Be My Valentine

>Her eyes stared up at him
>Wide, shining irises begging for his attention as they followed his every move
>She was smiling at him, an eager look settling firmly on her face
>He looked down at her, unimpressed
>Eyebrows drawn forward, his jaw set firm
>They stood across from one another, tension ever building in the low light of the school they were in
"So what do you think, Anon? Will you be my special someone for Hearts and Hooves day?"
>Anon's lips quirked into a small smile
>Twilight's eyes shined with glee, certain that her card had won over the elusive man
>Anon tilted his head, observing the garish, frilly pink heart card
>His small grin widened, and he started laughing
>Twilight was still looking up at him, her gaze growing confused as the glee dimmed
>Anon's laughing grew in tempo and volume
>He threw his head back, clutching his stomach as his laughing increased
"A-are you alright, Anon?"
>Anon's laughing died down, replaced with a look of mirth as he wiped away a tear from his eye
>Twilight was still giving him a confused look as she gently rested her hand on his arm
>Anon's laughter halted as his gaze flicked to her arm
>He batted it off, causing Twilight to recoil
"Funny."
>Twilight's breath hitched as Anon crushed her card in his hand before letting it drop to the floor
"Like I'd ever go out with you."
>Twilight's lip quivered at Anon, tears already gathering in her eyes
>Anon spun on his heel, grinding the card underfoot as he stalked away, leaving Twilight behind him
>Twilight's shoulders slouched, her eyes glistened with unshed tears as students brushed past her, unaware of her harsh rejection
>Oh well, Twilight though to herself, it wasn't like that was a surprise
>She sniffled .
"Oh, and by the way?"
>Anon looked back over his shoulder at her, a grin on his face
>Twilight flinched away from his look
"I'm fucking Rainbow Dash. She's much better than an ugly nerd like you will ever be."
>Twilight nearly collapsed into sobs as Anon strode away with a laugh

>She just wanted to find a nice, quiet space to crawl up in and die
>Preferably after crying for a nice, long while
>She spotted a janitor's closet and, after making sure no one was looking her way, went in
>Twilight, upon contact with the dark, enclosed space, collapsed into a sobbing mess
>She curled into a tight ball, biting her fist to prevent herself from wailing
>Twilight couldn't get his words, on repeat in her mind, out of her head
"Ugly nerd"
"Like I'd ever go out with you"
>Twilight sobbed, trails of tears forming tracks down her cheeks.
