  1. At one point, Hex was just another young Riolu living a happy life with his family, well on the way to evolution given the pampered, happy and wealthy childhood he was having at the time. Unfortunately, luck wasn't on his side... It wasn't on anyone's side.
  2.
  3. Nine years ago, in a distant land far off to the west over the ocean, two nations had just declared war on each other. A small, peaceful city, home to Hex and his family was caught up in the middle of all this. It started with propaganda flooding the streets, both sides trying to win over the inhabitants of this town who didn’t want anything to do with war, quickly escalating as both sides attempted to move troops through at the same time, officially marking the beginning of the war, leaving his home in ruins as the battle consumed everything in its path.
  4.
  5. Hex’s parents worried, both Lucario who were researchers, developing ways to execute various tasks using aura itself. From object manipulation to the very replication of Heal Pulse without needing to know the move, even crystalline objects designed to aid the channeling of aura to improve the effectiveness of moves among plenty of other things. Their research was grand, the end goal of allowing aura sensitive mons to help other mons in need no matter what was happening. This unfortunately, made Hex’s family a prime target for both warring sides, wanting to have an edge over one another in magical/technological superiority.
  6.
  7. As expected, Hex’s parents didn’t agree to this. They wanted to work for peace, not develop ways to kill using their extraordinary gifts, vowing to never allow their work to be used for harming others. This didn’t please either side though, and the day was quickly arriving when the small town would be reduced to a battlefield. Hex, being 8 years old at the time, hardly understood the concept of war, only sad that the junior guild was closed for a while given rising tensions, no longer letting him explore basic dungeons with his friends. Being stuck at home now, he had plenty of time to snoop around, noticing his parents looking at him with an unfamiliar and unsettling look from time to time, sometimes feeling their worry as Riolu tend to do.
  8.
  9. The day the two armies arrived had finally come, Hex’s parents waking him up in the dead of night, explosions and fire lighting up the skyline in the distance as buildings burned and battles raged on, quickly getting closer as the flames grew more intense. Hex was rushed down to his parent’s lab, given a bag of necessities as well a book he was to guard with his life… It was all the research they had done, sealed by a glowing crystalline lock that would from this day on only respond to Hex’s touch.
  10.
  11. The next thing they knew, a boom rocked the building, running could be heard in the halls as one of the sides pushed in to capture Hex’s parents before the fighting could kill them. Hex’s father and mother both gave each other a nod, his father taking out a small blue orb as his mother prepared a Vacuum Wave, both looking at Hex now who at this point was scared, on the verge of crying as he was focused on what was happening outside.
  12.
  13. The door to the lab was blasted open, four Marowak rushing in to attempt to disable Hex’s parents for capture. Just as they did this though, rushing in with Bone Rushes and Thrashes, Hex’s mother fired her Vacuum Wave, not at the Marowak though…
  14.
  15. Hex was suddenly blasted back, flying though the room before the orb his father was holding hit him, glowing as well now. With a flash, he’d suddenly find himself in the middle of a forest, lost, confused and broken… His hometown wasn’t anywhere to be seen, nothing looked familiar, the trees around weren’t even native to his homeland… It was all gone. Even worse, he felt two, deep aura connections suddenly cease… His parents were gone, and he knew it, not wanting to accept what he just felt though as the bond was shattered with their passing. Curling up where he sat, he continued to cry and mourn where he now resided, spending the rest of the night like that as wild ‘mons in the trees looked down on him, leaving as well. He was alone now…
  16.
  17. Fast forward ten years to today, Hex simply wanders around, trying to discover the secrets held in the last thing he has to remember his parents by. The book containing all their research, written in a foreign language he doesn’t understand, hoping he can one day read it, maybe even add on to it himself, though perhaps not make the same mistake of only peace as his parents did. This time, more options were on the table, for better or worse.
