I JUST HAD A BANGER OF A DREAM ABOUT A NEW POKEMON GAME

So it's called: Pokemon Legends: Mysteries of the Mithits
and the gimmick of this is the Mithits, special pokemon that resemble relic-like anomalies that seem to be able to possess inanimate objects and take on new forms and also seem to have the inherent power to cause time/spacial anomalies that lead to alternate universes

They can only be captured via a special device that's similar to a snag machine, which transforms the pokeball into a special "Myth Ball"

It takes place in a valley where many many different pokemon reside, with multiple different biomes across it, no one knows what's outside the valley only that there's legends of a blasted wasteland where hardly anyone lives.

you know that bot in USUM where you traveled to alternate universes via ultra wormholes?

That's the gimmick, the people of the valley have figured out a way to create stable back and forth ultra wormhole travel in order to gather supplies for their valley and discover all kinds of wierd and original pokemon!

Which leads to another gimmick!

instead of any new pokemon, there's assloads of a new type of pokemon called "Alternates" which are basically pokemon from alternate universes that come in a variety of different types and appearances, which can even extend to legendaries!

The new pokemon type is Anomaly, which is a type the mithits have! These pokemon are so called because they have strange and unique powers that warp the very fabric of time and space and even have moves that reflect that nature!
As you journey with your pokemon friends across time and space, you join the local Anomaly Investigation and Battle League where get this

Instead of Gym Battles, you investigate Anomalies, which are portals that open to dark twisted universes where you collect anomaly badges. What these are are basically gym badges from dark and twisted versions of gym leaders of the past, present, and future!

and another gimmick of it is that there are more Anomaly Gym Leaders than you actually need to defeat to get to the upper echelons of the organization.

as well as multiple end-game options.

Mithits are generally a pokemon you can capture but they have as much power as an unknown, where their real power lies is in their ability to augment your existing pokemon to give them new abilities and powers and maybe even attain new forms never seen before!

Oh also there's still pokerides, ultrabeasts abound in this world and seem to be more normalized than anything, and there is a point where you go outside of the valley and find out the history of your world.

except guess what? I subvert it to where your world wasn't damned by the use of ultra wormholes, the Mithits saw to that by stabilizing them, what damned your world was a massive kaiju-sized pokemon and you find out that the valley was only protected through the efforts of a trio of protector legendary pokemon.

With this Kaiju-mon being a love letter to godzilla and tojo movies, it's a MASSIVE multi-stage bossfight that can't be captured by normal pokeballs, needing to harness the power of Dynamax energy via capturing an eternatus beforehand!

that's another thing! Pokemon can be used to create new machinery and gadgets that can give you gimmicks from previous generations but due to their long history of studying pokemon, they've found out ways to do this that are not only entirely safe for the pokemon involved but entirely humane as well!

"Hey what if I just gave u  a pokemon game that had really complex mechanics that wove in together, a cool story, and actually not only had new gimmicks but visited old gimmicks in a cool and unique way?"

Mewtwo is there and he's actually a high-ranking member of the organization, as both pokemon and trainers can act as agents!
