Pokemon Red Dugtrio% Glitchless Route by Enderborn

IMPORTANT: These notes assume you have basic knowledge of the standard Red Any% Glitchless route and all of its manips. This is important for running this route because the route is very similar to Any% Glitchless until about Bill's house. Still, there are some differences, so I will give some rough notes for the early game.

Also credit to chillmagic420 for providing the original notes/route for this category, which I have modified.

BEFORE STARTING
- Options: Fast, Off, Shift

PALLET TOWN
- Choose Squirtle, and give it a 1-character name
- Rival battle: Tail Whip once, then spam Tackle

ROUTE 1
- Kill a Lv. 2-3 pokemon using Tackle (pref. not Lv. 3 Pidgey)
- Deliver the parcel to Oak

VIRIDIAN CITY
- Buy 4 Poke Balls
     > Note: can buy 5 poke balls if you want a spare
- Do Nidoran manip
- Optional: pick up the hidden tree potion
     > Note: You need potion to be above antidote in your inventory for Dugtrio manip.

VIRIDIAN FOREST
- pick up the antidote
- Weedle Guy: Tail Whip x2, Tackle x4-6.

PEWTER CITY
- Go the mart
     > Buy 7 Potions
     > Buy another antidote if you used yours.
          > You must have antidote for dugtrio manip
          > Note: If you bought 4 pokeballs and didn't buy an antidote, you can buy 8 potions instead.

PEWTER GYM
- Switch Nido to the front if you haven't already, consider healing.
- Brock:
     > Geodude:
          > Switch to Squirtle, use bubble
          > Switch to Nidoran afterwards, switch back
     > Onix:
          > Switch to Squirtle, use bubble
- After fight, change the battle style option from SHIFT to SET.

ROUTE 3
- Tackle when possible.
- Bug Catcher 1: Leer+HA+HA, Leer+HA+Tackle/HA, Leer+HA+Tackle.
- Heal to 25+
- Shorts Guy: Leer+HA+HA on both
- Bug Catcher 2: HA+HA/Tackle, HA+HA+HA, HA+HA, HA+HA+HA/Tackle
> If 3 HP, use 2 potions
- Bug Catcher 3: HA+HA, HA+HA+HA+HA
- If no extended bird: catch Spearow or Pidgey in the grass
     > HA (if you have >3) on Lv. 8 bird
     > Tackle for everything else
- Do Moon manip, get Paras

MT. MOON
- Rocket: HA+HA(+PS), Leer+HA/Tackle+HA
     > Zubat safe strats:
          > If confused:
               > 0 Tail Whips: heal if 1-16 HP
               > 1 Tail Whip: heal if 1-26 HP
               > 2 Tail Whips: heal if 1-34 HP
          > If not:
               > 0 Tail Whips: heal if 1-7 HP
               > 1 Tail Whip: heal if 1-11 HP
               > 2 Tail Whips: heal if 1-13 HP
- One tile before the Super Nerd:
     > Use the Rare Candy to reach L16 and evolve
     > Teach Water Gun (TM12) over Tackle
     > Use the Moon Stone
     > Teach Mega Punch (TM01) over Leer
- Super Nerd: MP+MP, MP(+PS), MP+MP
     > Koffing: can also do HA+MP(WG if HA crits)
- Choose the Helix Fossil
- If you don't have a Paras, use the backup manip, use MP to weaken it.

CERULEAN CITY
- Take the center
- Get instant text from bike shop (close menu with B)
- Get the hidden Rare Candy (above the NW house)

NUGGET BRIDGE
- Rival: HA+HA+HA, HA, MP, MP+HA
     > Pidgeotto: if 2 HA and HP extends past right side of 1, MP.
     > If HA crits on Pidgeotto and you get SA, use MP.
     > Ratatta: If 2 or more Sand Attacks, use HA
- Bug Catcher: MP x2
     > If you get String Shot, use HA on Weedle.
- Lass: MP(+PS), HA+HA
- Youngster: MP x3
- Lass: MP(+PS), HA+HA
- Jr. Trainer:
     > If (28+ HP and 9+ MP) OR 1-7 HP: MP(+PS)
          > If miss and 15+ HP: HA+HA/PS
     > Else: HA+HA/PS
- Rocket: MP x2
     > Don't worry about MP count

ROUTE 25
- Bottom Hiker: WG
- Lass: MP, HA+HA
- Bottom Hiker: WG x2, MP(+PS), WG
     > Machop: if 16-20 HP and 3+ potions, use HA(+PS)
- Lass: MP, HA, MP
     > Learn Thrash over MEGA PUNCH
- Get the hidden Ether (NE of the girl)
- Say yes to Bill
- After the Bill cutscene:
     > Heal to 41+ HP (if need to use all potions, center instead)
     > Escape Rope back to Cerulean

CERULEAN CITY
- Get instant text from the bike shop again
- Walk through the Dig house to fight the Rocket
- Rocket: Thrash
     > Note: Machop only gets 1-shot by crit and Drowzee is a range. But IT is only used a little bit longer, so switch if necessary.
     > Note 2: If Nidoking dies, swap in something else and attack, then center afterwards. Nido does not need the EXP.
     > If hit Drowzee and confused, can just swap in bird and attack
     > If 1-15 HP after this fight, consider potion
- Walk through the Dig house again, and continue south toward Vermilion

ROUTE 5
- Take the Underground path
- Get the Full Restore
- Jr. Trainer: Thrash
- If 1-20 HP, use potion (Raticate is a range)
- Jr. Trainer: Thrash

VERMILLION CITY
- Get bike voucher with IT
- Go to Dugtrio Manip Location
- Note: I'm not sure if Dugtrio manip works with redbar. Might want to test this before a run, or just heal out of it.

- Select Yoloball
- Save in front of second sign, before Diglett tunnel
- Pokeball, potion, antidote, TM34 need to be the first 4 items in bag
- Remember to name it "A"
- Menu immediately after catching:
     > Swap Dugtrio to front (check if HP is 67)
     > Switch Nidoking and Paras
     > Dig out (with Dugtrio)

CERULEAN CITY
- Get Bike
- Menu:
     > Swap slot 1 and 2
     > Swap slot 1 with bike
     > Toss antidote
     > Bike to Misty's gym
- Misty's Trainer:
     > Swap Dig to slot 1, Dig
- Misty:
     > Dig, Scratch (until hit), Dig
          > If you get Water Gun non-crit on first turn, Growl
          > If you get speedfall, sac bird
- Bike to dig house, then bike to underground
- Go to underground, use bike
- IMPORTANT: Kill one encounter in the grass
     > Dig if possible, otherwise Scratch
- Bike to Vermillion city

VERMILLION CITY
- Go to S.S. Anne

S.S. ANNE
- Enter 4th door to the left
- Down + Right to fight trainer
- Youngster Male: Dig
- Pick up TM08, Body Slam
- Leave room, menu:
     > Teach TM08, Body Slam, over slot 2 (growl)
- Go upstairs
- Enter the 4th door down the hallway to fight Gentleman
- Gentleman: Swap Dig with Body Slam, BS x2
- Get rare candy
- After exiting, menu:
     > (potion if 1-16 HP)
     > Use both rare candies
- Boat Rival: BS x3, (Scratch if 24+ HP), Dig
     > Pidgeotto and Raticate IF L34: 7-9 QA. Ivysaur: 15-18
- Get HM01
- Leave

VERMILLION CITY
- Bike to mart
- Mart:
     > Sell Nugget, TM28, TM34, and TM11
     > Buy 3 repels
- Walk to cut bush and menu:
     > Swap slot 2 with repel
     > (potion if 1-5 HP)
     > Teach HM01 to Paras
     > Use Cut
- Do cans manip
- Surge:
     > If 1-26 HP: BS x2, Dig
     > Else: Scratch x2, BS, Dig
- Bike to cut bush, cut, enter bike voucher house, use Dig

CERULEAN CITY
- Bike to the bush, cut
- Thrash girl: BS x4
     > Teach Slash over Sand Attack (slot 4)
- Bug Catcher: Slash x3
- Enter rock tunnel

ROCK TUNNEL
- Move 1 step in and menu:
     > Use repel (slot 2)
     > Use ether on Dig
- Pokemaniac 1: Dig x2
- Pokemaniac 2: Dig
- Oddish girl: Slash x2
- Use repel (slot 2)
- Use repel before Hiker
- Hiker: Dig x3

- Go to mart

- Buy 10 Super Repels, 3 Super Potions, and 2 Revives
4F:

- Give to girl for TM48

- Buy 9 X Acc and 14 X Atk
- Bike to Fly house
- Get HM02
- Fly menu:
     > Swap slot 3 with Super Repel
     > Heal to 40+ HP
     > Teach TM48, Rock Slide, over slot 3 (Scratch)
     > Use Super Repel
     > Swap slot 2 with X Attacks

LAVENDER TOWN
- Lavender Rival:
     > X Atk, (X Acc if SA or 30+ HP), BS, RS, Slash, BS x2
          > Note: X Acc turn 2 is a safer play with 30+ HP. Missing against Gyarados can kill you.
          > Revive if you die, don't X Atk again: RS, Slash x3
- Channeler: Dig x2 or RS x2
- Get elixer
- SKIP hidden elixer
- Take heal pad
- Channeler 2 and 3: Dig or RS
- Get rare candy
- Ghost Menu:
     > swap slot 4 with X Acc
     > Use Poke doll (up 2)
- Rocket 1: BS x2, RS
- Rocket 2: Dig, Slash

- Get Poke Flute

CELADON CITY
- Take the center

FUSCHIA CITY
- Bike to gym
- Trainer 1: Slash x2, BS, Slash
- Trainer 2: Slash x2, BS
- If poisoned or 1-12 HP, use Full Restore before Koga
- Koga: X Atk, (X Acc if Smokescreen), Dig x4
     > If you miss on Muk: X Acc, Dig x2, sac Nido on Weezing
- Fly to Celadon

CELADON CITY
- Bike to Erika's Gym
- Erika's trainer: Slash
- Erika: Dig, Slash(+BS), Dig
- Fly to Fuschia

FUSCHIA CITY
- Bike to Warden's house
- Get HM04
- Menu next to boulder:
     > Use Super Repel
     > Swap slot 5 with protein
     > Teach HM03 to Squirtle
     > Teach HM04 to Squirtle
     > Use/toss potions (I recommend healing as much as possible)
     > Use Protein on Dugtrio
- Use strength
- Get rare candy
- Fly to Pallet Town

PALLET TOWN/CINNABAR MANSION
- Surf to Cinnabar Mansion
- Menu one step under stairs to 3F
     > use Super repel
- Get both rare candies here
- Get secret key
- Dig out
- Fly to Cinnabar
- Bike to gym

CINNABAR GYM
- ABBBAB
- Blaine:
     > X Atk
     > If 5 Digs: Dig x4
     > If 4 Digs: RS, Dig x3
     > Note: If you get burned by Growlithe (very unlikely), I recommend using Slash until you die. Full Restore will not remove Burn's
     attack reduction. When you die, just revive and keep going.
- Dig out
- Menu:
     > Swap slot 5 with Revives
     > Use all 3 rare candies on Dugtrio
          > Teach EQ over BS (slot 1)
     > Bike to Silph

SILPH CO.
- Go to 5th floor
- Get hidden tree elixer
- Rocket Arbok: EQ
- Get card key
- Heal to 60+ HP if you're not already
- Silph Rival: X Atk, X Acc, RS x4, Dig
     > If you die to Venusaur: sac Squirtle, revive, Slash
- Rocket: EQ, Slash, EQ(+Slash)
- Heal to 30+
- Giovanni: X Atk, EQ x4
- Dig
- Bike to Saffron gym

SAFFRON GYM
- Top left, bottom left, bottom left
- Sabrina: Slash x2, EQ x2
- Dig from teleporter
- Fly to Viridian City
- Menu:
     > Use Elixer
     > Heal to full with Supers
     > (Toss remaining Supers)
     > Bike to gym

VIRIDIAN GYM
- Cooltrainer: EQ
- Blackbelt: EQ(+Slash), Slash, EQ(+Slash)
- Heal to 60+ HP
- Giovanni: EQ x6
- Exit gym, menu:
     > Use Super Repel
     > Heal to 75+ HP with Full Restore
     > Teach Fissure over Dig (slot 2)
     > Bike
- Viridian Rival:
     > X Atk x2, X Acc, RS, Fissure, RS, Fissure x3
     > If 1-50 HP on Pidgeot, consider healing
- Bike to Route 23

ROUTE 23
- Bike to the water
- After exiting the water:
     > use Super Repel
     > Bike to Victory Road

VICTORY ROAD
- use Strength
- Push boulder onto left switch
- On the next floor:
     > Go to the right of the boulder below
     > Use Super Repel
     > Use Strength
- Push the boulder below onto the switch
- On the next floor:
     > Use Strength again
     > Push boulder up 2 tiles, left a bunch, then onto switch
- Bike to the boulder in the bottom-right corner, push it down the
 hole, then go down the hole
- Next floor:
     > Use Strength
     > Use your last Super Repel
     > Use bike
- Push the boulder onto the switch in the bottom-left
- Head to the exit

INDIGO PLATEAU
- Deposit no pokemon
- Take the center
- Buy 4 Revives and 8 Full Restores
     > You can buy more, but these are pretty good numbers.
- Lorelei:
     > Switch to Pidgey, send in Dugtrio after
     > X Acc, Fissure x5
- Before Bruno:
     > Use Elixer
     > Revive Pidgey
- Bruno: X Acc, Fissure x5
- Menu:
     > use Elixer
     > Full Restore (can swap with another item)
- Agatha: EQ, RS + Slash, EQ x3
     > Full restore on/after Golbat if confused and 1-60 HP
- Lance:
     > Gyarados: Slash x3
          > If/when you die, send something else out and revive Dugtrio
          > If Gyara is 1 hit away from dying and it didn't immediately kill the pokemon you sent out (after reviving Dugtrio):
               > use FR on Dugtrio to stall. Else, use Flute.
     > Dragonair 1:
          > (At all times, heal to 76+ HP)
          > X Atk x2, X Acc
               > If you have one Atk boost and Dragonair1 used agility, EQ once.
          > EQ x2, RS x3
               > If Dragonite kills you: sac something other than Nido, revive, Rock Slide.
- Heal to full
- If all party dead, revive Pidgey
- Champ:
     > Pidgeot: X Atk x3, X Acc, RS
          > If Sky Attack:
               > If not full health: Full Restore
          > If Sky Attack hits, use Full Restore
     > Fissure x2, RS, Fissure x2
          > (If you get rock slide crit on Gyarados, you can die. Revive and finish Gyarados with RS, then use X Acc on Arcanine)
