  1. Underwhelmed Edition

  3. Hey guys, how’s it goin?
  4.
  5. It happened again with Pokemon Puzzle Challenge and one of Koopary’s runs. On Tuesday, I tied Koopary’s posted Intense Scroll On time with a 12:52 RTA. That night, I checked Koopary’s run again and, sure enough, though the start of the timer was right, the end timing of the run was late enough that the timing ended on the previous second. Just when you think the quest for WR is done, it turns that there’s another second to go. It made the celebration of the new PB a little underwhelming.

  7. Speaking of underwhelming, my Wizard of Oz DS playthrough finished on Saturday. I stopped the previous stream right before the final boss. I thought that the final fight against Oz would be harder. I knew from listening to the game’s soundtrack repeatedly (GREAT soundtrack, by the way) that Oz had multiple forms. I thought that Oz obtaining the ultimate magic would make him have more damaging magic spells. The ultimate magic… raises all of your stats. It’s dangerous to leave alone, sure, but you get a character with an ability to nullify it all. Oz has multiple spells that can’t be reflected—why couldn’t a buffed version of those be the ultimate magic? It would have made the fight more interesting. I mean, Scarecrow can randomly do a single-targeting spell that does more damage than anything Oz throws at you. Dorothy sacrifices her HP to do an AoE that does more damage than anything Oz throws at you. The structure of the boss fight truly illustrated the fact established earlier in the story that Oz was but a weak illusionist, but it sure made for a fight that, in hindsight, I found to be terribly designed. I’m still trying to figure out if Holly or Protea was actually the harder fight. Truth be told, the fight I had the most trouble with was Flora, the first boss in the game. Man, the mandatory bosses in this game are weak. And no, I am not motivated enough to grind for the optional bosses. That said, the novelty of this game being a radically different take on The Wizard of Oz story kept me going long enough to enjoy it to the end. I don’t think I could justify buying it for what it’s currently selling for, though.

  9. In other stream news, RPG Limit Break 2019 started yesterday. As a fan of RPGs, I see quite a few speedruns of games I like to look at that I don’t normally have the time to look at. That said, I may take a few days off this week to look at some of those runs live. You will want to keep tuned in to my Twitter and Discord (https://discord.gg/jKyBaMh) for when I do go live this week. I may do runs offline while I watch—that or work on the speedrun that I planned to work on before Wizard of Oz was donated for. Hella rusty on that game. Haven’t decided yet.

  11. That’s my life story for the week. Until next time, everyone, thanks for reading!
