This version is a milestone in the history of VirtualDJ. Unlike the transition to v7 v6, v5 or V6 etc, where we have added significant new features (such as video support, 99 bridges, ContentUnlimited, etc.), for the passage of v8, we have rewritten our software from the ground. VirtualDJ was first started in 1996 and over the next 15 years, we have continued to add more and more features to keep pushing the limits of how technology can help you mix. But at 15 years of superimposed layers of new code, can be quite messy, and our rate of development was slow. That is why we have spent the last 3 years to rewrite everything clean and fresh, and for the next 20 years, new revolutionary features will keep coming at the speed of lightning, day after day.

But of course, the version 8 is not just a clone version 7 with a new engine. It also brings a lot of new features and new. Here is a quick guide to the key new features for people who are already experienced with version 7:

SANDBOX:
A new exclusive feature VirtualDJ 8, is the new concept of "sandbox". Sandbox is a feature that helps you prepare your next mix while the audience is still listening to the previous song. When sandbox is engaged, you can move to the end of the track, and try to mix in the next track, hear it in your headphones until you find the perfect exit point and point- input where you want to mix. You can then clear sandbox, and quietly wait for the current route to reach the point where you are now convinced that you should start your mix.

SAMPLER:
The new sampler v8 has all the limitations of the old v7 sampler. He can now play an unlimited number of samples simultaneously. Samples can be audio, video or still images. Video clips can have alpha transparency. Samples can be organized by the group and started as an instrument bank. Accommodation can be arranged on a grid, and have colors and icons.
The sampler is now available from the SIDEVIEW, where you can choose any bank and samples directly drag and drop the slots. The sample files are found in the back of the sampler in the browser. Note that you can also play a sample directly into the back of the sample, which means that you can play as many samples as you want at the same time, and you do not "have" not to use the grid if you are samples comfortable trigger list. The sampler is also a special bank called "remix mode" that turns your smart cue sampler buffer. VirtualDJ will automatically detect and fill points remix with breaks in your song, but you can edit your own points during remix.

ENGINE SOUND:
In VirtualDJ 8, all internal audio components, such as height stretching, limiter, equalizer, filters, etc., have been rewritten to leverage the power of modern computers and give you a crystal clear sound.

The engine's internal processes while high quality 32-bit audio, but the internal sampling frequency can be set in the options. Note that we recommend using 44,100 if you play most audio files that were recorded at 44,100 (such as mp3 files), or 48,000 if you play most of the videos that have their HD audio track 48000 . BROWSER:

SIDE VIEW:
The browser now has three areas: files, display files, and the "side view". The side view can display and easily switch between various useful files or special lists. Among the special lists are Automix list, the list of karaoke, a zero-pad "list aside" (you can also always have the old lateral horizontal list if you are nostalgic, it's in the advanced options) and sampler trigger-pad. But you can also drag and drop a folder to the side to stop there. You can even create shortcut buttons for different folders, so you can easily switch between them with one click.

VIRTUAL RECORDS:
Virtual folders / favorite / filter in version 8 can now be children of any other folder. For example, you could have your D: \ Music \ Rock, and inside, creating a virtual folder "Top" where you put links to the best songs. You can also make folders filtering children from other records, and the filter will be applied to the contents of the parent folder.

GROUP FILTER:
Screening case can now have a filter like "group by genre," for example. This would create a file filter that children all kinds of records available (from the database if that location is in origin, or from the parent folder otherwise).

EFFECTS:
The page of the effect is not a "replacement" of the browser, but instead of a panel, as well as the playlist. configuration window will open small windows effects within this group. This effect can also be config unanchored and become floating windows that can be moved. effect selection is now done by the effect button on the skin on each platform. The list window of the effect can also be unpinned to become a floating window that can allow easy instant access to several effects. Also note that in version 8, the effects can now be applied to a specific bridge, or main output. Go to the panel "master" in the center window to select the master effects.

EDITORS:
Another great new feature in VirtualDJ 8, is the plethora of built-in editors.

Automix EDITOR:
The editor AutoMix allows you to pre-edit your Automix sequence to refine the input mix and mix point out, the type of transition, and if you mix videos, select the video to use for each transition mixture. When manually tune the mix between songs, VirtualDJ recall and use your favorite the next time the engine Automix mix these two songs together accurate adjustments.

TRACK CLEANER:

VIDEO EDITOR:

Or, it can be used to add a new full video track of an audio only existing piece using parts of video from other video files. It can also be used to create a video track of a remixed by using parts of the video track of the original version.

SAMPLE EDITOR:
To harness the power of the new sampler in version 8, the sample editor lets you adjust most of the options on your audio, video, or still images samples. Samples can now be audio, video or both (or stills), and you can easily adjust the transparency of the sample videos, crop audio clips, and create groups of samples with specific modes of triggering.

POI EDITOR:
All landmarks recorded loops, Automix points Beatgrid anchors, points of macro, etc. .., are now called POI (Point Of Interest for) in VirtualDJ 8 POI editor allows you to organize and manage all these points for each of your tracks.

BPM EDITOR:
The new editor of BPM let you easily and quickly adjust the beatgrid of your songs. It can even allow you to specify a different bpm for different parts within the same song.

TAG EDITOR:
The tag editor has been much improved in version 8 compared to version 7 That may change a lot many tracks together, can save the tags to the files, and is compatible with a wide range file formats and tags.
