  1. While remaining observant, he notes that Id, as always, remains silent; his lips idly purse in thought, pondering what exactly Id has been up to. With this new white cloak, the new quill and everything.. he assumes that someone has been taking care of them.
  2.
  3. Then again, wasn't she seen with some Knights?
  4.
  5. At least, that's what he thinks of it. Eventually, while she writes down those things, he keeps on watching, curious as to what exactly would unfold before him.
  6.
  7. Hm, hm.
  8. (Nerin)
  9. The girl still traversed throughout the park in the midst of the city, aimless, contemplating of where Nerin of Khaine could be at the particular hour. The girl was an invasive one, although for her own ambitions in order to get things moving along.
  10.
  11. Yet, besides that of her medical training, the girl had a problematic situation arise wherein her right hand was flashed around, coated with a layer of verglas that caused the limb to feel entirely numb. It lacked the bandages she had wrapped it with prior, although she cared not for whom viewed it anyways.
  12.
  13. And so, impatiently she waits for the arrival of one or both individuals, seeking assistance with integrating that frost-over damage into her circuits and or figure out ways to essentially decrease the damage and fix it herself, ultimately learning of how to deal with happenings such as this.
  14.
  15. But when Nerin arrives, just as she returns from her unconscious, aimless wandering nearby, Astrid is swift on her toes, despite fatigue, to approach him with disregard to the current interactions with Id.
  16.
  17. "Nerin," she addresses him in an unusually friendly tone. That pale blue appendage is stretched forth towards him- the damage trails up the girl's forearm midway where it decreases in numbness throughout, hand more blue than where the frost of ice magic ceases within it. "Could you... give me a hand here?"
  18. (Astrid)
  19. While reading the paper, Nerin tilts his head a little.
  20.
  21. At least something was changing for Id, and for that much, he couldn't really blame her; if anything, this only caused him to smile- with the recent changes, he's more than certain they would eventually bring that one to justice..
  22.
  23. Eventually.
  24.
  25. "Good. You do need safety now, more than anything. You made the right choice, Cloak."
  26.
  27. He extends his hand out, giving a small pat on her shoulder, quite re-assuring in the way he does it.
  28.
  29. Yet, his gaze turns to Astrid soon enough. Immediately, he notes the damage done with ice magic, and he blinks to that; it's something that he's very much used to seeing, especially considering that he's had to deal with certain people very fond of Ice magic as a whole.
  30.
  31. "What--"
  32.
  33. "How'd you get hurt like that?" With that said, he approaches closer to inspect it.
  34.
  35. "What happened?"
  36. (Nerin)
  37. The damage isn't as significant as Zus' own previously- for here it was minor than major, temporary rather than permafrost, yet unable to be reduced by the mere flames of organic fires than it might for any magi versed in medical properties and such.
  38.
  39. However, as Nerin approaches, he'd note the damage quite easily. It wasn't hard to miss on that revealed arm. "Sewers," she responds with winces in trying to move those fingers. Currently? It was impossible to do even such a minor task with that hand of hers.
  40.
  41. "Whoever the hel hurt Zus did the same to me."
  42. (Astrid)
  43. ** Your "Frostbitten Hand" injury has fully healed! +28 VIT
  44.
  45. At sheer mention, he frowned.
  46.
  47. So much so that the entirety of his countenance seemed to shift to that of displeasure- he very well remembers the day when he had to hold his own bleeding out brother on his arms, going as far as being forced to amputate his arm and immediately operate him, lest he would die due to permafrost spreading out and killing cells in the rest of his body.
  48.
  49. Truthfully, it was a desperate situation.
  50.
  51. One that the two of them barely walked out of, but.. where that tension momentarily takes over, it soon relaxes. Instead, he merely nods to her, already withdrawing a warming ointment from the kit; alongside, however, he steadily lays a single hand on her arm.
  52.
  53. "...Hold still."
  54.
  55. For one reason or another, it seems as if the usual cheery attitude got almost entirely washed away at the mention of that man. He's sworn to kill him, after all. Though, with the hand laid, he carefully allows the pulse of mana to go through- with her own bone used as the 'basis' for the effect of budding Biomancer, distributing the necessary effect across mana circuits - which then stretch towards her flesh, in somewhat of a slow regenerative process.
  56.
  57. The rest, however?
  58.
  59. He begins to apply the ointment carefully, wrapping it up in a light bandage to keep it held in place. Only then he speaks out after it's wrapped up- both magic and the actual, practical medicine serving as necessary reliever and something for recovery.
  60.
  61. "Do not take off that bandage for a while."
  62.
  63. "It should be better."
  64. (Nerin)
  65. Amidst such treatment, eventually, he glances off to Id whom decided to walk off; while he knew that she enjoyed solitude and silence a lot more, he still spoke out to her.
  66.
  67. "Hey, Cloak? Your papers?"
  68.
  69. "Or are you not taking them back?"
  70.
  71. For some reason, he even kept the previous one, but.. at least he was meaning to return it, just never got to it. It's not too long before he adds more.
  72.
  73. "I was busy a lot lately. Couldn't get to returning them in time."
  74. (Nerin)
  75. The other's glooming away isn't noticed in that instance, disregarded still as her focus remains upon the intrusion of pulsing mana from Nerin. That effect washes through circuits, bone, and the interior altogether, allowing the process of regeneration for alleviating the numbness to instill itself.
  76.
  77. Perhaps akin to sticking one's hand in warmth after playing in the snow, the tingling was present and the nerves, circuits, and bone slowly over time seemed to return in their natural senses of touch, although still vaguely numbed- surely her prowess towards these forthcoming abilities could assist with temperature manipulation, ultimately allowing the switch of such to occur more easily than naught.
  78.
  79. Astrid still watches, however, as the ointment is spread along the length of her arm, only to be wrapped in bandages shortly after and prompted by Nerin to not remove it for some time. A dip of her head can reassure him of that.
  80.
  81. "Thank you; I can already feeling what you did lessen the numbness." A light smile on her features then is procced as her silver eyes gaze up to his own hues;
  82.
  83. "What exactly was it that you did?" She questions then, shortly after he gives responses to Id in the background! Patiently now she'd await for that response for when the finality of his previous conversation is over.
  84. (Astrid)
  85. 'cloak' was not her name, but she responds anyway and is nearby Nerin in an instant as her movements blur with her motions. A light-skinned and lightly scarred hand is held out of the cloak as she expects her shoddily-crafted notes back even if she could just go and gather more lumber to make more rough parchment. Her priorities are in their proper places. Probably.
  86.
  87. The hood turns towards the nearby beastkin as the cloaked female takes in her appearance properly, then returns her attention to Nerin as she waits patiently for something to write on.
  88. (Id)
  89. It's fairly clear that she'd suffer otherwise.
  90.
  91. But with both intrusion of mana surge to the cellular structure of her body, using the bone's mana circuits as a basis, it spreads out much akin to a 'virus' that slowly takes over- although, that 'web' of influence is not harmful in any way.
  92.
  93. On the contrary, it's quite beneficial and relieving.
  94.
  95. After ensuring that bandage is certainly secured in a single place, he looks up at her. Of course, questions would follow.. she did say that she intended to practice this sort of thing, did she not?
  96.
  97. "The physical part of treatment was just ointment and simple wrap up, nothing special there. That's usually done for frostbite or burns."
  98.
  99. Both kinds of injuries tend to destroy flesh in a very spectacular manner, and both had somewhat similar treatment.
  100.
  101. "The rest? It was my practice at Biomancy. It's not perfect, and this tiny tidbit is about as much as I can do at the moment. The rest is still in work."
  102.
  103. Beyond that, though, he does not elaborate- when Id stretches out her hand, he nods once and hands over the notes back.
  104.
  105. "Here, Cloak."
  106.
  107. Of course, he's not aware of her name, even now.
  108. (Nerin)
  109. Those ointments, utilized for treating such wounds of frostbite or similar, is mentally noted. A dip of her head, as she had meant to respond in silence, allowing him to continue on with explanations thereafter about his practices in Biomancy.
  110.
  111. "I'll keep it noted, although Biomancy isn't something I've heard of before. Is that a special type of magic of medical practice?" Assuming so, but Astrid still inquires about the possibility of response in order to learn more about it, should it benefit her in some way if not.
  112.
  113. "Or could any magi learn about how to.. use it?"
  114. (Astrid)
  115. It's definitely a practice that many magi could learn, though, he believed that it was fairly.. limited, otherwise; just as it takes certain magic to learn advancements of different sorts, it also takes certain things to learn about Biomancy.
  116.
  117. "I believe there are several magic schools that would allow one to tap into this."
  118.
  119. "Bone, blood or nature are all fitting to study this; provided you're a magi in any of those fields, it's feasible that you could learn it."
  120.
  121. "Though.. mana circuits are known to be malleable, and as result, influence the body as part of the impact - I'd assume any cosmic or energy magi could try and learn that too, through metaphysical or etheric approach."
  122.
  123. A pause, and he adds.
  124.
  125. "Why? Curious of it?"
  126. (Nerin)
  127. The papers are snatched out of Nerin's hands by a pair of scarred hands. It turns out both of her hands tend towards the same type of scarring along the forefingers and knuckles, the Biomancer likely understands the nature of these scars. There's a scribbling on one of the notes, particularly the older one, then it's handed back to Nerin.
  128.
  129. More so, it's shoved into his grasp and a nod is given towards him from the shrouded female. Another glance is given towards the formerly injured beastkin, almost curiously.
  130. (Id)
  131. Id writes on a sheet of paper.
  132. While he speaks to Astrid, he squints once upon seeing the notes handed back to him- or rather, almost shoved into him. His eyes narrow a little at the nature of scars on her hands.
  133.
  134. "--These scars.."
  135.
  136. But that's only a mutter he makes once, before his gaze diverts back to the note. He briefly reads it through.
  137. (Nerin)
  138. A single glance paid to Id, brief in a few seconds of staring as Nerin explains the notions of biomancy, the magical capacities capable of potentially learning it, and other mages who could likely learn the practice.
  139.
  140. "I'm only curious because mentioned it," Astrid says, averting her eyes back to Nerin. "I've never heard of it before." A shrug of her shoulders then follows that statement. "Thought it could be useful, but I'm only a water magi." A huffed out laugh is made then;
  141.
  142. "Medical practice though, outside of Biomancy, is still something I'd like to learn myself at least. I have a friend in the slums who I want to protect. Her name is Indra- means a lot to me. Would be useful to have that knowledge handy anyways. She's learning more about earth magics- so it could be something I could teach her too maybe. About Biomancy anyways." Likely overexplained, although another short shrug of her shoulders is made to follow, as per usual. Astrid's typical response to most things.
  143.
  144. "What advice could you offer someone who wants to learn more about medical things?"
  145. (Astrid)
  146. There isn't much else to be said about the art that Nerin studies- if anything, that causes him to merely nod once; it's not the art for everyone, and.. honestly? He believed that's what might make him stand out amidst so many magi in the city of Osrona - and he might want to keep it that way, really.
  147.
  148. So instead, he merely nods.
  149.
  150. "I see, I see. Plausible and understandable, I suppose."
  151.
  152. Is he averting the topic? Maybe. In any case, when she asks for the further tips in regards of medicine, Nerin continues explaining all about it.
  153.
  154. "Personally, I studied in the library that church has. They have pretty extensive medical know-how and recorded knowledge, and they're willing to share it with anyone who's just willing to learn."
  155.
  156. "So long as you behave yourself in the library and return books in time, of course."
  157.
  158. Perhaps, there's a clear emphasis on returning the books.. because he knows how some people might be.
  159.
  160. "I also did actual practice. Treating wounds according to manuals help- and if you're looking to dissect someone, I suppose morgue is always an option. Though.."
  161.
  162. "They might not let you, understandably so. Pigs are fairly similar in terms to anatomy to humans - with some differences here and there, but still good for practice. You could practice on them as well for dissection purposes and anatomy knowledge."
  163.
  164. Then, he glances off to Id. Finally acknowledging their name, he speaks out.
  165.
  166. "..Sorry! Had no idea all this time."
  167. (Nerin)
  168. The hood looks between Nerin and the beastkin as they converse about highly civilized things that wholly bore the cloaked girl to the point of making a yawning motion. There's even a faint noise of her yawning into one of her scarred hands which immediately finds her mouth.
  169.
  170. The realization that she cannot get back into the room that served as her 'bedroom' had long since sunken in. She wouldn't even be able to make ti past the front door. Audree might get mad, but Id couldn't stay in there all the time.
  171.
  172. Surely nobody would notice her and attempt to start anything. Surely her bad luck had been washed away at this point and that man would not show up and realize it was her while her escorts aren't around. It's wishful thinking, but that's why she had a different cloak even if it may make little difference.
  173.
  174. Practice. That's what she could do. A glance over a shoulder is given as she peers into the western distance.
  175. (Id)
  176. "Mmh," hummed contemplatively for a momentary increment, the Kitsune doesn't say further on the subject of Biomancy. Surely Indranil could learn of it herself if she sought anything in regards to medical practices. Not even Astrid saw her enough anymore due to Indra's job with the Morneau family. It racked Astrid with a vague downcast expression, yet...
  177.
  178. It's cleared away once the continued explanation for medical mentions are noted down in her temple, glancing off towards the western direction of where she knew the church to be. Not a place the girl oft found herself traversing to given circumstances each time she's walked in... but she figured it wouldn't be as bad for a next visit!
  179.
  180. Well, just to study in the library.
  181.
  182. "I got thread, some needles, and a book on how to sew clothes together to try and operate on someone.. if that counts." Which, for anyone listening, was absolutely ignorantly said as she peers down towards the metallic locked box at her side; it contained those items.
  183.
  184. "..I'll find actual tools though and study more on it-" An abrupt pause as she draws in a deep breath. "Thank you though, Nerin."
  185. (Astrid)
  186. Everyone begins somewhere.
  187.
  188. And quite often, the theory and initial grasp of what you're even doing is something that you would need in order to get that start through. Had it been him, he wouldn't do it any other way- truth be told, that's exactly how he's done it.. and considering that it taught him all that he needed about medicine, surely, the others can do the same.
  189.
  190. "Well... no."
  191.
  192. "Thread and needles, assuming that's the correct type of thread, will only be enough to sew wounds on skin and fatty layer; anything beyond that would require bio-dissolving thread, particularly when you're working on muscle layer or even internal organs."
  193.
  194. "But, ah.. flesh isn't clothes either. The stitches are laid a little different, though the book explains how it's done on practice. Worst case scenario, you can practice on pigs as I said - after all, their skin and body structure is fairly similar to ours."
  195.
  196. Especially when it comes to the inner structure and organs as a whole, which made them perfect dummy candidates for budding doctors.
  197.
  198. "You're welcome."
  199.
  200. Eventually, he glances off to Id nearby. Narrowing his eyes a little, he could already tell that one is up to no good.. or well, proverbial 'no good'. For all he knows, she could find herself in trouble again.
  201.
  202. "Something on your mind, Id?"
  203. (Nerin)
  204. Those supplies were definitely not the correct types necessary for medical procedures! Those she'd collected were for traditional sewing practice for clothing. An understanding dip of the Kitsune's head slowly makes its way down, and a few steps around Nerin, aimed towards the west, ensure him of where Astrid is about to head off to.
  205.
  206. "Pigs will be my practice dummies then if that's the case." Or herself. Or most likely another individual she finds in the convenient time. "I'll be on my way then to study." Another huffed out laughter as the girl strides away, tucking her right, bandages arm away at her side gingerly.
  207.
  208. "I'll come see you another time to show you progress and all that. Could always use pointers. See you around." And with those last words spoken, the girl opts to walk off towards the Church.
  209. (Astrid)
  210. Seeing Astrid leave, he only offered her a brief nod. Certainly, she needed to learn and practice, and considering that she displayed simple sewing kit for clothes as something to pass of as medical, well.. he was only further convinced that she still has much to learn.
  211.
  212. For that reason, he doesn't hold her up.
  213.
  214. "Of course."
  215.
  216. "Best of luck in your studies, and feel free to visit if you need more help or pointers. Farewell."
  217.
  218. A brief wave, and that would be the end of their conversation.
  219. (Nerin)
  220. The explanation of medical sciences seems to be an exceptionally confusing and draining subject for the nearby shrouded female. She droops some as Nerin goes off on a near-tangent with his speech. Maybe she shouldn't practice and instead find a nice place to nap. She can't get back into the manor and, regardless of where she sleeps, her self-assigned protector, escort and guide seems the kind to become upset that she left anyway.
  221.
  222. But she isn't thinking about that. She just wants to sleep soundly for once, something she hasn't had in a long time. Her ex-captor knew she slept in one of the parks, but what he didn't know about her is that she wasn't always asleep when watched. Sometimes she was watching back, as creepy as that may have sounded to anyone else.
  223.
  224. The cloaked girl looks around swiftly, not revealing anything extra of her face in the process but managing to take in her surroundings fully. There were treessomewhere nearby, she remembered.
  225.
  226. One of those same scarred hands raises from the cloaked and she offers a small wave towards Nerin before setting off northwards.
  227. (Id)
