conflicted Anonymous."
  1052. >She exhales anxiously.
1053. >"Look. If what Princess Luna told me is right. Then you have nothing to worry about."
1054. >She closes her eyes in frustration.
1055. >"Just-Just tell me already Anon..."
1056. "...Alright. I don't know how to explain this so I'll just say it."
1057. >You roundup your gut before speaking.
1058. "Remember M00t? Well; when princess Luna entered my mind, I guided her. We spent some time together, and once we've reach a certain part of my mind... M00t assaulted us. I suspect that he knocked everyone cold to 'protect me'. And that's what went wrong..."
  1059. >The alicorn digests this.
  1060. >"And what else?"
1061. "Well. Apparently he stopped 'watching over me' temporarily. That's how I lost my presence."
1062. >"Speaking of which. Why did you cast it back? It is very unpractical to do so inside a well guarded area. Where there is no immediate danger."
1063. "As I've already said. It 'watches'. I dunno why it returned, but I know it wasn't my choice."
1064. >Twilight analyzes every bit data that came out of your mouth.
1065. >"Anything else you would like to add?"
  1066. "Like for example?"
1067. >"What I'll like to know is. Why?"
1068. >You give her a gaze filled with surprise.
1069. >"Why are you still here? Why haven't you just escaped? What stops you?"
1070. >You rub your chin with one of your hooves. Pretending to think.
1071. >You clean your throat and answer her.
1072. "Because. I know that it's stupid to go around antagonizing everyone. You win nothing but enemies; besides; I have faith in the Princesses..."
1073. >Twilight hides her shock behind stoic features.
1074. >The micro expressions surrounding her face betray her; if momentarily.
1075. "...and that includes you; Twilight."
1076. >Your barrister swallows; without taking her gaze from you.
1077. >"So... You've been open with me all this time?" She asks with extreme solace.
1078. "Ever since the wagon fiasco, yes."
1079. >She bobs her head ever so slightly.
1080. >She takes another breath. She starts to rub her chin again.
1081. >You wait for her questions.
1082. >But they don't come. You take this change.
1083. "Twilight; I've been meaning to ask."
1084. >She takes a glance at you, without stopping her pondering.
1085. "If what Grey said is true then. Why are you still here?"
1086. >She stops her activities and faces you.
1087. >"Well, I am you barrister, a legal counselor. I also promised Princess Celestia to oversee the defense's position and I am also the only legal entity assuming such position."
1088. >That sounds good and all. But.
1089. >You can't shake the feeling that there is something more.
1090. >Something underlying all these reasons.
1091. "Well I guess all those are good reasons but... Twilight. You're not telling me the whole truth."
1092. >"Is that so?" She says without a hint of emotion.
1093. "Yes. I also find it interesting that all your questions are set around me."
1094. >"I don't find anything strange on that."
1095. "Well you should, see. If you were petrified by Grey's prophecies; then you wouldn't dream to continue this case."
1096. >She stays static. Without anything to add.
1097. "I think that you're not very scared."
1098. >"That's because I am not. Why should I fear anypony?"
1099. "See, there you go. If the words of Grey don't intimidate you then. What does?"
1100. >She can't be bothered to give you a reaction.
  1101. >"Of course they do."
1102. >She signs, the feeling of terror deeply engraved in her being.
1103. >"What does tell you otherwise?"
1104. "Well I suppose you're right; but that's not what bothers you."
1105. >You give her some breathing time.
1106. "After all, you still have your friends and the Princesses. Sure; they could create mischief. But they'll probably back down after the next big villain comes to town and gets demolished by you and your friends."
1107. >"...So you know about our adventures?" She says passionlessly.
1108. "Indeed; and I find it hard to believe that some meddling white wigs would matter much to you."
  1109. >She doesn't responds.
1110. "Also; no matter what they say. You're a Princess, no matter how much others may dislike it..."
1111. >"...I see. But as eloquent as that may sound; you are just sidestepping now."
  1112. >That took by surprise.
1113. >She rises her hoof and lazily points it at you.
1114. >"If you are so sure Anonymous; then tell me; what is in my mind?" She waggles her hoof.
1115. >She sets her hoof down.
1116. >Good one. You can't say what exactly bothers her.
1117. >So might as well follow your gut and say something a bit crazy.
1118. "I think that what mainly worries you is... me."
  1119. >She flinches, if barely.
1120. >"Well it makes sense. You are my client after all."
1121. "And the funny thing is. You're doing this for free."
  1122. >She gives you a sully stare.
1123. >"What are you implying Anonymous?"
1124. >To be expected. But it's not like you didn't predict it.
1125. "What I'm implying is that you don't have to be here. No one is forcing you to take this position; in fact. Grey just gave you powerful reasons to drop the case. He's Chief Prosecutor so he can probably ask Celestia directly to remove you; then; she'll ask you if you want to. After all; I assume it was her that assigned you my case..."
1126. >She keeps her mouth tight. Not letting a sound out.
1127. >"...Anonymous. Your arguments are nonsense."
1128. "Perhaps. But there is one thing you can't deny. You're indecisive whenever to drop this case or not."
1129. >"And what leads you to that belief?"
1130. >Actually; the more you think about it. The more your garble seems to be shaping into a real argument.
1131. "Well; we've spent most our time discussing about my innocence. If you've already hear Luna's version. Then you'll know I'm being honest."
  1132. >"..."
  1133. "...Unless you haven't."
  1134. >She gulps.
1135. >"And what gave me away?"
1136. >Would you look at that. Seems like she mistook that as a dramatic pause.
  1137. "You. Some seconds ago."
1138. >She blushes lightly. She was caught by surprise.
1139. >Finally; after so many questions. Her highness makes an expression.
1140. "Interesting. So if you haven't spoke to Luna. Then how come you don't doubt me?"
1141. >"...I don't know. My instincts tell me so."
1142. >She was back to her stoic self.
1143. >So in a nutshell. Your barrister is worried about her future. But that's not her main distress.
  1144. >Hmm. Could it be?
1145. "Okay Twilight; I'll take a wild guess and say that you're judging my temperament... again."
  1146. >She keeps her cool.
1147. "But then the question becomes. Why?"
1148. >"Your speculations seem to be rather self serving. So I'll ask one last time. Let's say that you're correct and you are what I am currently thinking about. Tell me then. What purpose did my questions serve?"
1149. >Let see. If they were about recollecting data, then...
1150. "Obviously as a test of character. The funny thing is. I find it weird that you jumped into the conclusion that I was truthful without knowing Luna's side, so I suppose that your problem is not whenever you believe me or not. But rather; whenever sticking your neck for a random stallion is worth it... Ain't it the truth?"
1151. >Her face when she was astonished by your reply.
  1152. >"Actually. I don't know what to think."
  1153. >Interesting.
1154. >"You're right about something. I was fishing for replies but... I am conflicted about you telling the truth."
1155. >Well you be damned. Turns out that bluffing is one of your talents.
1156. "I see... So you have no intentions of dropping the case. I suppose you'll like some evidence then?"
1157. >"Yes. I need proof that you are not lying."
1158. "Please tell me it doesn't involve M00t..."
  1159. >She gives you a sly smile.
  1160. >"It does."
  1161. >Well shit. Now what?
1162. "...It would be irresponsible from me to accept your request."
1163. >"Anonymous... I must admit. You impress me." She says with a smile on her face.
  1164. "..."
1165. >"Still, this is the last stretch. I need evidence that this Moot exists..."
  1166. >Motherfucker.
1167. "I suppose I could speak in its tongue..."
  1168. >"Yes please."
  1169. >You breath in and-
1170. "On second thought. Do you really need this, I mean if this isn't fully-"
  1171. >"Anonymous." She's full with determination.
1172. "No seriously Twi. This is a terrible idea."
1173. >"Wait. Didn't you say that this 'God' protects you?"
  1174. "Yes."
1175. >"Well just tell it to not hurt anypony. I am sure it will understand."
  1176. >Oh so naive.
1177. >"What could possible go wrong?"
  1178. >Immortal words right there.
1179. "I'll be honest. Now that you said those words... I won't do it."
  1180. >Her majesty felt offended.
  1181. >"What?! Why?"
1182. "Because this day has been an accident after another. I'll rather learn from my mistakes..."
  1183. >She contemplates this.
1184. >"Fine. Just whisper something that Moot would say. A random sentence should do."
  1185. >Sounds reasonable... so no.
1186. "Forget it Twi. If I learned anything is to not mess with Lovecraft, that's too spooky for you."
1187. >You said without ANY intention to back off.
  1188. >"Anon. Please!"
  1189. >Oh now she's begging.
1190. "No Twilight. This is too dangerous."
1191. >Of course, the alicorn is well known for never giving up her curiosity.
1192. >"Okay. How about this. I encapsulate both of us in a magical shield?"
  1193. >That... sounds tempting.
1194. "And what makes it so enticing?"
1195. >She gives you a smile full of glee.
1196. >"See. The shield will be useful at absorbing any magical aura. So; Moot's magic won't affect anyone outside it." She concludes with a winning smile.
1197. >You gotta admit. She just made a complete one hundred and eighty turn.
1198. "...You sure this will work."
1199. >"Yep." She nods in delight.
1200. "On ANY kind of magic."
  1201. >"I guarantee it."
1202. "And this is the only way?"
  1203. >"Correct."
1204. "And nothing that I say will convince you otherwise."
  1205. >"No."
  1206. "But is it-"
1207. >Okay this is going nowhere." Twilight's horn glows as she speaks.
1208. >Before you know it. You're inside the same bubble as from the "hospital".
1209. >"This should be a good area." She covers most of the room.
  1210. >You take a small breath.
1211. "You really want to hear it... don't you..."
  1212. >She nods at you.
1213. >Well fuck. You'll regret this... and so will she.
1214. >Biting your lower lip. You try to recall some of M00t's words.
1215. >Once you remember one with a good length. You prepare yourself mentally.
1216. >Hoping that randomly speaking contextless sentences won't bring you bad luck...
1217. >Please M00t; don't let this bite you in the ass.
  1218. >You announce the supernatural.
  1219. "s'uhn syha'h hafh'drn h-athg"
1220. >You spoke in husky tone. Comparable to the voice of Legion.
1221. >Your Lovecraftian talk hits Twilight immediately.
1222. >She found herself assailed by visceral visions.
1223. >She leaped backwards without thinking. The chills running down her neck forced her to.
1224. >The power of the underworld had come to you. Overtaking the lobby with soft and virulent moans.
1225. >Her majesty is overtaken by a sensation of dread.
1226. >She begins to pant for no good reason.
1227. >Once the word of the devil has been spoken. You look for her highness.
1228. >She was holding it together. Albeit barely.
1229. >You approach her, slowly, glacially.
1230. >Once she returns to herself. She sees you closing to her.
1231. >"Okay. You were right. That is not something to play with."
1232. >You smirk to her. She snorts back.
1233. >She begins to appreciate the susurrus in the room.
1234. >"Tell me... How do you do this?"
  1235. "Mhmm."
1236. >She turns her head to you.
1237. >"Anonymous. How do you know this spell? ...Actually, scratch that, I wouldn't call this a spell."
1238. "Huh. What do you mean. Isn't this magic?"
1239. >"Well..." She rubs her chin once more.
1240. >"I don't know how to explain it. It just... doesn't 'feel' right."
1241. >My. Another mystery to add to the pile.
1242. >"Anyway. Thanks for showing me."
1243. >Twilight commands the shield to shrink. As it does, it lets you and Twi to cross its barriers.
1244. >The bubble focuses into a small ball. And then it disappears in a blink.
1245. >Twilight stretches her ears. Searching for whispers.
1246. >"I can't hear any whispering... But I still feel chilly..."
1247. "And let it be a lesson." You scold her.
1248. "Was this necessary in the first place?"
1249. >"No very." She says mischievously.
1250. "What did you just said?" You restrain yourself from spouting the full pasta.
1251. >"I was curious about your magic, that is all."
  1252. >You groan at her.
1253. >"But you were right Anon."
  1254. "Of what?"
1255. >"About the chief's warnings. They do scare; but..." she swallows a lump in her throat.
1256. >"When I ponder about his words. They do terrorize me... But there is something more frightful than his omens..."
  1257. "And that is?"
1258. >She turns at you. With a honest expression.
1259. >"The thought that I ruined somepony's live with my rashness."
1260. >Go figure. She just dropped a bomb on you.
  1261. "Twilight... I..."
1262. >"No need to say anything Anon. It should be me who apologizes."
1263. >You're pierced by the words of Lavender Horse.
  1264. "I... I..." You're dead lock on a loop. You can't think anything now.
1265. >"Uh. It is okay Anon. You can stop now..."
1266. >You decide to take her advice.
1267. >Tonight is turning to be a good night.
1268. >Her highness starts to trot to the table in the room.
1269. >"Anyway, although I do feel thankful for giving me some insight on the events that transpired at the armory..."
1270. >With her magic; she gets her quill and a notebook out.
1271. >"I have to admit. I do not feel as confident about our victory now." She speaks with uneasiness.
1272. >Still speechless; you let her continue while you collect yourself.
1273. >"Anon... It is hard for me to say but... do you promise to take a look at Grey's deal once he comes back?"
1274. >That... doesn't sound right. It doesn't sound right at all.
1275. "But why? Didn't you just said-" She cuts your sentence.
1276. >"Anon; believe me; I will help on this no matter what. The issue is that... well, I am just a rookie-a barrister rookie."
1277. >Well; you got her out of her funk only for her to land on blues.
1278. "Yes, you're right. But let's face it, it's either you or nothing. And I'll rather take your help than defend myself."
  1279. >She nods at you.
1280. >"Point taken, in that case, come here." She gestures you to approach her.
1281. >"We have a lot to discuss here."
1282. >You obey her majesty. Once you near her and take a seat, she begins to talk.
1283. >"Very well; first the first; obviously you are guilty of assault." She says with a grimace.
  1284. "...Yes."
1285. >"This is where the situation gets tricky. If the prosecution proves this, Grey will be one huge step closer to convincing the court to give you the 'enemy of the state' title."
1286. >You exhale on this thought. This will be a major headache.
1287. >"The good news is that so far the only evidence confirming this is your own testimony."
1288. "And is there any way that he can prove this with his evidence?"
1289. >"I doubt it, but now that I am aware of this, I can start to think of ways to counterattack."
  1290. >Curious.
  1291. "And that will be...?"
1292. >"...Good question. I am not sure yet but I will find something." The honesty on her answer doesn't comfort you.
1293. "In that case, what do you know? What do we expect from him?" You offer to help her lawsuit.
1294. >She bites her lip before replying.
1295. >"Not much, as you heard him before, I have spent too much time looking for ways to exclude my friends' testimonies..."
1296. "Well then tell, no need to hide it from me."
  1297. >"Very well..."
1298. >She shoves her notebook on your snout. You pick it with your hooves.
1299. >"As you can see, the plan is to summon your rights as a detainee, if I can convince them that what took place on the wagon was an interrogation. Then we can exclude the events in the wagon from court."
1300. >Miranda Rights eh? Interesting strategy.
  1301. >"So?"
  1302. "Huh?"
1303. >"Do you see any miscalculations in my plan?" She peaks above the notebook.
1304. "Actually... gee..." Speak now or lay in silence forever.
1305. >"Yes Anon? Any issues?" She asks a bit worried.
1306. >You swallow the knob in your throat before answering.
1307. "...I am an illiterate." You throw a small giggle to end your sentence.
1308. >Princess Book gasps mouth agape at this revelation.
1309. >She moist her lips before brutally asking.
1310. >"Do you suffer of some kind of disease?"
  1311. >Rude.
1312. "That was not necessary." You put the notebook on the table.
1313. >She gives you an expression filled with disappointment.
1314. >"I am sorry but you are the most peculiar stallion I have met. And not in a good way."
1315. "You mean not being able to read or do magic?"
  1316. >She nods nervously.
1317. "Welp... You will be right then..."
1318. >"Doesn't matter, here is my plan. If I can correctly make a pretrial motion-"
1319. "Actually, what exactly hurts us? What could they say?" You interrupt hoping to get things into perspective.
1320. >"With this we can shut down a heavy portion of the conspiracy theory. No statements about you spying on us will be said."
1321. >Thinking back to the wagon, you did lie and told some unbelievable truths.
1322. "I see... I suppose that does cut down a big chunk..."
1323. >"Not only that, if they get excluded, they will not be able to speak about us mistakenly taking you as Sombra."
  1324. >Not bad.jpg.
1325. "Taking the garbage out, I like it. Anything else you've got?"
  1326. >"Like for example?"
1327. "Witnesses, physical evidence, documents, anything that tells us what Grey has stored for us."
1328. >She cleans her throat and speaks.
1329. >"Actually, he has two expert witnesses."
  1330. >Oh boy, experts.
1331. "In what?" Getting more curious and curious.
1332. >"Exactly my question. I only know their names: Inquiry Note and Mrs. Sprocket."
1333. >Now that name rings a few bells...
  1334. "I know that name!"
1335. >In desperate need of ammunition, she asks immediately.
1336. >"Who? And what is their field? Tell me everything Anonymous!"
1337. "Whoa, chill down a bit."
1338. >"Anonymous! This is your life in the line!"
1339. "Yeah I know but being rash and hot blooded won't do us any good. So please."
1340. >Taking your advice, she calms down a bit.
1341. >"Could you tell me who is it that you know?" She asks a bit more slowly.
1342. "Mrs. Sprocket, she was the mare that calibrated the machine."
1343. >You barrister swallows your comment.
1344. >"...I see, so her specialty is machinery?" She cocks her head to the side.
1345. "I suppose, given how her cutie mark were three cogs..."
1346. >Her majesty bobs her head, almost like following a rhythm.
  1347. >"I see..."
1348. >You expect her to reply, but she doesn't.
  1349. "You've got nothing."
1350. >"Nothing, nothing at all." She's almost a nervous mess.
1351. >Confronting an expert is gnawing her badly.
1352. "Look Twilight, there is no point on dabbling on the unknown. Focus on what we have here."
1353. >Shaking a bit, she agrees with you.
1354. >"Yes. Yes you are right, I need to calm down. Anxiety produces panic, confusion, dizziness, nausea and/or difficulty breathing. These factors can affect decision making and..."
1355. >You let the mare to soothe herself in her particular way.
1356. >Thinking about it, she seems to be taking it rather lightly that you are guilty of some charges.
1357. >Maybe you should ask her about this?
1358. >...So now to find the kind of anxiety I suffer will help on soothing. Considering how this is a new situation I am..."
1359. >That only incites a bad end... But why aren't you scared?
1360. >Thinking about it, you knew the difference about a barrister and a lawyer.
1361. >Could it be that you were a lawyer? Or you just know some legal terms and that's it?
1362. >The memory blank put by M00t and his companions blocks your memories.
1363. >Indulging in a pensive mood, you think about your family... or try to.
1364. >Funny how the lock seems to be selective and not universal...
1365. >"...treatment options in this case are unnecessary for the previous reason." Her majesty sighs in relief.
1366. >Then, the alicorn catches you musing about unknown inquiries.
1367. >"...Is anything on your mind Anon?"
  1368. >You peek at her.
1369. "No, not much... just wondering why aren't you upset when I'm guilty of one charge?"
1370. >"Oh that? No need to worry Anon, you said it was an accident, right?" She is being rather lax about it.
1371. "Well... yeah. In a sense, I couldn't control it."
1372. >"Sometimes, you cannot control your magic, it happens." She gives you a tender smile.
1373. >You blink quickly at her.
  1374. "I suppose you'll be right..."
1375. >Your vision wanders from her to the notebook.
1376. "Anyway, why would you want my opinion on this?" You point a hoof to the notebook.
1377. >"Well, you seemed rather eloquent on this. I hoped you could help but..."
1378. >Yeah, bad luck on that one.
  1379. "Anything else we've got?"
1380. >She deploys her right wings to rub her chin.
1381. >"Well, we have Princess Luna on our side. She will come to testify."
  1382. >Huh?
1383. "And you didn't mentioned this before because?!"
  1384. >"Well..." She giggles.
1385. >You keep your eyes on her, still waiting for an answer.
1386. >"To be fair, I haven't talked to her much. Being the victim and the only witness that is awake, she will probably come here."
1387. >Never figured she will take the witness stand.
1388. "Wait, you haven't talk to her, correct?"
1389. >She gives you an awkward smile. Implying a "no."
1390. "Twilight, tell me. Have you ask the court to provide you with info regarding the prosecution's case?"
  1391. >"Yes." She says flatly.
  1392. "And?"
1393. >"...They gave me nothing." She answers with some mild aghast.
1394. "Well this case is a mess." You speak your mind. Disappointed on the Equestrian system.
1395. >"What do you mean Anon?" Her majesty asks timidly.
1396. "Frankly, if what you tell me is truth, everything. How is it possible that they give such sensitive case to you, and not provide you with anything regarding the prosecution's allegations?"
1397. >You give a sneer expression to Twilight. Then, you sigh in discontent.
  1398. "It's just... unbelievable."
1399. >Case brought to court in less than twenty four hours. Scarce evidence. Scarce witnesses. Rookie defense versus senior prosecution.
  1400. >...sounds way too familiar.
1401. >"Well. If it serves any comfort. It seems like you are quite knowledgeable about lawsuits, perhaps you would like to self-represent?"
1402. >The alicorn asked in an indifferent tone.
1403. "Why would I do that?"
1404. >"Well, I being new to this. Maybe I would do more damage than help." She speaks in a restrained tone.
1405. "No, you're better informed than I am. Besides, the issue is that we're in a pickle here."
1406. >She thinks momentarily before speaking up.
1407. >"Agreed, there is a severe lack of information."
  1408. >You sigh once more.
1409. "Yup, I think this is as far as planning will go. Since the court is such a mess that it can't give you anything other than names..."
1410. >Her majesty's face is showing her anxiety.
1411. "Twilight you made a list. Didn't you?"
  1412. >"Yes."
1413. >It seems like the old Twi still lives despise those wings.
1414. "Let me guess, not all the boxes are checked."
  1415. >"...Indeed." She levitates a scroll.
1416. >She opens it shoves in to you.
1417. >"As you can see some are unchecked, those are the most critical. Like, decisive evidence, or cross examination questions are blank."
1418. >No cross examination questions? Ouch.
1419. >She takes her list back.
1420. >Before she could continue a knocking interrupted her.
  1421. "That must be Grey."
1422. >"Come in." Your barrister announces.
1423. >The door opens with a loud creak.
1424. >"I apologize if I took too long, your majesty."
1425. >As you thought, it was the Greek philosopher in the flesh.
1426. >"I see that you brought a papyrus, is it the new contract?"
1427. >"Indeed your majesty."Imhotep is carrying the contract on a saddle. Its head rearing out of it.
1428. >"Please give it to me. I'll read it for client."
1429. >Agapus approaches the two of you.
1430. >"I would like to say that convincing the Council to be this kind was not an easy feat."
  1431. >"Is that so?"
1432. >"Quite so." Her majesty takes the contract with her magic.
1433. >Your barrister begins reading the document.
1434. >From his end, Bing Crosby keeps a stare at you, being as polite as you are, you return it with pleasure.
1435. >"The defendant agrees to surrender to all charges, his punishment, to serve excommunication from Equestrian soil for a period of- ONE HUNDRED YEARS!!"
  1436. "What?!"
1437. >That is some bullshit deal.
1438. "And you call that a fair deal!"
  1439. >"I never said that."
1440. "I deserve a fair trial with fair procedures, that is ridiculous!" You raise your voice against the wet bag.
1441. >"Still better than the last one." Unfortunately; Charles is unmoved.
1442. >Seriously, what is up with this guy?
1443. >"He is right though. The last contract basically threw you to Tartarus with no appeal or rights for eternity."
1444. >This is what happens when you fuck with the royalty. Don't do it!
1445. >"If I may share my opinion, this is a great deal."
1446. "This is the worst deal I've heard! Banned from Equestria for a century! Do you suffer from Alzheimer or something?!"
1447. >The geriatric stallion looks at you confused.
  1448. >"Who is Alzheimer?"
  1449. >Oh yeah, that's a human name for a disease.
1450. "Actually it doesn't matter. This contract is garbage and I ain't signing it." You feel insulted by this 'deal.'
1451. >"Be as you wish; your choice is meaningless me. I only revised it under request of her majesty. That's all."
1452. >His snobbiness is getting to a critical mass.
1453. >You don't know how much you can hold the desire to summon M00t so it can eat him.
1454. >"So, according to this. Will he be treated as a normal pony once the ban is served?"
1455. >Why are you even considering this Twi?
  1456. >"Correct."
1457. "Wait, can't anyone see how ludicrous is the one century ban! By the time it gets lift I'll be gone already."
1458. >Twilight seems to be indulged in the contract. Not really paying attention.
1459. >"Can't you just use your evil power to stay alive?" Grey asks shamelessly.
1460. "Of course not. And even then, that contract is terrible."
1461. >"Be as you say, this is as good as it will get."
1462. >Before you could keep on replying her majesty makes you one final question.
1463. >"So Anonymous, is that your final say?"
1464. >"I'm fine with whatever this criminal chooses."
1465. >Nobody asked for your opinion.
  1466. "Actually..."
1467. >You take a hard look to Twilight.
1468. "Okay I'll ask you, is this worth signing?"
1469. >Her face when she sincerely doesn't know what to say.
1470. >"May I ask, why do you drag her to this? Why are so vent in tarnishing her?"
  1471. >Fuck off Grey.
1472. >Conflicted between her skill as a barrister and regret, she stays mute.
1473. >"Ha, seems like she caught up with your tricks?" His petty interruptions are starting to get annoying.
1474. >"Just promise not to hate me..."
  1475. "Huh?"
1476. >"...I'll try my best to defend. Maybe I can make this happen, if you want that is."
1477. >That is some serious feel.
1478. >Meanwhile, the old stallion is trying to dig holes on you with his eyes.
1479. "So; you think we have a shot here?"
  1480. >"...Yes."
1481. >Well there it is. Not like you were gonna sign it.
1482. >No matter how you see it, that deal throws the happiness of being in Equestria down the shittier.
  1483. "Then I suppose I won't take a look at this."
1484. >"My client has spoken. We won't take your deal."
1485. >The old goose just inhales deeply, apathic to your decision.
1486. >"Very well, I'll see you in court." He throws one last haughty stare at you.
1487. >The alicorn gives the papyrus back to Grey.
1488. >"Don't expect me to go easy on you; I'll make sure you get rightful punishment for dragging the princess with you."
1489. >You lock views with Grey. His tired eyes reflecting restrain.
  1490. "And we'll be there."
1491. >Twilight returns the paper to the chief prosecutor.
1492. >He snorts at you, you return the favor.
1493. >"Also, the trial is in fifteen minutes, just so you know..."
1494. >And with that, he left. Bitter. The door closes behind him.
1495. >A considerable silence consumes the room.
  1496. >"S-So Anon..."
1497. >You turn to the shaking horse.
1498. >"T-This is it. The end of the line. So I have to ask. Any tips you may want to share?"
1499. >Is she anxious because she is gonna perform in front of Celestia or because she is unprepared?
1500. >Can't really tell which unnerves her the most.
1501. "Well... I suppose..." Trying to think here.
1502. "We're dealing with expert testimonies. So I suppose don't let your curiosity get you, you want to be short and concise."
1503. >"Short, concise. Got it." She is nodding nervously.
1504. >She gets all her stuff ready, she stores the notebook on her saddle.
  1505. >"...Time to go now."
1506. >You agree with her and start to trot along her.
1507. >The end is nigh. Can't believe it has been less than a day and all this shit happened.
  1508. >"Anon..." She speaks timidly.
1509. >"Just want to let you know, I never meant to ruin your life."
1510. "You say it like we lost the case already..."
1511. >She just glances to the side and opens the door.
1512. >The two of you are moving to the courtroom now.
1513. >Right now in front of the door leading to the Sun Court.
  1514. >It is happening!!
1515. >"Hold it right there." One of guards in front of the of the door speaks to you.
  1516. "Uh, yes?"
1517. >"I have been informed that you can't present yourself to court on such state."
  1518. >The hell?
1519. "What? What do you mean?"
1520. >"Due to your magical presence, we were instructed to give you this." His companion offers you one big blanket.
1521. "Oh no not this again. Why?"
1522. >"Orders from the Sun Court. Otherwise you will intimidate the witnesses."
  1523. >Goddamn this stupid shit. Fucking M00t.
  1524. "Fine I'll do it."
1525. >You proceed to apply the all-covering clothes, again.
1526. >As you do so you inspect her highness. Still looking restless.
1527. >And is all up to her now.
1528. >You finish dressing up, it is time to face the legal system.
1529. >From here on, everything rests on your shoulders, Twilight...
