  2. Madoka, Sayaka, and Homura visit an old house for a beach vacation. Mami, Kyouko, Nagisa will come later and are currently patrolling Mitakihara and Kazamino until Madoka's group comes back. Kyosuke apparently was supposed to go there but he is too busy with music, so he let the girls go in his place. The owner (old lady model) greets them and explains that it's being renovated to rent out rooms, but they're welcome to stay. She teases sayaka saying she's a cute girlfriend for kyosuke. In one of the rooms they find the toy robot, the owner says there are things that have been left there for generations.
  3.
  4. 2
  5. Team Madoka meets team I Made Friends at the beach. Kako explains that there is a (yes, another) tale at the beach: the "voice of the waves" where if you can hear the voice, you'll stay friends with whoever you're with forever. Ayame and Felicia fight, saying they're not friends as usual. Kako invites Madoka's team to come check for the tale with them. They go to the lighthouse and talk about leaving a message in a bottle, each putting a letter and some treasure in for someone to find years later. A man comes out and tells them that they don't litter anymore, but instead are making a time capsule that won't be opened for 30 years. Ayame draws a picture to put in the bottle because she's not good at essays. Felicia joins her and they stuff two messages into a bottle.
  6.
  7. 3
  8. First night, Homura wakes up and finds Sayaka standing around. Sayaka shows her the toy robot is moving on its own before it takes off outside. They chase after it, Sayaka steps on a branch and thinks the robot noticed her and took off faster. They think it's heading to the ocean before it stops in its tracks from a kitten meowing at it. It then runs back into the villa.
  9.
  10. 4
  11. Next morning, they explain what happened to Madoka, who is mad they didn't wake her up to go chase after it. They start talking with telepathy thinking that will trick the robot into moving again later. After breakfast they get changed and Sayaka yells that they're going to the beach, but she plans on them hiding behind a tree. The robot does in fact come out of the villa, and they give chase. They run into the IMF team who came back for another day trip and get caught by the robot. It comes back and they realize the robot understands them and try to communicate with it.
  12.
  13. Ayame and Felicia fight over who gets to give it a cool name. Player choices are "Leave it to Ayame" or "Leave it to Felicia". Ayame names it Super Roboda? but it doesn't seem to like it. Felicia names it MooMoo-kun since it "has eyes, a mouth, and a horn," to which the robot just ignores her.
  14.
  15. Madoka then asks Sayaka to give it a name. Player choices are "Robocchi, because it's a robot" or "Buusuke, because it's blue." Robocchi is another miss. Buusuke gets a weak reaction. Either way, Felicia jumps in and says since it's so unreasonable they should just call it "piece of junk" and move on. Sayaka suggests naming it "Ponta" after the "pon" noise it makes, which it seems to like.
  16.
  17. 5
  18. They spent the whole day following Ponta, who ends up standing atop a rock looking out towards the ocean. They wonder what it's looking for. Kako thinks maybe it's listening for the "voice of the waves" like they were yesterday. Madoka's team wonder if they can try to help it look again tomorrow, since they have to go back to patrolling Mitakihara and Kazamino while Mami and the others switch out with them. IMF team rush home after realizing how late it is. After sending them home and informing Yachiyo and Konoha (AKA the parents), Ponta jumps on Sayaka, who it seems to have taken a liking to.
  19.
  20. That night, Sayaka finds the kitten inside, and the janitor of the villa says it got separated from its parents so it hangs out at the villa. He also says he would like to adopt the kitten when it's grown up enough. Felicia messages Madoka to let her know she got home safely, but also mentions she saw a sleepy-looking ghost on her way to the train station, and that it looked vaguely like Kako. The third morning begins.
  21.
  22. 6
  23. Mami and Nagisa arrive, Kyouko got the date wrong and is on her way. Mami asks Sayaka to stay, Sayaka explains Ponta to her, Mami suggests she stays while Madoka and Homura take care of both Mitakihara and Kazamino (how are they handling 2 cities each night??).
  24.
  25. Later that day, Ponta is back searching the beach. Kids at the beach notice Ponta, so Sayaka tosses a floatie at them to distract them. The kitten then shows up again, scaring Ponta. Mami asks Nagisa to play with the kitten until Ponta can get away. Sayaka catches up and finds Ponta at the lighthouse alone, Sayaka remarks that it must have heard the voice of the waves and wants to go home.
  26.
  27. They start heading back and find everyone standing around. Madoka telepathically tells Sayaka to don't say anything because Nagisa is sleeping under a tree next to the kitten. She spent the entire time playing with the kitten, with Mami calling her the hero of the day.
  28.
  29. 7
  30. Madoka and Homura leave. That night, Sayaka wakes up to Ponta leaving again, gets changed and heads to the lighthouse with it again. Sayaka mentions she can hear the waves farther away at night since it's so quiet, closes her eyes, and feels like something weird is happening, like there's magic nearby.
  31.
  32. Kushu erases a barrier and notices Sayaka with her eyes closed. She asks Sayaka if she's hurt or anything, surprising her. Sayaka asks Kushu if she's the ghost she's heard about, to Kushu's confusion. She notices the girl doesn't look sleepy, so it must have been a misunderstanding. Her name is (I'm guessing here) Irina Kushu. Sayaka explains Ponta, magic robot, voice of the waves, etc. Kushu mentions there's an adjuster nearby that could probably help -- Livia.
  33.
  34. 8
  35. Puella Care just happens to be in the neighborhood. Livia says she'll handle the customers and tells Yozuru and Sudachi they can get to bed. The villa they've been staying at, Sayaka learns, is outside the city, on the other side of the mountains, but still within Kamihama limits, and thus still safe from witching. Sayaka asks how she should address Kushu, "san" or "chan," since she's 2nd year of middle school. Kushu says whatever's fine, but she's probably 1 year older, but if she stays in school, Sayaka might catch up to her? Sayaka says no, you don't usually stay in junior high the whole time. Kushu has a hurt look on her face, Sayaka asks Livia if she said something wrong. Kushu probably has some touchy subject regarding her age or school, but Livia doesn't know anything about her.
  36.
  37. Livia suspects the robot is a toy a mahou shoujo uses magic on, since she's seen some girls capable of that in her line of work. She then switches to "used", since the doll appears to be very old -- some decades old. She says the magic is specifically to follow a purpose set on it, in this case the doll awakens to find the voice of the waves, and upon finding it, deliver something or a message to someone. Livia comments that it's a piece of junk, and the magic on it will probably be gone in 2-3 days tops. Livia offers to find out exactly what kind of magic is in it, since she's all about giving her customers value.
  38.
  39. 9
  40. Next morning, Sayaka explains last night to Mami and Nagisa. Livia saw fragmented memories inside the doll. She saw a memory of a hot summer, and two girls heading to the ocean. The two girls were named Ecchan and Misa-chan. She didn't recognize their uniforms, so they must be decades old. They were looking around the beach area for the voice of the waves. They knew if they heard the voice together, they would be friends forever. They called it the "Legend of BFFs" (it's a shortening of "friends forever" in JP). She also heard them singing about Andromeda and something about the mouth of a fish. Kushu recognizes that as Hoshi Meguri no Uta by Miyazawa Kenji ("Song of Star-Crossing" maybe?). Livia is surprise Kushu knows that, then continues that the girls found a shrine, saying something about the leaves of paper mulberry (heyo event connections).
  41.
  42. Livia continues to the 2nd memory, saying that Misa was a mahou shoujo, asking another for a favor -- to cast a spell on the doll that is now Ponta. The other girl worked for payment, much like adjusters do, using useful magic for others. She couldn't see anything else of use from that memory, though, guessing it was about finding that voice in the waves. Sayaka and Kushu agree that they need to do more research.
  43.
  44. 10
  45. Sayaka returns to the villa and explains the story to Mami and Nagisa. Nagisa says she wants to go hear the voice with Mami (aww). Kako calls with some info for Sayaka, that the mulberry leaf and voice of the waves gave her a hint about a legend from hundreds of years ago: The Legend of the Paper Mulberry Leaf. It was based on a true story that happened in Kamihama, where two girls met in war and worked together to defeat an evil lord. One theory is that they met by nada no yobigoe, or "The Call of the Sea"... a place where the currents are strong (wow look at all these event connections). Sayaka concludes that the call of the sea must be the voice of the waves, to which Kako agrees. That old legend continued on but as a folktale / urban legend in modern days. Where those two met was where the shrine is built that they came across earlier.
  46.
  47. Mami, Nagisa, and Sayaka wonder why everyone is supposedly hearing this voice, thinking it could either just be the wind or possibly magic. The villa owner comes by and mentions when she was their age she went out with a friend to try to find the voice too. The owner says the girl she went with always asked her to sing. She starts singing lyrics from the star song Livia mentioned earlier, including the same parts she had heard. Sayaka asks her if she went by Ecchan back then. The owner says she did -- her name is Etsuko, hence Ecchan. She says she can't remember if she heard the voice with her friend (Misa) back then or not. In fact, she can't remember her friend -- her face, her name, anything. The mahou shoujo Misa-chan, who entrusted Ponta with an important task, was gone from her best friend Etsuko's memory.
  48.
  49. =======================
  50.
  51. 11
  52. The owner recalls the path that they took, that they knew the legend, and visited the shrine dedicated to the legend. They couldn't hear the voice of the waves, so they took a small boat out to a small island to try to hear it. Mami comments that they were quite the tomboys. The owner tells Sayaka she shouldn't go to the lengths she did since it's dangerous. She says they were young and always looking forward to the future, yet she can't even remember her friend's face.
  53.
  54. That evening, Sayaka visits Puella Care to talk about Etsuko's missing memories. After discussing the hows and whys, Livia tells Ponta it can stop pretending to be dead, since it's only mahou shoujo in the room. Ponta lights back up. Yozuru concludes that Ponta wants to go back to that island, rather than finding the voice of the waves.
  55.
  56. Sayaka asks Livia if she can also adjust soul gems to change appearances. Livia says she didn't know that Mitama does that too. Sayaka wants an outfit to help her get across the sea with Ponta since a boat would be hard to get. She says she would like, for example, the ability to breathe underwater, or to split the sea in half, since her normal outfit can't do anything like that. Livia agrees, for a small price of course, since she can't let her reputation as Mitama's master go to waste. Sayaka pays and goes to lie down, finding Kushu already there.
  57.
  58. Kushu came in, saying she was sleepy, then fell asleep there. She says she's still sleepy at this time of day, and keeps dozing off. Sayaka realizes she is the "sleepy-looking ghost" that was mentioned before.
  59.
  60. 12
  61. Sayaka explains the plan to go to the island with Ponta to help discover the lost memories to Kushu, who is still dozing off. Livia offers her coffee, but she asks for tea. Kushu says that even if Sayaka finds something on that island, Etsuko wont remember Misa. Everyone asks how she's so sure. She doesn't have a reason for it to be true, but rather it's just her opinion. Since mahou shoujo are the way they are, they tend to be forgotten.
  62.
  63. Kushu begins explaining that in one of her favorite fairytales, children would see fairies, but when they get older they stop seeing them. So people attribute things mahou shoujo do as being the same as fairies who don't exist once those people get older, just coincidences and natural phenomena. Livia and Yozuru relate, saying that witches cause damage that is just treated as natural disasters in the world, and that the public never knows the truth and only assumes incidents are just unexplainable. Livia laments that they are just like fairies, that no one knows what they do for the world since no one believes in magic.
  64.
  65. Kushu says she hates Kyubey (twice, which Sayaka makes note of), but that she's proud to be a mahou shoujo. She has never told her family what she is, neither has Sayaka, nor Yozuru. Livia comments that there's already 5 of them in the same room, and that the whole world is full of them, yet somehow the world still doesn't know they exist, even if it would be a problem for a lot of parents to find out. Livia says the problem with the world is that there's no magic, and common sense has ruined it. Kushu says that the world thinks magic is just lies, and that mahou shoujo are really just fairies. Magic exists, but no one wants to see it, thus Etsuko can't remember Misa because it's natural for mahou shoujo to be forgotten.
  66.
  67. Sayaka is determined to not give up, and wants to help Ponta til the end. Sayaka gets her surfer transformation, and Livia waterproofed Ponta as an added bonus. It's late, so Sayaka and Ponta head back to the villa. Kyubey pops into Puella Care.
  68.
  69. 13
  70. The next morning, everyone meets at the beach, tomorrow being their last day and the owner is coming back this afternoon. Kyouko never bothered to show up. Sayaka says she practiced surfing earlier, the adjustment she got lets her surf just by intuition alone. Sayaka and Ponta head down to the lighthouse to find a spot to get in the water. Ponta is acting strange, probably due to the magic in it nearly running out. Sayaka finds a crowd of people at the water's edge affected by a witch's kiss. She's worried that she won't be able to save the people in time, only for Kyouko to spring up in her old adjusted magical swimsuit. Kyouko says she got there late yesterday so she stayed somewhere else, and Sayaka can pay her back with some shaved ice. Sayaka looks mad, but then says she's so happy Kyouko is so free-spirited and has good timing, but Kyouko doesn't take it as a compliment. Either way, Kyouko tells Sayaka she heard what was going on, so she will take care of the witch for her.
  71.
  72. 14
  73. The previous day, back at Puella Care when Kyubey shows up, Kushu immediately transforms, and Kyubey runs away. Livia says no fighting in the vehicle. Yozuru comments that Kyubey is important to them for grief seed disposal and information gathering. Kyubey says that there was a girl that matches Misa's description about 50 years ago that was called Misa. She became a mahou shoujo to make up for an accident she caused her best friend Etsuko.
  74.
  75. When the two girls went out to the small island, Etsuko slipped off a rock and fell into a coma. Adults came to rescue them, and Etsuko woke up, but found she had lost her voice. Despite the doctor's efforts, she couldn't get her voice back, and she had wanted to become a vocalist. Misa asked Kyubey to make the accident that happened not exist, erasing the past, and thus letting them go back home with Etsuko unharmed. Misa gained the power to erase pieces of someone's memory with her wish.
  76.
  77. Livia suspects that Misa has been forgotten because she erased her own existence from the memories of people around her. She became a mahou shoujo, and with it the harsh reality they face, so she couldn't bear to tell Etsuko what happened to her and possibly make her feel guilty. Kyubey says that after she erased everyone's memories of her, she died alone in a barrier, with no one to remember her.
  78.
  79. Kyubey explains that Misa asked another mahou shoujo to make the magic robot doll for her. The doll was to be left to Etsuko, and would only come alive to make her wish come true. Livia and Yozuru guess that the doll is trying to get to the island to deliver memories back to Etsuko, but Kyubey says no one knows for sure what Misa really wanted, though that is a possibility that she could have desired. Kyouko knocks on the door, saying she saw Sayaka come out of here earlier and was just curious.
  80.
  81. 15
  82. Sayaka shreds through the water on her magical surfboard and makes it to the island. Ponta leads her to some rocky area on the island. Through deductive reasoning, Sayaka figures out through Ponta's noises that she's supposed to dig where they stopped at. She digs using her surfboard, finding a buried time capsule. Inside is a bottle with two letters inside, just like what Ayame and Felicia did earlier. Sayaka then hears a voice saying "I'll be waiting for you..." (The same as the previous event). Sayaka then comments what was the point of hearing it with Ponta.
  83.
  84. 16
  85. Sayaka and Ponta make it back to the villa, Kyouko isn't letting her off about the shaved ice she owes. Madoka and Homura came back to the villa too. Everyone goes inside to wait for Etsuko to get back. Kyouko regrets not coming the day before since the rooms are so big. Sayaka asks her where she stayed the night before, Kyouko says she stayed at the adjuster's. She asked if Livia could adjust her so she can change to her magic swimsuit at will, and was offered to sleep there since it was so late. Sayaka remembers that Kyouko can't swim unless she has that magic swimsuit's power, so it all worked out for her.
  86.
  87. Etsuko gets back and asks what Sayaka wanted to tell her. Sayaka hands her the time capsule, asking if she recognizes it. Before she can even start explaining where she got it, Etsuko started crying. She could tell immediately that Etsuko could remember everything. Etsuko recalls everything they did, collecting shells and writing the letters, and they heard a voice saying "I'll be waiting for you." She remembered they told each other they could then be friends forever, and looked up at the starry sky. Kyouko has a look of shock on her face, and Sayaka wonders if Kyouko knows something.
  88.
  89. 17
  90. Inside the capsule Etsuko finds a necklace that looks like a starry sky, something Misa used to love. Also inside is a letter, addressed to "Ecchan in the future." Written inside is "Are Ecchan (you) and I still friends in the future?" She says "Yes, Misa-chan... Even now, we're still the bestest of friends." Also written, it says when you read this again, I'd like it if you sang the "Song of Star-Crossing" again. She starts singing the song again, but I'm not going to attempt the lyrics in this summary, sorry.

  96. Everyone loves the song, and Etsuko hopes the song reaches the sky wherever Misa-chan is. She remembers that shortly after that, Misa went disappeared and never showed up again. She thanks all of them, but Sayaka tells her she can thank "this one" instead, the doll. Etsuko remembers that the doll was given to her, Misa telling her it's "a magic charm, so always take good care of it." After which Misa disappeared.
  97.
  98. Sayaka realized Ponta won't ever move again now that Etsuko got her memories back. Everyone looks down, but Sayaka says her magic served its purpose and helped Etsuko remember. Etsuko agrees, thinking the doll carried on a memory of "I don't want to forget that I was with you there, at the water's edge" and "I want my best friend to regain her memories."

  101. Etsuko then says that it's about time everyone come clean and tell her what's really going on.
  102. She says that the last time she saw the robot doll, it must have been moving on its own, right? Sayaka says she must have been seeing things. But Etsuko says how else would they have found that time capsule, since surely only her and Misa knew about it. She says there's no way, unless it was magic. Etsuko asks Sayaka where Misa disappeared to. Kyouko is still keeping quiet and looking down, which Sayaka calls her out on, but Kyouko says it's nothing.
  103.
  104. Kyouko suddenly jumps in, commenting that if Etsuko already remembers the whole trip to their capsule spot, she can't hide it anymore. She says there's one other person that knows all about what happened, who was at the adjuster's -- Kyubey. Etsuko then surprises them all by pretending she remember everything to get the youngsters to confess that they really do know something. Etsuko asks Kyouko to please tell her the whole story, regardless how sad it is.
  105.
  106. Kyouko tells her that Misa wished for a miracle to happen so that Etsuko could get her singing voice back, but there's no way she would believe a story like that. Etsuko says she's glad she told her and thanks her.

  109. That night, Sayaka wakes up to find Kyouko isn't there. They think about how Misa couldn't tell Etsuko that she made a wish for her to get her voice back. Kyouko says that even if you tell someone, it doesn't mean they'll believe you, and even if they believe you, it doesn't mean they'll be happy. Just because you make a wish for someone doesn't mean they would have wanted it, and that becoming a mahou shoujo means the price you have to pay is to keep your wish a secret to them. Kyouko asks Sayaka what's wrong, she replies that she made the same wish as Misa. Kyouko asks her if she regrets her wish, Sayaka says she doesn't.
  110.
  111. Sayaka wonders why people wouldn't believe them, because miracles and magic are real. Under the starry sky, there's mahou shoujo everywhere, each one carrying a story, but how can any of them ever be forgotten with no one to remember them? Sayaka half-jokingly says she wishes there was someone up in the sky watching over them.

  114. That day, Kushu comes back to Puella care, says good day, then immediately starts dozing off the moment she walks in. Kushu asks what they could do for her, and Yozuru is glad she is coming back for more business. Livia tells her to be careful, since her customer the other day (Kyouko) was an absolute mess to fix up Mitama's adjustments to make that swimsuit outfit work. Yozuru says the adjustment was finished, and she was able to transform into it freely, but Livia says it was a pain to have to redo someone else's work (I feel this).
  115.
  116. Kyubey is back, angering Kushu into transforming immediately. Livia tells her to no fighting again. Livia asks Kyubey again why would Misa remove memories of herself. Kyubey explains the HOW, but Livia wants to know the WHY (both words in ENGLISH). Yozuru thinks it was because Misa didn't want Etsuko to feel indebted. Livia doesn't understand why one would want to go out of their way to be completely forgotten. She looks around, but Kyubey already took off again, Yozuru saying it was because Kushu kept staring at him.

Madoka asks why she suddenly wanted to go to this, and Sayaka says it's because she thought about Etsuko and Misa. Sayaka says when she was little she was moved by Kyosuke's violin playing, so when she found out he couldn't play anymore, she got sad and prayed for a miracle to happen. And since her wish came true, it wouldn't be right for her to not go listen to him play. Madoka says she'll go with her as many times as she wants.
