- Start: 9 am, Day of Labor (Wednesday) Midsummer 9, 401 GA
- The party cautiously advanced towards the sound of the goblin warband and the rock troll.
- They spotted the troll and goblins in combat with a gargoyle. The gargoyle spotted the party in the dim illumination and called for their aid. He requested the aid of the 'archons', somehow identifying them on sight. Rather than letting the fight play out like they originally intended, they decided to assist the gargoyle.
- The gargoyle was badly wounded in the combat, but the party emerged victorious. Ryardynin came upon a hastily discarded pack and alchemist's fire during the carnage, particularly finding a note saying the following:
- "Patience is a virtue, Bertulf. They will come. We must only wait for the opportunity. My ruse did not succeed, but we will have other chances. Years of servitude in Kor will be worthwhile, I know you feel the same
- pain as I. Our suffering will bear fruit in time.
- - Your sister-in-sin"
- He shared this information with the party.
- They revived the gargoyle, who identified himself as "Yolrud, a servant of Order".
- He seemed to know Ukurdiel had in his possession the amulet of arachnidia, which once belonged to 'a deadly rogue' named Kesmei.
- He went on to specify further artifacts are needed for their quest. He mentioned the staff of Mortwin the illusionist, which may be found beneath the lost hills to the west. He warned the party of goblins posing a danger in those parts.
- He said 'The heirlooms of former archons are only as strong as their wielder.' and claimed they would grow in power with their wielder.
- He went on to identify this place as the Temple of Elemental Order, a place of worship in the times of prophecy. He specified 'Order' as a force opposed to the Beyond. He implored the archons to call a crusade and rally others to their cause. Once their business was done, he said he would depart to the Giants Cradle to rally others for their cause, and cautioned them that finding allies may be perilous.
- The party asked him about how to turn off the pitch. He seemed to know the answer, and cautioned them not to trust his brothers.
- They entered the next room, which seemed to have apparatuses for turning off the pitch, and a caved in passage. Ryardynin spotted three empty platforms, which appeared to formerly hold gargoyles, on the left side of the room. One read "Eaoric the Bloodthirsty", another "Olgarr, the Mischievous", and the last "Yolrud, Servant of Order". The dust had not yet settled on the platform labeled "Olgarr, the Mischevious".
- Ryardynin warned Ukurdiel moments before Olgarr was to kick him into the pitch vat. Instead of asking questions, they fought and slew the gargoyle.
- Before Olgarr perished, he said "You'll never find the Staff of Mortwin, or my brothers."
- The party decided to rest before taking further action. Upon awaking and making preparations, Ukurdiel set the pitch on fire, and a gelatinous cube emerged from its depths.
- The party did battle with the cube, which wounded and knocked Ukurdiel unconscious. They emerged victorious.
- Two charges of the dorje of Body Adjustment was used on Ukurdiel to heal him.
