ENTRANCE

“We were warned about this. Something’s down here— we don’t know what, but we know we can’t face it. I’d like to try to study it, if I can, but… right. Exploring this place and getting what we need comes first. It’s too big to move quickly in as a group, so we’re splitting up… that way it can’t get us all at the same time, in a worst-case scenario.

They keep telling me not to document in a situation like this, but how else are we going to retain information?”

[There are a few notes scrawled hastily onto the bottom of this page:]

CELL 1
“A still-beating heart honestly sounds a little bit ominous? But we’ve seen grosser in our time here, maybe… there’s no way it has to come from that thing, though. Medical cell sounds promising? We’re going to split up and try to find a way in— the place is keycard-locked.”

CELL 2
“Found him… what was left of him. It’s moved on, now. We have to hurry. Security office is password locked, though… but I found a hint? It’s six digits… some sort of sequence, but I haven’t gotten it yet.

NOTHING (looks like it was never entered)

CELL 4
“I heard screaming from the other end of the dungeon— I don’t know what happened, but it… I hope it’s occupied for a minute or two, at least.

I guess he bought us time. I should move. We still don’t have the keys we need.”

CELL 5
Once opened, the journal is... largely illegible. It's mangled, aged, and stained with old blood, and most of the pages have been ripped out. The inside cover says this once belonged to a 'Ryan F-', where the rest of the surname is unreadable.

There is one thing left in this journal that can still be read, though. At the back, spread over 2 pages in dark, flaky red, is:]

“Found me found me found me-

Definitely just almost died? Holy shit. Holy shit I almost died. I could hear it growling this time… Held my breath and covered myself with the blanket and I don’t know if it helped hide my scent or if it just doesn’t smell as well as it hears but it felt like it took forever for it to walk by and oh my god I really need like five minutes before I go back out there I definitely will not come back from dying in this place

…we don’t have that kind of time. Fuck. Okay. Okay. Here goes.”

SECURITY OFFICE

“Made it in. I got a message to the others ...to her. We’re meeting at the medical cell to get what we came for and get the hell out of here.

God, I hope we can get the hell out of here. I just want to go home.”
