- Set after the events in <a href=">Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991), Sarah Connor and her son, John, try to stay under-the-radar from the government, as they plot to destroy the computer network, Skynet, in hopes of preventing Armageddon.
- This series is set after the events of <a href=">Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991). After the sacrifices of Dr. Miles Dyson and T-800 Model 101 Terminator, the Connors find themselves once again being stalked by Skynet's agents from the future. Realizing their nightmare isn't over, they decide to stop running and focus on preventing the birth of Skynet. With the aid of Cameron Phillips, a beautiful girl who has a mysterious past also linked to the future; Derek Reese, a Tech-Com soldier from the future whose past is linked with the Connors; Riley, a beautiful schoolfriend of John; and FBI Agent James Ellison, who was assigned to capture the Connors but joins them after his own encounter with one of the machines. They begin a quest to stop the United States military and a shadowy conspiracy from the future from creating the program that will stop at nothing to bring humanity to an end.
- This show has taken some weird turns but overall is still one of the better sci-fi shows on prime time. When I heard this show was danger of being canceled I almost flipped. They are going to far with the canceling. Just because a show doesn't rate in the ever changing top 5 doesn't mean it's not a hit with the fans. I do enjoy Camerons strange terminator antics and John I-am-tired-of-trying-to-be-a-future-hero attitude. Sarah holds this all together with her stubbornness and relentless pursuit of trying to stop judgment day. Now it does get a little to unbelievable with Sarah's flashbacks and delusions of Kyle. Also the fact that there is a little bit of sexual attraction implied at John with Cameron is strange. But none the less a great show.
- This is inarguably one of the best shows on television. Coming into the series you expect it to embody the same mindless and inexorable violence which has come to be the hallmark of the Terminator franchise. Yet James Cameron had created complex and memorable characters in an original storyline that marked the first two films as a couple of the best in recent history. Cameron-less Terminator 3 took a departure from this. It added more violence, eliminated Sarah Connor, and wrote its remaining character's destinies. The first episode of the Sarah Connor Chronicles is not its best. The pilot is charged with being another Terminator 2 so that the series makes sense to those missing out on the first two movies, and it has trouble doing this. But beyond these first 43 minutes is a series magnificent in its complexity. Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles follows closely the structure of Terminator 2: Judgment Day which remains the best movie of the franchise. The series, like the second movie and to a lesser extent the first incorporates an almost Shakespearean examination of identity and fate vs. character. The series goes so far as to question the idea of humanity itself. What defines humanity? Is it the ability to love (which Arnold's Terminator seemed to develop in Terminator 2), is it the capacity to create art (which Glau's Terminator seems to develop in this series), or is it simply the voracious ingenuity which leads to the creation of Skynet in the first place? The Sarah Connor Chronicles follows the cannon of the first two Terminator films religiously and is everything the third film wasn't. Characters from the first two films frequent the series, events from these films are constantly referenced, and the rules of the Terminator universe are strictly adhered to. The series is smart, complex, inventive, and is successful in toning down the violence in favor of a more poignant and emotionally effective storyline.
