- >the snow had been fleeting for the past few weeks, but that wasn’t going to stop you from at least one more day of some runs on the slopes
- >taking a final glance at the mix of white and green landscape, you slid your goggles back on and pushed off on your poles, taking a few strides forward as you closed towards the edge of the hill
- >“Hey, wait up!”
- >glancing over your shoulder, you caught sight of someone starting out on their run as well, but instead of a pair of skis like you, they were wielding a snowboard
- >slowing down a bit, you allowed them to catch up as you approached the lip of the slope, the figure coming into view as they slid past you
- >“Race ya to the bottom!”
- >clad in a pair of bright blue snowpants, a white bra, helmet, and a pair of goggles, the dark-skinned woman flew past you, a bit of snow spraying towards you as she cut away, disappearing over the edge
- >not wanting to be left behind by this mystery snowboarder, you picked up your pace and followed her onto the hill proper, bending down a little to gain speed to catch back up
- >her board left deep cuts in the snow as she weaved back and forth, looking back over her shoulder towards you, a big, fuzzy white paw waving in the air, taunting you to catch up
- >you doubled down, choosing to forgo any weaving and head straight down instead, the increase in speed meaning it wasn’t long until you had caught up to her
- >she flashed you a wild smile as the two of you slowed down beside each other, mutually choosing to take it a bit easier now that you had caught up
- >her blue-tinted goggles obscured her eyes, but based off the eager grin on her lips, you could tell the Yeti was having a blast, expertly navigating her way down the slope
- >occasionally, she would kick up a bit of snow as she carved with her board, the contrast between it and the darkness of her skin catching your eye
- >the way she moved with such fluidity, carefully and calmly sliding down on her board, suggested years of knowledge and practice
- >she was even able to hold out just one arm as she weaved, pointing out towards something in front of you
- >wait a minute, something in front of you?
- >breaking your gaze away from her and towards where she was pointing, the shape of a large rock instantly caught your attention, the quickly-closing distance only providing you with a little bit of time to react
- >your last-minute swerve wasn’t enough, the back of your right ski snagging on the rock and knocking you off balance, semding tumbling onto your back as you fell
- >despite the ground being soft, the impact still knocked the breath out of you as you fell head over heels a handful of times, your body kicking up snow as you slowed down
- >gazing up towards the bright sky after coming to a stop, your laboured breathing was eventually deafened by the sound of someone decelerating and coming to a stop next to you, prompting you to sit up with a groan
- >“You alright, dude?”
- >the Yeti had fallen to her knees next to you, a paw placed on your shoulder as you tried to catch your breath again
- >"I’ll… I’ll be okay…” you struggled out, the Yeti gently patting your back as she smiled down at you
- >“You gotta be more aware of your surroundings. If you keep gawking at me, you might eventually end up worse off than you are now!”
- >you blushed and looked down the slope in embarrassment at her having noticed your staring, catching sight of your two skis; one having stopped a few feet away next to your poles, the other continuing on its own towards the bottom of the hill
- >“Yeah… Yeah, you’re right.”
- >her paws latched onto your arm, the Yeti pulling you up to a standing position
- >“We’re gonna have to walk the rest of the way, hopefully you didn’t break your skis.”
- >dusting yourself off and undoing your helmet, you smiled back at her, her board resting under her arm as she carefully began walking down the hill
- >“Come on dude, you need to grab you skis so we can do some more runs today!”
- >you paused for a minute, caught off guard by her assumption. “Right, yeah. Good idea.”
- >the Yeti shot you a smug smile as you caught up to her again, the blue-eyed woman once more patting your back with her large paw, giving you a one-armed hug. “Now I didn’t say no gawking, you just gotta be a bit more careful about it!”
- >she laughed heartily at your embarrassed reaction, the two of you continuing your way downhill
