- - The current state of giygas and speedrunning and giygas stream -
- I haven't speedran a game seriously since Demon's Crest any%. More or less, speedrunning that game made me really not want to speedrun. I don't know what perspective I gained after that, or the analysis of watching other people speedrun video games and my recent talks with fellow twitch friends. At this current time and place, I don't want to speedrun.
- I don't think it's the death of speedrunning for me. As I am still submitting to marathons. I'm strongly considering not submitting to AGDQ 2021.
- Basically in my mindset, I love to play too many video games. I like playing a variety of games and I like playing new video game experiences. Watching some people play their speedgame in the thousands and ten-thousands of attempts, I suppose doesn't support my mindset of speedrunning. I don't think I love any one game to do that. If you know me or have watched my stream, I typically will speedrun a game for a week. Drive down to a personal respectable time, and pick another game and do it again. I don't favor the grind. And some games where I have put in the grind like Demon's Crest any%, Joe and Mac SNES, I pushed myself to do 100-200 attempts. I'm am super proud of myself for learning games quickly and pushing out a time, but during those specific games I remember streaming and looking at the clock. This brought back really awful memories of working in an office and looking at the clock and watching the time go by slowly. So I don't want speedrunning to be a negative experience for me. On the other hand, I have ran games recently as well that have been a blast to learn. The Firemen was one of the most satisfying games to learn and push down. Ardy Lightfoot is one of my proudest achievements. And I also think the predicament I'm experiencing happens to other speedrunners as well. As I see some speedrunners move to variety content or just other types of streaming in general.
- In terms of the future? I'm confident I will continue to speedrun. Right now I've been really enjoying playing indie games and knocking out my current backlog. These are fresh experiences and I'm enjoying them. I've always been on the mindset if something is not fun, not to do it. If I'm not enjoying a game, I stop after a certain amount of time and get rid of it. I might do a schedule of some sort if I can discipline myself. I really need to incorporate retro gaming as well. And my twitch channel has had a lot of success with viewer requests. So long as you watch the stream and accrue channel points, I'm more than happy to play a requested game. Who knows. Maybe I'll get tired of playing games casually and the speed itch will return. Maybe I'll be a slothrunner like infinitemystery.
- In terms of stream schedule. Still no plans. I'm going to changing to streaming whenever. Whether it's twice a day, in the morning, or at night.
- Keep on the lookout for races and stuff. I really want to do dumb races with buddies too.
