  3. ----------------
  4. >"Well, we lost the watch. But we still have the bracelet and I'm fairly certain that's worth more than the watch anyway. We can still turn a profit here gentlemen~"
  5.
  6. >You take a bite out of the lobster tail in your hand
  7. >Never one to leave perfectly good anything unstolen, you and the handful of crewmen who aren't still in the brothels, bars, and weapons stores all nicked morsels off of the other diner's plates while you were fleeing from Lucifer's kid before she could call up the Praetorian Guard
  8. >You went for the pricey shellfish
  9. >Cricks stole an entire loaf of garlic bread
  10. >O'Toole has a magnum of wine in each hand
  11. >Jerry, the bloody idiot, nabbed a fistful of fettuccine
  12. >You use the one hand that isn't lobster-y to retrieve the string of jewels from your pocket and give it a twirl
  13.
  14. >"All we need to do is find the right buyer~"
  15. ------
  16. >"Ten thousand?!"
  17. >"Are you trying to insult me or is that your idea of a joke?"
  18.
  19. >"I assure you, the insult is just a bonus"
  20. >"And you're lucky I'm even considering buying this at all, since it's quite OBVIOUSLY stolen"
  21.
  22. >"You don't know that!"
  23.
  24. >"I have a good hunch, seeing as how even if you weren't very clearly a pirate, you'd still have the general air of being a toff, a rake, and a bounder"
  25.
  26. >"I-"
  27.
  28. >"And if your deckhand over there doesn't put that cigar case back right where he found it I'm going to shoot him"
  29.
  30. >"Seamus, put it back."
  31.
  32. >"Yes, Captain."
  33.
  34. >The sinner looked decidedly dejected at having been caught
  35.
  36. >"I want at least thirty"
  37.
  38. >"Fifteen"
  39.
  40. >"Twenty-five"
  41.
  42. >"Twenty"
  43.
  44. >"Twenty"
  45. >"Five"
  46.
  47. >"-Twenty-"
  48.
  49. >"Throw in the cigar case for my friend?"
  50.
  51. >"You can have a box of cigars to fill it with too"
  52. >"Just give me the damned jewels and get out before someone else comes in here and sees me haggling with a pack of sea dogs"
  53.
  54. >"How about that coat over there?"
  55.
  56. >"Yes!"
  57. >"If it'll get you out of my shop, then yes!"
  58.
  59. >"Deal!"
  60. ----
  61. >The shopkeeper waits about fifteen minutes, then puts the bracelet in the window of the store
  62. >The sooner someone buys it the sooner it becomes their problem
  63. >The last thing he needs is for it to sit around long enough for someone to recognize it as stolen
  64.
  65. >Meanwhile, Charlie is strolling arm-in-arm with Vaggie down the waterfront, contemplating the best way to exploit a pirate captain as a benefactor for her hotel as she window shops...
  66. ----
  67. >"Ooooohhh Vaggie, look!"
  68. >"That bracelet would be great on you!"
  69.
  70. >"Charlie, you really don't have to buy me jewelry"
  71.
  72. >"Awww I know but this just looks so perfect..."
  73. >"...actually its kind of familiar..."
  74.
  75. >The shop's front door crashes in
  76. >Charlie surges over to the counter
  77.
  78. >"Where did you get that bracelet?!"
  79. ----
  80. >The demon behind the counter sputters and stutters as he tries to concoct a lie on the fly
  81.
  82. >"Oh that?"
  83. >"I got it from...uhhhhh"
  84.
  85. >"It's my mom's bracelet!"
  86.
  87. >"....fuk"
  88. -
  89. >"I swear I didn't know it was stolen"
  90. >"I SWEAR"
  91. >"I had no idea!"
  92. >"He uhhhh told me that he found it in the sand with a metal detector!"
  93. >"I had no reason not to believe him!"
  94. >"If I had known it was stolen I would have called the-"
  95.
  96. >"Nevermind that!"
  97. >"Do you know where they went?"
  98.
  99. >"Th-they said they were going to round up the rest of their men and head for the docks"
  100.
  101. >Looks like you're in luck, shopkeep, she's not interested in you
  102.
  103. >"The guy I bought it from has a brand new commodore's coat on"
  104. >"Just follow the trail of cigar butts, they'll lead right to 'em"
  105.
  106. >"PERFECT!"
  107. >"Come on Vaggie!"
  108.
  109. >Charlie bolts out the door and down the street
  110. >Vaggie follows for a moment, then hesitates
  111. >She turns back, reaches into the display, and pulls out Lilith's bracelet
  112. >She tries it on, a faint look of approval appearing on her face
  113. >She shoots a stern glare at the shopkeeper
  114. >She knew he was spitting pure bullsht when he said he didn't know the merchandise was hot
  115. >She raises a finger to her lips
  116. >"Keep your mouth shut"
  117. >Then she hustles off down the street to catch up with Charlie
