  1. Start: 8 am, Sunday, Eleasis 8, 1396
  2.
  3. The party peered through the portal to assess their situation. It appeared a bit more complicated than it did on first glance.
  4.
  5. Summarily, they observed the situation was thus:
  6.
  7. "The area is marred with pocks and deep fissures which periodically expel foul spores. The area vaguely writhes, as if composed of some creature's fungoid flesh, or brain. Several foreign structures are erected to process the maggots being collected by tentacles, and processed in hydraulic machines by enthralled myconids. The end product appears to be collected in the middle, and stored in tanks. Several creatures are within the 30 tanks assembled near the portal, with a myriad of appearances. These tanks appear to connect to the central tank via underground pipes. A lesser myconid appears to be the most lucid, in the top left of the area. She is overseeing a crystal, and appears to be in a trance. Before her is an enormous crystal with dark specters dancing within. The ceiling is 40' high, and the entire structure appears to be made of fungoid growth, much like what was on the riverbanks of the swamp. Four neolithids patrol the area, and appear docile right now. Five wounds in the fungoid brain seep foul fluid from the outside, polluted by maggots, and likely mixed with the waters of the river Styx."
  8.
  9. The tentacles in the area did not appear properly alive, but on closer inspection appeared to be ectoplasmic creations subject to their creator's whims.
  10.
  11. The lesser myconid appeared to be incredibly detailed, like a sculpture, whereas most myconids are generally simple in form. It was also as if her appearance was twisted, and small, painful veins of implanted crystal could be seen embedded in her fungal flesh. Each of which was carefully and deliberately added, creating a scarred wound on each implantation. Nevertheless, the myconid appeared lucid and cogent.
  12.
  13. The entire area was suffused with a disease akin to mummy rot, or perhaps more accurately, similar to the cult affliction.
  14.
  15. Ronja deemed the layer periodically has acid rain and other hazards including storms with hurricane force winds, and experiences frequent flooding. Most of the layer is a maligned sort of wetland unkind to material life. On the upside, the light never gets bright enough to negatively effect Monty. The brightest the light gets on this layer is dim. As such, several of the aquatic creatures of the layer are averse to light.
  16.
  17. The party deemed themselves unprepared for this encounter, and elected to return at a later time, if such a thing is possible.
  18.
  19. Instead, the party deemed it appropriate to destroy the guardian crystal golems, and harvest all of the crystals, rather methodically.
  20.
  21. The party left the cavern and decamped to their wagon on the outskirts of the Vrock cavern.
  22.
  23. Vix reanimated several vrocks, and decided to visit Darkhold.
  24.
  25. The party was prohibited from visiting the tower on the mountain, but were allowed passage into Darkhold without incident. They were welcomed, in fact.
  26.
  27. They quickly realized every guard in the town of Darkhold was subject to domination, and in fact all seemed to have the same hairstyle. Other than some oddities, townsfolk got on with relative normalcy. It would appear the cultists to not directly interfere much in the daily life of townsfolk, and Darkhold is a haven of a sort of stability in the tumult of the surrounding area. The population seemed to be an even mix of refugees and normal townsfolk. A general sense of fear and unease permeated the attitudes of the people, but apart from that understandable affect, Darkhold held a strange sense of normalcy.
  28.
  29. The party approached the slave block, and Cassius purchased two slaves. One was a dryad named Gisellia, the other was a wood elf named Arvessia Tanglewood. Arvessia was quite reluctant and took convincing, but eventually conceded, given her other options. Each of the slaves appeared to be stricken with fear.
  30.
  31. Vix purchased a cheap slave who was on the verge of death to feed to Omen.
  32.
  33. Ronja examined the prison and judged it to be a crude tube shaped building formed of Shape Stone.
  34.
  35. Reassessing her options, instead of assaulting the prison, she decided to ask around first. She found out a child saw Tonks being escorted up the mountain to the fortress, seemingly not under duress.
  36.
  37. She decided to cast sending to speak with Tonks. This was his reply:
  38.
  39. "Tonks - I am safe, talking with Pereghost. They may help but want concessions. Have many troops, but want region and well. Be safe."
  40.
  41. It would seem the Pereghost intend to doublecross Harondalbar, and intend to ultimately seize control of the Well of Dragons for their own, likely nefarious purpose.
  42.
  43. The party decided to visit their demiplane. There, they dropped off the slaves and instructed them to begin sowing the seeds Cassius purchased, and have the dryad begin making a forest.
  44.
  45. Vix raised 1 vrock skeleton, 10 troll skeletons, and 45 human skeletons. She awakened the Vrock and named it Keir. She instructed Keir to act as a foreman and begin to extract valuable minerals and begin to dig out an underground complex for her. The nascent sentience complied.
  46.
  47. Additionally, they dropped off the artificer's crafting homunculus and Zira. The worg pups are also left with food to learn, grow, and develop.
  48.
  49.
  50. Demiplane is ready. 10:1 time elapse on the demiplane.
  51. Omen must feed in 64 hours. Provisions provide 1 more feedings for Omen. Monty must feed urgently.
  52. XP: 800
  53.
  54. End: 4 pm, Sunday, Eleasis 8, 1396
