- Name: Lucia Hernandez
- Age: 37
- Appearance: Lucia is about 5'6", and notably thin. She is dark even for a Spanish woman. Her body has been worn down over time to the point she looks ready to collapse at any moment. Even so, she moves with a renewed vigor at almost all times, almost as if some sort of hidden well powers her forward.
- Power: Monstrous Rejuvenation - In essence, the Blood Angel can call upon a source of energy from deep within herself, and hyper-stimulate the natural healing facilities in the bodies of others. The healing isn't pretty, it leaves vicious scars and threats of cancerous growths. Given time and quiet, she can disrupt the bodies natural rhythms less and less, at the cost of healing speed.
- Cape Name: The Blood Angel
- Costume: The Blood Angel covers her mouth and nose with a half-mask of bandages. She wears rather professional-looking, reinforced clothing, and her shoulders are sheathed in red-tipped feathers. Her cape is white, branded with a black Caduceus.
- Backstory: Lucia graduated medical school at the age of 29, and quickly realized difficulty of the job she signed up for. She treated capes, rogues, gang members, and their casualties. The patients wouldn't stop coming, so Lucia could never stop working.
- She worked until she was within an inch of her life, performing surgery after surgery until her fingers were numb. She grafted new skin onto faces burnt away, she reset bones that she had to create in broken limbs, and within a day lost track of the number of stitches she would make.
- But it was never enough.
- Nearly three years ago, the hospital was overwhelmed with patients, all victims of a gang attack. A rogue had self-destructed in the area, and sent shrapnel nearly fifty yards in every direction, and Lucia was the head doctor in getting all of the patients treatment. She had to decide who was too far gone, whose organs could be re-purposed. Her hands were shaking within hours.
- It was overwhelming. These victims kept pouring in, screaming, crying, pleading. It rang through her psyche like she was standing next to a moving train. She felt her very veins pulse with their cries. She felt every ounce of her being strain as she tried to help everyone.
- And then the lights flickered.
- The computer screens buzzed and hummed and they flicked on and off.
- They thought it was an earthquake, but Lucia felt something different.
- She felt a deep pulse in her body, like a second heart she never knew she had.
- In an instant, bright red energy pulsed out of her like flares from the sun. They tore through desks and broke through windows as they assailed the hospital. They tore into patients like precise drills, rebuilding skin and muscle that had long been torn away.
- Lucia fell to her hands and knees, blood pooling out of her mouth as the energy bounced through the hospital, angry and sporadic, but driven and powerful. She saved dozens of lives in a matter of minutes, but doomed them to a slower death. Her power left them all with vicious tracks of cancer and tumors, and tore parts of her own body away in the process.
- She vowed to do better from this day.
- She let her power trickle out during every surgery, at first, barely a drop just to staunch bleeding. But eventually, she mended with the precision of a well-trained seamstress. In the years after the event, she kept every single one of the patients from the day of her first singularity.
- Slowly but surely, she began cutting and purging the cancers and tumor from their bodies. She had sharpened her abilities over the years, but she could never forgive herself for what she did to these people. Their deaths would haunt her even more relentlessly than any other.
- And so the Blood Angel was born, ready to keep the people safe by keeping their heroes alive. She would let no more harm come to the people under her care. None that she could prevent.
