  1. Zelda: The Minish Cap 100% FAQ
  2.
  3. What do you have to get for 100%?
  4. 100% includes all heart pieces and heart containers, all inventory items, biggest bomb bag, biggest quiver, biggest wallet, obtaining all Tiger Scrolls, learning all advanced techniques, collecting all Joy Butterflies and getting the Golden Tingle Statue (all kinstone fusions).
  5.
  6. Do you have to get the figurines as well?
  7. I do. I need them to get a heart piece. :(
  8.
  9. How long does it take to get all the figurines?
  10. Since there's an RNG manipulation for the figurines, they "only" take about 35 minutes to get (unless I fail the manipulation).
  11.
  12. How does the RNG manipulation work?
  13. If you s+q, you always start with the same RNG value, so by using a certain movement path to get into the figurine house, the first figurine will always be Gleerock.
  14. Since there is nothing besides Link in the room that can change the RNG, the next figurines will also always be the same.
  15. The first few figurines after Gleerock will be new ones, but after a certain amount the game wants to give you one you already have.
  16. By slashing the sword or using the boots now, the RNG changes, resulting in a new figurine instead of one you already have.
  17. Sometimes one sword slash isn't enough, so you might see me slash the sword ~5 times.
  18. Sometimes sword slashes are combined with boots usages to change RNG more quickly (boots advance RNG 3x3 times, sword only 1 per slash).
  19.
  20.
  21. Who do you have to fuse with?
  22. There are a quite a few NPCs who always want to fuse with you and always need the same kinstone piece.
  23. However, there are also some NPCs who only sometimes want to fuse with you and need a different kinstone piece almost every time.
  24. These fusions are called shared and fickle fusions.
  25. Since I'm really bad at explaining, I'll just steal the explanation from Kirby's pastebin:
  26. "Shared Fusions are a list of fusions shared randomly among several fusers. So when one fuses with a shared fuser, the resulting fusion will be random from the list of shared fusions. Due to the randomness of this, it's important to get as many shared fusers as possible throughout the run. Fortunately, the mt crenel hermit will always do up to 5 shared fusions and is not fickle, so missing a few can be compensated by doing all of them with the hermit, as long as no more than 5 shared fusions are missed.
  27. Fickle Fusers are characters that have a random chance to have a desire to fuse with you or not. All fickle fusers are (fortunately) also shared fusers so it is not necessary to hit every fickle fuser possible. The exception is the teacher Tina, she is the only fickle fuser that does not perform a shared fusion.
  28. This does NOT mean all shared fusers are fickle fusers; some fusers that always want to fuse are also shared."
  29. (from KirbymastaH's 100% route pastebin (http://pastebin.com/iZawEWG6))
  30.
  31. Where do you get the Kinstones for all the fusions?
  32. There's a glitch that allows us to get as many green Kinstones as we want, basically. Using the glitch, we usually also get most (sometimes all) the blue Kinstones for the entire run as well as a few red Kinstones. The missing red Kinstones are gotten from chests.
  33.
  34. How does the glitch work?
  35. First, you have to get the Ocarina Glitch which allows you to walk on water. With that, you can enter some caves without doing the fusion first, meaning you don't trigger the floor which you usually need to enter the cave. If you exit the cave now, you will fall into the water, since you don't have the Flippers at this point in the game. I'm assuming the game doesn't really know where to spawn Link since he hasn't touched any ground on the map yet, so it spawns him on a certain tile (the ground inside of the caves are somewhat connected to the tiles outside of the map, there are multiple ways of changing the tile you spawn on). Usually, this tile is at the very top left corner of the screen (default position). By entering the fairy fountain however, we can manipulate the spawn point, making the game respawn Link right at the entrance of Hyrule Town. Kind of, at least.
  36. You see, by entering the fairy fountain, we actually make Link spawn very very far out of bounds. When Link spawns very far out of bounds, a second - invisible - Link will appear on the original map. This copy of Link can actually interact with some tiles, like grass and stones. And interestingly, if this copy of Link slashes grass or picks up rocks, they don't disappear. You can slash a grass tile, get a rupee drop from it, and slash it a second time to get another one.
  37. Spamming sword slashes now will result in a lot of item drops and if you combine this with a white picolyte (increases kinstone drops), it gets ridiculous pretty fast.
  38.
  39. How many fusions are there?
  40. 100 in total:
  41. GP - 17
  42. G< - 17
  43. G[ - 16
  44. B6 - 8
  45. BL - 9
  46. RE - 8
  47. R> - 7
  48. R3 - 9
  49. Golden Kinstones - 9
  50.
  51. Do you have to keep track of the fusions?
  52. Kind of, ideally you want certain shared fusions to be done by specific points.
  53. For example, you'd want the Hyrule Garden pond fusion to be done by the time you leave Dark Hyrule Castle. If the fusion is done later, you have to go out of your way later to get the heart piece.
  54. Other than that, keeping track of how many kinstones you have (and still need) is more important - and usually quite challenging.
  55. Every run is going to be a bit different routing wise. Sometimes you have lots of red kinstones after the big farm, allowing you to skip certain chests or even whole caves. And sometimes you will end up without any extras of a specific kind, meaning you can't skip some parts. Without any extra R> for example, you cannot skip the cave in Hyrule Town, and you have to postpone the shared R> fusion until you meet the Mt. Crenel hermit.
  56. After looking at the kinstone count when the big farm is done, there's a lot of mental notes to make and a lot of on-the-fly-routing to do, which makes it quite difficult to optimize this category.
  57.
  58. Does playing on Wii U save time?
  59. It does, but I don't really have an estimate. Some things are slower on Wii U, and some are faster, however the only significant time save is from saving. Compared to Any%, there aren't that many additional save and quits in 100% (some are not even in 100%), therefore I suspect that the time save isn't very huge. I would guess it's not more than a minute.
  60.
  61. What's WR?
  62. Currently, the World Record is 4:03:23 by ToadsWoot.
  63.
  64. Goal?
  65. I really want to see if this can go sub 4 hours.
