  1. Boros Legion:
  2.
  3. Food & Cuisine:
  4. I hope you like MREs. While slightly facetious, the average Legionnaire is going to have several MREs in his pack at all times, due to the fact that an emergency can be around any corner and they might have to live off their MREs. When you're back in the barracks, you're gonna get quality grub - an army marches on its stomach, so the food back in the mess halls is pretty top notch. Officers get better grub obviously, but even the recruits get stuff that's above average. Food generally is decided on by the superiors when on-duty and in training, but off-duty, you can do whatever.
  5.
  6. Stimulants are encouraged and many Boros Legionnaires are addicted to various stimulants. Then they take more stimulants and medicines to offset the stimulants, and all-in-all there is a high incidence of abuse. Off-duty, anything is allowed that doesn't actively destroy the body - so alcohol and most light drugs are okay. Anything that isn't or leaves you incapacitated is not.
  7.
  8. Leisure and Recreation:
  9. Sports! Boros Athletic Leagues are a sight to behold. Everybody from the lowest grunt to the elite angel spec-ops are present at the performances. Even the other guilds generally show up to watch (with the Selesnya Conclave being the only other guild that has teams) basis. The sports themselves are generally divided by race though, since centaurs have an advantage in jousting, and football is played in 3-D and dominated by the angels. Some sports, like swordplay, spear-throwing, and distance running is competitive between races. ((Generally, think Olympics every year and you'll be right on the money.))
  10.
  11. Other Boros recreation and leisure is also very physical. Saunas, bathhouses, massage parlors - anything that relaxes and soothes the muscles is pretty top notch in their books. What's interesting is that one type of semi-intellectual recreation is welcomed in the Legion - tactical and strategic wargaming. Not so much for the grunts (although they're usually taught the basics during downtime during basic training), but almost every single officer is into it. Including Guildmaster Aurelia. ((If you want to represent it, give them a proficiency in Dragon Chess)).
  12.
  13. Friendship & Conflict:
  14. Your unit is your friends. They are people you will literally be fighting for and the idea is that you lay down your life for them and they lay their life down for you. Generally speaking, the Boros Legion recognizes the importance of morale, and as such, psych evals of their troops are done to make sure the unit has moral cohesion. Because of this, generally speaking the unit works as one and parties as one. Boros friendships are usually very emotionally deep.
  15.
  16. Conflict resolution is complex in the Legion. The emotional bonds between people sometimes turn into friendly rivalries, or inter-unit rivalries rear their heads, or sometimes there's just random conflicts. However, the chain of command is a lifesaver in these things. If it's between people of different rank, then there will usually be a quick military tribunal. Sometimes justice is meted out by the tribunal, but usually, it's decided via trial by combat. Never to the death, but to either submission, first blood, or unconsciousness. And if it's between people of equal rank, then it'll usually be settled by a fight first and then beers after. Conflicts between officers are either talked out... or there are duels. Rarely to the death, usually until first blood.
  17.
  18. Relationships & Sexuality:
  19. Boros are extremely egalitarian in both sex and gender. They don't care how you present yourself, or what you are, so long as you're willing to stand up and fight the good fight. Sex and gender are treated as an afterthought, though people make sure to use things like "sir" or "ma'am" as appropriate. As far as actual relationships go, dating vertically between the ranks is a no-go, though of course such dalliances do occur (and are punished, up to expulsion). Dating horizontally between the ranks is fine and dandy. Sexuality as a whole is of little consequence to the Legion as are traditional gender roles - you're a soldier so you fight. Cross-species sex happens frequently, brothels are a thing, and psych officers will often tell their charges to go get laid.
  20.
  21. Childhood & Old Age:
  22. Welcome to boot camp. Children are first raised inside a unit from where they were born, with the parents getting assistance from the rest of the unit (who then act like aunts, uncles and so on). Once they're old enough, they go to school, but it's essentially boot camp. Children are taught survival, combat, law, combat, street smarts, combat, and combat. Constant testing is done to see what the child has aptitude for. When they reach adolescence, they'll get their first posting, and continue training there (usually away from the parents). Once they're full-fledged combatants, they usually form a unit out of the people they did basic with, or they'll go back their birth unit (which is rarer).
  23.
  24. Old age isn't really a concern all that much for the Legion. When it does happen, they're given a big fat pension, and told to retire. Except generally speaking, they'll hang around their old unit anyway, telling war stories, giving youngsters advice, and providing moral support. Another alternative is when a person feels old age creep up on them, they'll just go, get a group of like-minded old people (including some old enemies) and do a final attack against the enemies of law and order (most of other guilds). Since they all die in the process, the Boros just throws some weregild at the offended party and calls it a day.
  25.
  26. General Notes:
  27. The Boros Legion is very tight-knit, because of the shared experience of combat. Even though some members might not like each other, they're all in this together, so they have a sense of community almost as strong as the Selesnayans. At the same time, they're all passionate about their cause, and each other, so a lot of times, the Boros Legion should feel like a powderkeg, or an energetic excited dog.
