  1. Tom Ford’s Oud Wood is exquisite in my opinion. The oud notes smell fresh and powerful, like a punch in the face, with notes of cardamom and vanilla to soften that blow a little bit, just a little bit. But it’s such a pure blast of oud that I welcome the sucker punch. Pairing it with this soft jasmine is opulent. It smells so luxurious. Like the millionaire and her boy toy rolling around in a bed covered in dolla bills and diamond tennis bracelets and flower petals. Gold gilded flower petals actually. The Jasmin Rouge also has notes of cardamom, vanilla, amber and wood, just like the Oud Wood, so they blend seamlessly. The added floral is a botanical dream. Jasmine, ylang-ylang and neroli are bright in this fragrance, you smell them instantly. I hardly think of jasmine perfumes as sweet, but this one has a hint. Cinnamon, bergamot, vanilla and ginger give it a sweet “I want to eat you” element, but not in the way most gourmands come across. It’s not, “you’re so sweet I want to eat you,” but “you’re so sexy I need to lick you” kind of draw in its edible notes. I love pairing these together, but they’re definitely strong enough to stand on their own.
