what is the difference
between being detached
from eveything
and being attached too much
to things
that are too far

my house has cables
soft needles sticking out of it
down them run electricities
that carry all the messages
i ever sent

i sent them too far
you will accuse me
but there was nowhere
nowhere else to send
the neighbours all died
to make way for the cables

chains
long chains
hang from the pages
of my book
like the locks of her hair
they have locked me

senseless and lost
on a beach of twilight
reading to forget
trying to remember
why the pages
lie so heavy

like a grasshopper
that has not jumped
for too long, unmoving
is it dead?
or waiting?
does it make a difference?
