  1. General Gameplay Skill Levels
  2.
  3. * Newbie: The player has no real grasp of what's going on yet, and may only understand some very basic things about what you can do.
  4.
  5. * Basic: The player has some grasp on the basics of how the game works. Understands the controls, and most of how they can be used. This player does not have a very deep understanding of the game's deeper complexities.
  6.
  7. * Competent: The player understands the game itself pretty well at this point. The player also has a reasonable grasp of the game's deeper complexities, though can't always exercise them since they don't yet have the time sunk into the game that's necessary to train one's brain to readily spot things more skilled players do. This player is pretty capable of solo game modes, and can occasionally do well in fun multi, but is usually easily defeated in serious high-level environments or by skilled players. This player does not have any particular business entering a tournament that's remotely serious in nature, and would probably embarrass themselves.
  8.
  9. * Skilled: The player understands the game extremely well, and has a great grasp on the tech that can be performed, as well as having enough time dedicated to the game that they have a disciplined eye and brain that can easily spot deeper tech options, and can enact them a fair amount of the time. This player tends to do well in fun multi, and they begin putting up a reasonably good fight in serious environments. This player may put on a reasonable showing - or even win - at a for-fun or local low-tier tournament, but is not likely to win anything wholly serious featuring mostly big names.
  10.
  11. * Competitive: The player understands the game about as deeply as it can be understood, and is intimately familiar with its tech and is very good at adaptation. This skill level is the very definition of "would probably do well for themselves in a serious tournament." This player is good enough that they tend to put on a good showing at meaningful tournaments people actually care about, and is respected by the community. They can win, but don't necessarily do so often, depending just how serious the tournament is.
  12.
  13. * Godlike: This player knows the game like the back of their hand, can perform party tricks at will, and tends to often rank highly at or win any serious tournaments they enter. They're just handily the best. Tends to easily dance around and embarrass players who are just Skilled level or worse. Best person to ask to show off difficult tricks, do showcase runs, or demonstrate glitches most easily.
