  1.
  2. Lucien Voss asks, "Now, where are you from, little one?"
  3.
  4. Angelo Sanguinis says, "Crafthold! Been comin' 'ere for a while."
  5.
  6. Angelo Sanguinis asks, "And ya?"
  7.
  8. Malentine Invidia says, "Oh. Wonderful."
  9. Lucien steps forwards- Or perhaps it's not a step. He presses the toe of his boot into the dirt, kicking off and hovering forwards. He gets what is likely far too close for comfort, and at this distance, it's clear to tell that there's something not entirely human about the man.
  10.
  11. Could it be the crimson eyes? The ashen skin? Perhaps the two fangs that seem so pristine and sharp, pearlescent and beautiful, that hang from beneath his smirk?
  12.
  13. A hand comes to rest against Lucien's chin, looking him up and down. He hums, quietly, before he laughs, almost like a giggling schoolgirl, the hand moving to cover his mouth.
  14.
  15. "Oh, that might be a problem. You see, because of the greed of a few individuals in Crafthold, you and your friends are no longer safe from our hunts. Because they sought to act as if they did not have to pay us back for our generosity? Now, Lover, you're in.. Horrible danger, here. I'll give you the same offer I give everyone else.
  16.
  17. Get on your knees. Beg, and tilt your head. We hunger."
  18. (Lucien Voss)
  19.
  20. Malentine floated into the caves, the alchemical bottle glowing brilliantly at his side. With his brother in tow, he ventured after the Elder who had promised them blood.
  21.
  22. And here it was.
  23.
  24. The vampire removed his hood and tilted his head slightly. His smile was polite, if not genuinely elegant. Yet, it carried with it the same threatening air that came from any of his predatory kin.
  25.
  26. "This one will do nicely..." he said softly.
  27. (Malentine Invidia)
  28.
  29. Yet another pale man comes to rest on his elder's other side. He doesn't offer comment, merely floating in the air with his arms crossed, staring down at the boy with a condescension and intensity he really probably doesn't deserve.
  30. (Corinth Invidia)
  31.
  32. Inhuman demonstration, yet it all went over Angelo's head. I mean, every tip that could be done towards the blind one was mostly visual, and nevertheless, it all went extremely over his head. He wasn't in there for any trouble, simply pushing both straps of the backpack.
  33.
  34. Yet, he still stood with a smile throughout all the speech! The soft giggle from Lucien was accompanied by a soft giggle of his own, and the other two... Specially the one that kept quiet.
  35.
  36. Threatening air? More like threatening vision. Not Angelo's fault they didn't work much on the audition and smell of their enemies, after all. Yet, he seemed to still stand. The smile waned from his face, yet he shook his head from side to side.
  37.
  38. "Ya sure?" He asked, before a soft glow of holy energy emanated from his very essence. "Listen. I've been having a hell of a bad day. I dun' even want to get these ores, but if ye want me to kneel down an beg or something..." He said, feet planting down onto the ground as a hand fetched the hammer.
  39.
  40. Obviously, he stood no chance. Would this mean he'd try? Yes. "Ya'll have to put down the act and ask a bit more nicely."
  41.
  42. Would this mean he wouldn't take any opportunity he had to flee? No.
  43.
  44.
  45. (Angelo Sanguinis)
  46.
  47. The fanged smirk upon Lucien's face.. Fades, ever so slightly. His hands move behind his back, fingers clasping ever so delicately as he glances back to the Invidia brothers who had followed his lead in hunting.
  48.
  49. A short glance to either of them, and he turns, once more, to Angelo.
  50.
  51. "When you're in the dirt, and your blood is being drained from your body, I will tell you the name to curse. Zoldak and Dan are the ones who have forsaken their people to the good will of my kin. I apologize you are caught in the crossfire."
  52.
  53. His eyes half narrow, a dull crimson glow emanating from them. It barely illuminates the cavern they're in, painting the walls dull crimson alongside of his holy aura. He does not actually go for the blade upon his back, instead opting to tilt his head in Angelo's direction.
  54.
  55. Then, perhaps strangely, he floats backwards, ever so slightly.
  56.
  57. "Invidia brothers- This hunt is yours. Have your fill of him and bring him before me. Make him kneel."
  58. (Lucien Voss)
  59.
  60. "Understood, my lord."
  61.
  62. Another word is not needed. A command issued, one from a respected superior- that is enough to bring the sword at the man's side from its scabbard with a quiet whoosh. The blind boy won't see the blood running from some unseen wound, but he might hear it start to coalesce into horrifying forms, snapping with teeth and monstrous fangs, constantly shifting.
  63.
  64. No footsteps to alert the boy of his motion forwards, only the sound of wind in his cloak as he descends.
  65.
  66. (Corinth Invidia)
  67.
  68. Malentine gently drew his cutlass, a cold and dark blade that swirled with a frost that filled the area with cold. If the boy couldn't see the threat, he felt it in the temperature drop. Malentine started to bow, but paused as he noticed the pleasant motions were lost on the poor victim.
  69.
  70. "Let's make this fast. Though, do give it your all. I'd like to gauge your strength and physical prowess when you're at your peak before you've wasted away in a dungeon..."
  71. (Malentine Invidia)
  72.
  73. {RP BATTLE} YOU ROLLED 2 or less: You've sustained a grevious injury in battle. -20 VIT for 1 LIFE. It's up to you and your opponent to determine the specifics of the injury.
  74.
  75. You have received a PERMANENT INJURY from Malentine Invidia:
  76.
  77. {RP BATTLE} YOU HAVE ROLLED 2 OR OVER: You have evaded capture by your enemies! (Unless otherwise specified, your character may escape captivity)
  78.
  79. Ross hits the rock at S speed.
  80. (Ross von Metzke)
  81.
  82. Desc: "Left Leg Shattered and Removed"
  83.
  84. Name: "Left Leg Removed"
  85.
  86. And so the brothers did as they were bid by their Elder and moved in on the traveler. Of course the synergy of the Invidias was up to par, even if they were squabbling with one another and their sister. When it came to the hunt, petty differences were set aside.
  87.
  88. This is what was important.
  89.
  90. This is what they lived for.
  91.
  92. The cavern is filled with a flurry of ice and snow, the temperature dropping even further than it had before. While Corinth surely utilized his own blood magic, Malentine brought up great icicles from the ground that sliced and cut Angelo's body and clothes. In moments where he moved at unbelievable speeds, the vampire slashed through the traveler with his cutlass, leaving great cuts across the boy's torso.
  93.
  94. Until, in one singular moment, one of those icicles punctured Angelo's left knee. The ice, far more solid than any ice formed by a natural process, shattered bone and tore tendon and muscle alike. It pinned the traveler down and Malentine let out a cackle.
  95.
  96. The polite smile grew into a monstrous grin, stretching farther across his face than any expression should. Fangs bared and eyes aglow with that crimson curse, Malentine held out his free hand and forced the ice to sink deeper and deeper into Angelo's leg. The crystalized, ominous blue structure cemented around his leg until all the boy could feel was cold. A deathly, horrendous feeling that made the phrase "chilled to the bone" all too literal. The vampire here took his chance to feast.
  97.
  98. Malentine sunk his fangs into Angelo's neck, taking in his lifeblood with deep gulps and sloppy, manic, bites. Upon finishing, there'd be a chance for his brother to partake as well.
  99.
  100. And once they were finished? Malentine wiped at his face with a handkerchief and giggled.
  101.
  102. "Oh. Do pardon my manners, that was rather rude wasn't it? We should have all sat down before we feasted!"
  103.
  104. In another flurry the vampire swung his cutlass down into that icy leg, shattering it into thousands of shards that fired off into the darkness of the cavern, some crimson, filled with frozen blood and some simply that clear, blue.
  105.
  106. Malentine allowed the boy to fall onto his back, and then continued to wipe at his face. For some reason, the vampire seemed all too concerned with his etiquette, at least for now, which perhaps allowed a window of opportunity for the poor boy.
  107. (Malentine Invidia)
  108.
  109. The vampire's brother seems less concerned with the fanfare and drama of the fight, not even taking it seriously at first. A wayward jab here, a slice- but even the blind boy seems competent as a fighter.
  110.
  111. So fine, no more games. Serious, precise strikes with blood and steel falling upon the boy. More than enough to allow his brother the chance for a damaging, if not fatal strike.
  112.
  113. No need for his brothers messy theatrics with feeding either. Any blood spilling from the boy is simply diverted into the cloud Corinth keeps nearby, and as it forms it spills too into his open hands, drinking calmly and collectedly- only a hint of animal cruelty flashing in his eyes as he finishes, looking up at the boy. Perhaps he's not done, but it seems too late- the boy already has his chance to escape.
  114. (Corinth Invidia)
  115.
  116. Angelo puts up a fight. He knows damn well he did, at least-- The mighty strikes of the hammer were almost enough to bring both of these down, or at least one at a time. He couldn't see it, but he could feel it to his bone. They were unable to get tired, but they were at a strain.
  117.
  118. And yet, he kept forth. He faced them with all of his courage, the holy energy rippling on itself and strengthening at each strike that he took, aiming to repair the wounds that slowly rose to him. The blood pores that leaked, the ice that challenged his very movements, and yet, the ground reacted in unison to the vampires.
  119.
  120. The powerful strikes of cosmic magic, the swings of the hammer covered in two yellow energies, from the stars and from the human itself alike being sent towards the Invidia brothers. It hurt-- It most certainly hurt. But in the end, it was all for nothing.
  121.
  122. Angelo was pinned down for a single second, and it was the first time that gritted teeth spread open. To release a powerful scream as he felt the pain of the puncturing fangs of the vampires within his neck, yet the faint aura that represented hope to an arguable length where it seemed to be countering the corruption of the vampires themselves...
  123.
  124. ... Served as not much to hurt them. It was one last effort, to make them reconsider drinking from him, to have their very weakness used against them in their most vulnerable moment. One last insult before what he was sure to be certain death.
  125.
  126. Yet, perhaps it was simply the numbness of sense that came with holy energy, but after another scream of Angelo, with his leg being cut out, the blonde boy rose a rocky dome, stained with holy energy.
  127.
  128. The barrier of earth resounded with holy magic, pushing away all those corrupt, all those impure-- It was almost as if it was enforced by the man's situation. By the gravity of his injuries. And it was enough to keep them at bay, not for long, as it slowly lost its force and collapsedinto rubble.
  129.
  130. Yet, when it collapsed, the boy was long gone. With a trail of blood behind, for sure, but far-- His aura of holy energy was hidden. Darkness did not impair him. In this vulnerable state, he knew.
  131.
  132. He could feel them easily enough to get away.
  133. (Angelo Sanguinis)
