Buuf is super-duper-special artwork because mattahan allows anyone to re-use and alter his amazing icon set in any non-commercial way. But remember - anyone else is then free to reuse and change and redistribute YOUR buuf creations too!! (as long as they give MATTAHAN credit).


More about sharing buuf (boring):
If you create art using mattahan's buuf images, your work is called a derivative. Derivatives of mattahan's work are allowed to be shared as long as you in turn allow other people to share or modify YOUR work again and again. The only three requirements to using, changing or redistributing buuf images are: 1. you must give MATTAHAN credit; 2. it’s only for non-commercial use; and 3. you must allow others to change alter or redistribute YOUR buuf work along with only the original license and rules.

Bottom Line:
If you post your work using mattahan's images please be advised that under the terms of mattahan's creative usage license ANYONE MAY MODIFY OR REUSE OR REPOST YOUR DERIVATIVE WORK IN ANY NON-COMMERCIAL WAY. We will be creating tons of new and totally free icons using mattahan’s existing buuf artwork – but it would be awesome if we had some more stock icons to work with! Mattahan/Paul Davey [the original creator of Buuf] has agreed to create brand new [“boring” as he put it] stock icons [things like brand new batteries, blank icons, etc]. We will soon be collecting money in a public Buuf Fundraiser. 100% of the money collected will go to mattahan/Paul Davey to pay him for this brand new artwork. Please start sharing some ideas for what we will ask Paul to create.

Masks/Icons:

If you are using other themes that have custom (appstore only) app icons in your Bundles folders you will need to pull those icons out of there and put them in your Icons folder instead [this is an easier and better way to install custom icons vs. bundles anyway!]…otherwise, your existing custom icons will be “re-buufed” by the auto-mask. Your cydia and stock Apple apps can stay in your Bundles folder – they won’t be affected by the auto-mask. Of course – none of these effects are permanent – you can always simply disable the mask theme in winterboard and your icons will be back to normal.

We have included FOUR different Buuf auto-masks for everyone to try...they are not perfect yet and we would really like everyone's feedback. [Do not enable all of the masks at once – only one at time will be active]
