  14.
  15. Oh. Oh, I know this place. The Demiplane of Dread.
  16.
  17. It wasn't a fun stay. Having a cult took a bit of a turn, considering I actually give a damn about them - I had thousands of years to get to know them personally, and at least the banishing spell that took them (and Demona, and myself) here at the end of the last decade didn't have any side-effects like making them live another life again.
  18.
  19. So knowing they're scattered across the plane in various nations... that really did grind my gears. Fortunately, there was a very easy way to deal with that; turns out that Ravenloft is a very violent place, and though the mist serves to trap the locals, it has no sway on me. And... for whatever reason, it turns out that manufacturing hand-held mantra transmitters in the form of religious iconography works somewhat in terms of dissuading the nastier of the locals. Mostly the undead type, but it still works.
  20.
  21. In order to keep my men and women safe, I had to be quite proactive. This... worked not so well. Sure, they had psionic powers - in fact, coming here had served to make them resistant to magic and mind control - but this was only of limited utility against the worse of the local dark lords. And though they came after me in hopes that somehow slaying me would win them their freedom... slaying THEM served to be only a temporary measure.
  22.
  23. Ten years of the local powers trying to beat me down, pound into my head that anything I did was futile.
  24.
  25. If I find myself in a similar situation ever again, I'll have to find a way to kill the gods themselves. Insanity.
