Krupp Foundation:
Rallying behind the child king Heonjong a pro-western faction in Korea has ousted the isolationist regency of Queen Sunwon and the Andong Kims and with tepid Qing support began looking abroad for foreign expertise to begin developing industry in Korea, especially to take advantage of the country's large coal and iron deposits.
Fearing losing their puppet to their main rivals the Qing forbade an English or Russian candidate leaving the German Krupp family, the only people outside England with the secret to cast steel the best suited candidates. With the family bsuiness barely squeaking by 24 year old Alfred Krupp leaps at the opportunity, setting up headquarters with a thousand skilled German workers and their families in the main port city of Pusan and being given almost unlimited powers to govern and develop the surrounding southern territories in the name of the Joseon king and Qing emperor. Resistance is still fierce to outsiders in the agricultural north however and the political situation in the Joseon court unstable.

Mekong Company:
For the first time in decades a French company has been founded to promote the colonization of and trade with the east, with powerful backers and the consent, though not support of the French government a small private army and fleet have been assembled and sent to establish a headquarters in Saigon. Facing little local opposition for now the company has established de facto control over the entire Mekong Delta and now look to consolidate their hold on the land.

West Africa Company:
Drawing upon the success of the Lander brother's expeditions in 1830 and 1832 several merchant adventurers have succeeded in acquiring a charter to explore, trade with and govern the territory surrounding the Niger River. Establishing trading posts along the Niger Delta they now prepare to expand posts further upstream, though native opposition is fierce and competition from the French even fiercer.

Amazonia:
With increasing abolitionist sentiment in the United States several prominent southern planters have banded together establishing a society for the establishment of plantations in South America, led by senator John C Calhoun who hopes that the venture could lead to the ascension of numerous new slave states to the union. Notable expert in South American affairs and all around trustworthy fellow Gregor McGregor has offered his services, using his ties with the Brazilian government to "purchase" thousands of acres of "prime farmland" along the banks of the "fertile" Amazon river for the planters.

Nowa Polska:
Recently in Poznan a man named Edward Raczynski has had an idea, formerly a magnate of Poland the man is now reduced to an eccentric living off his savings but this idea of his promises a new start. He proposes an expedition to the as of yet unclaimed corner of South America, Patagonia, to establish a new Polish homeland. He has gathered together followers and scraped together funds and seeing the opportunity to rid their new lands, currently undergoing a program of Germanization, of at least a few of its Polish inhabitants the Prussian authorities have allowed them to gather in Danzig and set sail to a new beginning.
