Team AERO: Chapter V

You open your eyes. It's dark. Where are you?

Oh. Right. The nurse's office.

You sit up and look around, thankful for your faunus heritage There's a stick note on the door to the small room you're in.

You get up and walk over to read it.

"Going home. If you wake up before morning, go home, kid."

You fish out your scroll.

[AURA LEVELS: 56%]

Still not great. Swipe.

[3:17]

[Go back to sleep here.]
*[Go back to your dorm.]
[Go for a run.]
[??]

You slip out of the nurse's office and head back to your dorm. Man, this place is sorta creepy at night.

You pick up your step a little bit, quickly arriving at your dorm. You hold up your scroll and step inside the dark room.

Looks like they're all asleep. You quietly make your way to your bed. Your weapon is laying on top, along with something else. You pick it up.

It's Crystal's homework. She must not have wanted you to fall behind.

[Wake her.]
*[Copy the answers.]
[Wake them all. (Why?)]
[Go back to sleep.]

You dig out your homework and get to work. You don't just copy Crystals, as much as you use it to check your work. Good thing she shows her work, since you miss a few here and there.

You work for a while, checking your scroll once you finish.

[4:23]

You put your homework away and set Crystal's on her desk.

*[Go to sleep. You need to rest.] (Alarm time?)
[Change. Oliver will be up soon.]

You set your alarm for 6 am. Not a whole lot of time, but you did just sleep for twelve hours.

You lay down and drift back to dreamland.


Bzz. Bzz.

You wake up and grab fresh clothes before going into the bathroom to go through your routine.

As expected, Regalia isn't there when you get out. Your stomach gurgles. You didn't eat dinner last night.

You quickly make your way to the cafeteria.

[All the food.]
[Normal food.]
*[Something in between.]

You load up a tray. It's more than your usual meal, but you didn't empty the cafeteria.

You spot Regalia and slide in across from her.

"Morning!"

She smiles, "Good morning. Feeling better?"

["100%!"]
*["Yea. Still not all the way, though."]
["No."]
[??]

"Yea. Still not all the way, though."

She rests her cheek on her hand. "I'm sure you'll feel better after eating."

You nod, going to work on your tray while she finishes her toast.

It doesn't take long before the two of you are walking back to the dorm. You slip out your scroll a few feet before your door.

[AURA LEVEL: 89%]

That's better.

You go inside, only for Oliver to step out of the bathroom a moment later.

"Oh. Glad to see you're feeling better."

He's only wearing a towel.

*[Panic.]
*["Thanks."]
["Can we train again tomorrow?"]
*[??]

You hide behind your hands instinctively. "T-thanks, you too."

Oliver tilts his head in confusion as Regalia starts laughing at you. Oliver shrugs and goes to get dressed.

Crystal sits up from the noise. She looks around the room before turning to you. "Feeling better."

"Yea." You lower your hands to look at her. She smiles.

"Good."

You get ready for class as Crystal showers.

Oliver is on his bed, playing on his scroll when you and Regalia head to class a bit early. He said he'd wait for Crystal.

You and Regalia secure a spot for your team and wait for class to start.

*[Go over your homework and notes.]
[Play on your scroll.

You take out your notebook and homework and go over them. You're really getting into this.

The time passes quickly, and Crystal and Oliver soon join your team.

Your morning classes pass quickly, and your team makes it's way to the cafeteria for lunch.

[Anything you wanna talk about?]
[Just eat.]

"Does anyone know a good weapons engineer?"

Oliver looks up from his food, "Wa fer?"

"Well, I was thinking that I should consider upgrading my weapon. It's an older design, and I'm sure I could be more efficient with a newer one."

Crystal states flatly, "None of us are from here. It's unlikely we know anyone that can help you. Who made the one you have now?"

[You did.]
*[It's your (uncle)'s old weapon.]
[Oh, right, you know a weapon engineer. Duh.]

"It's my uncle's old weapon."

Regalia tilts her head, "Did he give it to you, or..?"

You nod, "He let me have it when he got a new one."

"Why don't we look for a weaponsmith this weekend when you show us around town?" Crystal smiles.

*["That's a great idea!"]
["Yea, I guess."]
[Cancel your plans.]

"That's a great idea!"

You finish your meals then head to your final class for the day.

You take your usual seats and DeFleur pays special attention to you, which makes you a bit fidgety.

"Ms. Swann. I hope you've recovered."

You check your scroll.

[AURA LEVEL: 97%]

*["I am, ma'am."]
["I haven't." (lie)]

"I am, ma'am."

"Good. You and Ms. Eton are up first, then."

You mouth a sorry to Crystal, who shrugs as you enter the arena.

[Battle plan. (??)]
*[Wing it.]
["Wait. What are we fighting?"]

Guess you'll have to wing it.

You step into the arena as your spear unfolds. You hold it in front of you as Crystal readies herself next to you.

You wait until the horn sounds. The projectors spring to life, creating a Nevermore that swoops down at you and your partner.

You both dodge to the side, rolling to avoid it's beak.

The large arena gives it plenty of room to fly as it pulls up and circles above.

You spin your spear around and fire your shot. It just misses, but you use your semblance to send it back at the flying beast again and again. You shot is passing through the hologram, but it shows no sign of slowing down as it swoops down again.

You prepare to dodge again, but the hologram is caught in a torrent of explosions. While you were peppering it, Crystal had blown a layer of bubbles between you and it. It pulls up and starts to fly away again.

You pull your shot back into spear before taking aim as it circles back. You fire again, the shot goes through the join in the wing, wounding it. The hologram comes crashing down towards you.

You jump backwards, looking left to notice Crystal blowing bubbles at the ground.

The hologram lands as the bubbles hit. They explode into formations of ice as the Nevermore becomes trapped.

You rush forward before it can break free, dry firing your spear under it's neck and sending it through the hologram before it disappears.

You regroup with Crystal after retrieving your weapon.

["Great work."]
["(You/we/I) got lucky, huh?"]
[??]
[Just go sit down.]

"Great work with the mid=air bubbles to shield us. That was some quick thinking." You pat her on the back.

She smiles, "We work well together."

"Yea!"

The two of you return to your seats. Regalia pats your head as you sit next to her.

*["You guys should go next!"]
[Let them decide.]

"You guys should go next."

Regalia smiles, "You want us to put on a show for you, hm?" Her hand brushes your reddening cheek as she stands and makes her way to the arena, Oliver not to far behind.

They stand ready not to long after. The horn sounds, and Oliver fires his three bolts of plasma that strike the Nevermore the moment it's formed. It doesn't look like it took any damage.

Regalia is already weaving a thick network of thread. The Nevermore tries to dive as Oliver peppers it, but it pulls up at the last moment to land on the net she made. It tries to peck through at them, but they're both too fast to be caught.

Regalia finally finishes her weaving. She nods to Oliver, who is already near the far wall with his weapon in sword form. He slices one of the threads with his blade.

The hologram falls to the ground as the projector decodes Regalia's trap. Her threads fall as they would, but the hologram threads trap the Nevermore in a simple net trap. You swear this projector is cheating for them.

Oliver walks over and beheads it.

They soon return to your team.

["Good job!"]
[Ignore.]
[??]

"G-good show!"

Regalia chuckles behind her hand, the other patting you head. "You enjoyed that, did you?"

You nod as she sits by you.

The rest of the class goes by quickly. You go back to your dorm and do your homework.

What should you do now?

[Stay in.]
*[Go out.]

"We should go out!"

"Again?" Crystal asks, though she doesn't seem opposed.

"What did you have in mind?" Regalia rests her cheek in her hand.

"We could try and find a place that makes weapons while we get something to eat."

"Food sounds good to me. What are we going for?"

[What's for dinner?]
["Whatever we find."]

"I know a place!"

You lead your team through the city streets once again, this time on the lookout for a weaponsmith. While you're not going door-to-door or anything, you don't see anything on your way there.

You reach your destination, your team filing in behind you until you're escorted to a table in a rather fancy looking place.

"Are you sure we're not a little to.. casual for this place?" Crystal asks, looking at the others enjoying meals.

"Relax! This place serves hunters on the go all the time!" You smile before being shown your table.

Oliver picks up the menu, which you snatch away. "What gives?"

"Trust me on this."

The waiter soon comes to take your order.

"4 plates of traditional Vacuoan Spaghetti, extra sauce and meat please!"

The man starts writing as you lean in to the table, "There's always too much noodle, not enough sauce or meat."

You chat before your food arrives a short while later.

Your team stares at it before digging in.

You wait for their reaction.

"It's a little salty." Regalia offers a pity smile.

"Yea, the meat's a little too done too. The smokey flavor's just too much." Crystal is pushing it around her plate.

Oliver is too busy shoving it in to comment.

["Hey! This is the food of my home!"]
*["Yea, but.. It grows on you."]
["Y-you don't have to eat it.."]

"Yea, but.. It grows on you."

You look at your plate and start eating quietly. The rest of your team looks at their own food before sucking it up and digging in.

You finish your meals pretty quickly.

*["Desert?"]
["Let's head back."]

"You guys up for desert? And I'll let you guys choose this time."

"Why not just stay here and order off the menu?" Regalia asks.

"That works!" Oliver reaches over to swipe some menus from the empty table next to you.

You look over the options.

*[Molten lava cake.]
[Deluxe Turtle Browne.]
[Ice cream stuffed cinnamon wafers.]
[Cherry cheesecake.]

You order the lava cake. Regalia orders the cheesecake. Crystal the turtle brownie. Oliver gets the cinnamon wafers.

You chat for a bit before it arrives. You eagerly plunge your spoon into the warm, chocolate covered cake, releasing the resivoir within.

You finish your food and pay your tabs before heading back to the dorms. It's pretty late when you get back. Oliver flops on his bed and falls asleep immediately.

[Go to bed.]
*[Stay up with the girls.]

You decide to stay up with Regalia and Crystal. Regalia is reading some book you can't read the name of from your bed, and Crystal is playing on her phone.

The three of you chat some, but eventually, they too decide to go to bed. You set your alarm for the last day of school this week and tuck in.

[4:25 for training.]
*[6 am for breakfast.]
[7 am for beauty sleep.]

You set your alarm for 6 am then promptly fall asleep.
