Darkness. That's all that was visible.

Then, light. Light poured into the pod as the lid depressurized.

"Greetings, Unit F-90."

F-90 was the marine designation of the man inside the pod. He looked around the room he was in. A stark, white storage area, not unlike the one he had seen before his previous stasis period. Then his eyes darted to the source of the voice he had just heard. A screen displaying a name readout and audio waves.

Dr. Samuel Hayden.

That's what the screen read.

"I am Doctor Samuel Hayden, director of the UAC facility on Mars and your commanding officer for the time being." Hayden continued.

Mars. That's where F-90's stasis pod was transported to.

"You may be wondering why you are here. My team of scientists have awakened you from stasis because we believe you are the only one capable of handling this mission. As of yesterday, a demonic presence has taken over the facility. We're sending you to Mars to investigate the cause of this situation and put a stop to it. Good luck, marine."

The screen turned off as F-90's eyes crept behind it. There was his marine suit, issued to all UAC marine units. Slipping on the various parts of it, he finally put on the helmet and activated the boot up sequence. On the suit's right thigh was a holster with an energy pistol inside. Readying the pistol, F-90 trekked out of the room and into the rest of the facility. As he exited, he heard strange roars and howls in the distance.

F-90 cautiously trudged throughout the facility, his eyes darting left and right on the lookout for demons. He eventually came across a figure moving in the distance. A survivor, perhaps? F-90 sprinted towards it and noticed something about the figure.

It wasn't human. At least, it wasn't human anymore.

Whatever happened to this poor soul has corrupted it into some kind of 'zombie'. The humanoid was ripping up a corpse on the ground and shoving chunks of flesh into its mouth. It stopped for a moment, having noticed F-90's presence before turning to look at him.

F-90 had no hesitation. He aimed his energy pistol and filled the humanoid's head with a few plasma shots.

F-90 continued his journey through the facility, wary of other humanoids he could come across. Just then, his helmet's scanner picked up something in the corner of his eye. He turned around to find a shotgun in the tight grip of a security guard's body. Wrestling the shotgun from the body's hands, F-90 examined it to see if it was in good condition. Pumping a used shell out, he continued forward.

More roars and growls echoed from afar. They know he's here. They're ready.
