- Sci-Fi Planet Idea: Planet, Magnetoplanet, and Flare Star
- A young-ish red dwarf star with an orbiting gas giant planet in a mildly eccentric orbit. In a 1:1 resonant orbit with the gas giant is an even more eccentric terrestrial planet. It spends a lot of the time too far from the star to get enough light to support surface water. At periapsis it's a tad too hot but it's fine. The powerful magnetic field of the gas giant has begun to interact with the magnetic field of the dwarf star such that the flare events of the star are matched to the very predictable orbital period of the gas giant. So the star begins to flare up to twice its luminosity during the terrestrial planet's apoapsis, giving it enough heat and light to survive the descent back down to habitable zone after cooling off for most of the trip.
