  1. Welcome to the World of Ben-to! Willfully ignored by the general populace, a battle happens every night, and at every supermarket that offers discounted lunch meals, battles fought by hungry, savage Wolves over who gets prized box meals at half price. These fights are usually honorable however, the fighters obeying an unspoken code of honor, and some very specific spoken rules:
  2. -Every brawler must wait away from the bento area until the God of Discounts, the ones who put the half-price sticker on the bento boxes, puts the sticker on the bento boxes and leave to the break room before beginning to battle. To take one beforehand and to harass the God of Discounts is disrespectful, as the last thing they need at the end of their shift are people harassing them for their discount.
  3.
  4. -If another brawler manages to get a bento for themselves, they cannot be attacked. If two or more brawlers get their hands on the same bento, then they fight among themselves until the other lets go of the bento.
  5.
  6. -A brawler can only take one bento, to take another would be greedy and would spoil the victory for another.
  7.
  8. -Brawlers should never do anything to cause a bento to spill, doing that would mean one less bento for someone to get.
  9.
  10. They fight each other for the thrill, the satisfaction of a hard won meal, of knowing even if they lost they gave everything they could to get that delicious meal. Some may use less then honorable tactics, such as fighting in packs like dogs, though some 'packs' will form, that will simply avoid fighting over the same meals, such as The Half-Price Food Lovers Club (Aka the Half-Pricers Association), or a sort of tag team, like the twins of Orthos. Regardless of how you fight, if you don't take pride in your hunger, and fight with everything you have, you will go home hungry, or likely eating a microwaveable bowl of noodles instead of the Special of the Day.
  11.
  12. Backgrounds:
  13. Drop In: You should know this deal by now. No background, no history, no memories of this world. Plenty of up and downsides to this. Free.
  14.
  15. Wolf: You grew up in the supermarkets, watching the fights, and entered them early in life, likely around middle school or high school. You might have a moniker, like Goatee, Brunette, or Monk based on your looks, or people 'in the know' know you. Be careful of what sort of reputation you made, as it will be the difference between having allies in unusual spaces, and finding yourself on a list.
  16.
  17. Dog: You're new to the game. You either just learned about the brawls, or are otherwise considered bottom of the chain. At least you're better respected than the Pigs, because even Dogs have manners. If you can find that drive that pushes you further, you might find you yourself considered a wolf soon enough.
  18.
  19. Half Price God/dess: A merchant par none, at least as far as supermarkets and corner stores go. The Wolves respect you, almost honor you in the way they patiently wait for you to do your almost holy duty of putting out the stickers and go to the back room for your break before starting their brawl...most of the time at least. Maybe you were an Ex-Wolf, or just that nice older person that the store hires on to do a little of this and that. The good news is dealing with this competitive buyers has given you a few tricks.
  20.
  21. Perks
  22.
  23. Area Knowledge: A Bento Brawler always needs to stay up to date on local bento politics, territory grabs, store openings or closings, and the Who's Who of Wolves and others. A jumper with this perk is able to easily, and almost instinctively, find information about power players in an area related to their inquiry. Information about people, places, and events closer to home will be fresher and more accurate, while the further out of your area it goes, the more rumor filled and expired it may be. 100 (free for wolves)
  24.
  25. Hungry like the Wolf: Only the truly hungry and short on cash actually want discount lunch boxes, which is why several wolves actually skip lunch, or even fast for days, to up their own ferocity. With this perk, the hungrier the Jumper gets, the harder and faster he'll swing in the middle of a brawl, but at the cost of being closer to running out of steam due to sheer hunger if it is not a tactic they are used to. 200 (Discount wolf)
  26.
  27. Half Price Title: You have gained a reputation and a nickname to go with it. Rumor spreads about you, and you become easily identified, be it by your looks, your fighting style, or some other identifying part. Unfortunately, one does not get to nickname themselves, thus Titles tend to come with humorous stories, in jokes, or are generally embarrassing to the one who gets it. The upside is your reputation precedes you, and other wolves will respect you, avoid you, or target you for challenges, depending on what you are known for. 400 (Discount wolf)
  28.
  29. Brick Supermarket: You may not be as large as one, but by the bento gods, you are built like one. Hard to move, hard to hurt, you're a juggernaut who wants discount food, and not much will stop you. The only downside is the fact that you move like a brick building, and faster wolves will usually out pace you once they find they can't simply put you down. 100 (free dog)
  30.
  31. Pack Animal: You are on good terms with one or more other Wolves or Dogs. By agreement, you discuss targets as to not get in each other's way and avoid extra conflict, but depending on your outlook on Brawling and the Zen of Bento, you may not go as far as to actively help each other. For every purchase you gain two pack mates who will watch your back, and if nothing else not go after your prize. Pack Mates can be substituted for up to 8 companions if you have them. 200 (Discount Dog) (Limit: 4)
  32.
  33. Shopper's Armory: Wolves are clever brawlers, able to quickly learn how use odd items, such as chopsticks, hand baskets, or shopping carts, as weapons and shields. Jumpers with this are able to, with some practice, use makeshift weaponry to extreme effectiveness, blocking full on kicks with chopsticks, or three man attacks with a cart. 100 (Free Half Price God)
  34.
  35. Multiverse Mart: A bento brawler needs territory, even if it's just one small supermarket. With this perk, you gain a supermarket that is usually in convient range of your location, except where that wouldn't make sense. The shelves get stocked every morning, but like any market, stuff will sell quickly if there's customers. After the jump, you gain a Super Market that follows you between jumps, offering large amounts of regular commodities for your current local at reasonable prices. Alternatively, you can sell goods you create there, but remember, odd items will draw attention. 200 CP (Discount: Half Price God)
  36.
  37. Nose for Discounts: You have a good sense for good food at good prices. You're good at finding rare 75% off deals, or rare ones, like fresh made eel dishes discounted after only being out for ten minutes. Careful, as other wolves will fight harder for such deals. 400 (Discount Half Price God)
  38.
  39. Supermarket Style: Anyone who fights for the right to eat half priced bento needs to learn how to fight in crowded spaces. Brawls are busy, tight affairs that happen in only a few square feet with anywhere from five to several dozen people all at once. A Wolf must learn how to use all available space, how to fend off multiple attackers at once, and how to prioritize targets for attacks. 100 (Free Drop In)
  40.
  41. Bento Exercise Plan: Even though it's day old lunch boxes, the Bento of this world seem to help healing, and give most wolves a higher pain threshold. With this perk, you don't worry about silly things like minor injuries, as long as you get that sweet bento in the end. You'll still likely end up in some bandages the next day, but nothing hospital worthy...right? 200 (Discount Drop In)
  42.
  43. High Quality Merch: You own top tier chopsticks. You bring your own reinforced hand baskets to the fight. You always find the newest cart that doesn't squeal or wobble. Somehow you always have high quality mundane items that work well with your preferred brawling tactics. 400 (Discount Drop In)
  44.
  45.
  46.
  47.
  48. Drawbacks
  49. Herd of Pigs: You chose the wrong neighborhood to hunt in, or the bento gods are testing you. No matter what store you go to, there are at least three to seven Pigs in wait, all of them ready to break rules and scarf up as many box meals as they can carry. Usually they only show up one at a time, or on different days, but you get to deal with them showing up on the same day multiple days a week. I hope your Hunger overpowers their greed, Wolf. 200
  50.
  51. Stingy Discount God: For some reason, either there is just less bento every night, or the store you prowl has a Half-Pricing God that likes to take bento off the table. Due to this, there is only half the usual available meals, but still just as many Wolves looking to get at them. The brawls will be twice as fierce as combatants fight over less resources. Sadly, to your luck, this problem seems to follow you. 200
  52.
  53. Hole In Your Pocket: Some how, even among those who are poor, you are definitely a sad sack. Be it by pickpocket, an actual hole in your pocket, or emergency expenses, you are always super tight on money. Sometimes even tight enough that you have to aim low on the bento scale. Other days, it's low enough all you can do is get the dollar noodles, and have to skip the brawl. 100
  54.
  55. Bad Timing: Ceiling tiles crack you in the head, your bus is late, you get caught in traffic...the bento gods see it fit to always make sure you are late, or wrong footed at the start of the brawl. Lucky charms help negate this a little, but even they have a habit of backfiring. 400
  56.
  57. Extremely bad luck: You and Asebi would get along well if your meeting wouldn't bring down several buildings. Things break, crash, explode, and detonate around you, stairs are never safe, and you burn through charms like a chain smoker through cigarettes. The only up side is you never seem badly affected by these problems, but everyone tries to avoid you. EVERYONE. Requires Bad Timing. 200 CP
