  17. "Hey, so let me ask you something, big man."
  18.
  19. Eggman looked up curiously at the glass tube, and the golden-armored occupant thereof. He'd won. It hadn't even taken long - this eldritch entity pretending to be a man, he expected a harder fight or a longer chase. Instead, he'd captured it as it exited the Zone of Silence. He was still ready for things to go horribly wrong of course, but this creature wasn't a hedgehog, so he was statistically likely to be successful, and the weapon emplacements would ensure that he wouldn't go down easy if the entity did escape. And while he didn't answer, but simply motioned for the creature to continue.
  20.
  21. "So you figure out how to keep me from spawning clones, contain my magic here in the tube, shut down my technology whole-heartedly and insulate your own creations from my technopathy... I mean, I'm honestly impressed, I really did not expect this, and certainly not so quickly. Orbital defenses to keep the fleet from striking or drop pods from landing. I'd applaud, but that would be a bit silly. But I mean, heck, you even figured out I was giving the various incarnations of Sonic planeswalker sparks for the hell of it, because the multiverse didn't have remotely enough chaos. How did you insulate the whole world from interdimensional travel?"
  22.
  23. With a smirk, Eggman opened his mouth, before pausing. The smirk faded. His face paled. "You... gave... the hedgehog..."
  24.
  25. Grinning, the creature-wearing-a-man's-face within the tube grinned. "Did you know that every time, he doesn't even realize what happened, he just thought he could run fast enough that he can end up in other worlds? It's freaking hilarious."
  26.
  27. Fear battled rage. Rage won. "You damned FOOL! You have no idea what you've unleashed on the universe! On all the universes!"
  28.
  29. His answer was a grin, before the alarms bathed the room in red, warning of an imminent hedgehog. And then a second. And then a third.
  30.
  31. Eggman shook his head, sending everything he had to intercept them, knowing that it would be too late.
  32.
  33. "They were always going to stop you, this time," the creature commented cheerfully. "Tell you what though, next time you try, I promise to just give you a quick aneurysm so that you won't suffer."
  34.
  35. Absently, the scientist muttered, "As if you could do anything with your abilities locked down."
  36.
  37. He was answered only by a maddening grin.
  38.
  39. And a tug on his moustache by phantom fingers.
