  1. "Good evening and welcome to-" *kzzt* "-reports have just come in-" *kzzt* "-large, unidentified flying-" *kzzt* "-urge people to stay inside and not to panic."
  2.
  3. The man on the couch gave a sigh as he tossed the remote back onto the table with a clack, moving his hands to rub his chin. "Low profile" they said. Maybe there was a mix up between the languages. A giant hunk of shimmering metal bigger than a football stadium suddenly appearing over the Midwest with electrical interference plaguing the area didn't exactly scream subtlety to him. Still they hadn't decided to completely destroy the whole planet so that was a plus.
  4.
  5. His eyes moved over to the door on the other side of the room, the doorknob turning as a woman in a very official suit stepped inside, clipboard in hand. She readjusted her sunglasses and gave a little cough, looking at him. With nary a nod he stood up from the couch and took out his own pair of glasses, quickly following her out of the room. They passed a multitude of other people as they walked the halls, most everyone having a frantic look on their faces.
  6.
  7. This place was definitely not used to this many people as he nearly bumped into around a dozen people. "So... I take it I'll be providing security?" he asked as they made their way into an elevator, thankfully alone. Silently she pushed the console and they ascended floors a bit slower than either of them would have liked, the number above the door climbing.
  8.
  9. "Yes that's correct. As you probably guessed this situation is..." Her sentence trailed off and she let out a heavy sigh, briefly straightening her hair before speaking again. "It is of the utmost importance that this conference does not go sour."
  10.
  11. He gave her a small nod as he leaned back against the elevator wall. "Affirmative. Is there anything that's vitally necessary to know at the moment?" he asked, her hands flipping through her clipboard.
  12.
  13. "Most everything will be explained on your ride over. Which was originally going to be by helicopter but the electrical interference made us wary so you'll be taking a lightly armored transport truck there." She said, a small nod coming from him again.
  14.
  15. The elevator finally stopped at the ground floor with a ding, doors shifting open. They were greeted with dozens of people rushing around, some getting into carriers, others moving around supplies. He stepped off the elevator and turned to face the woman, raising his hand to salute her. "Thank you, ma'am. I'll do my country and this world proud." he said with her returning the salute as the doors closed once more.
  16.
  17. Unsurprisingly it was a bit difficult to find exactly where he was supposed to go. All the hustle and bustle was a lot more than he was used to. Typically he and whoever else he was assigned with would be quickly shuttled into a car or truck or helicopter to provide security for some public official. At least the black suit helped him stand out against the green and brown fatigues, the sound of someone calling him hitting his ears.
  18.
  19. "Carson! Agent Carson! Hey, Elliot, over here!" yelled someone next to a transport truck that he couldn't clearly see or even really hear but he had a good idea of who it was.
  20.
  21. As Carson neared the truck he was definitely right in his assumption. Norman Riley. It figures they would've have brought him along too. In fact as he got even closer he could see a few other people he knew. Ward. Fisher. Mendoza. He guessed protecting the president and surrounding area required the best they had. Of course here's hoping they wouldn't need them at all.
  22.
  23. Riley gave Carson a firm handshake as he got close to the truck, turning briefly to look out towards the road. "So I guess this is it, huh? Biggest assignment of our lives. Protecting the US from aliens." Riley said with a small chuckle, running a hand through his hair.
  24.
  25. "Yeah. Well here's hoping we don't fuck it up. You got any idea what we're in for?" Carson inquired, Riley humming and giving a small shrug.
  26.
  27. "Nah. They told me they'd explain on the way over. Guessing they told you that too. Hell I'm not sure any of us even know what they look like yet. Ward? Fisher? Mendoza? You get any info?" Riley answered as he looked towards the truck, the three other agents shaking their heads.
  28.
  29. "Completely in the dark here, sir." Kelly Ward spoke up, glancing towards the cab of the truck. "But we should really get moving. Wade's getting understandably antsy."
  30.
  31. Carson looked over at the cab to see someone rapping their fingers against the steering wheel. "Right. Slide over then." He said as he hoisted himself up into the cab, readjusting his sunglasses. Riley handed him a radio, which was promptly affixed to his shirt, and knocked on the truck's cab. A few seconds later and the engine chugged to life, the truck laboriously pulling from the garage.
  32.
  33. The radios crackled as they started to pull onto the main road, a stern voice coming through. "Alright now I'm not going to go over how important this is again. You've all already heard it. I'll just be giving you the facts. As of right now we have no idea exactly what they want or why they decided to arrive here of all places."
